Title: Rules
Post by: Perigrin on March 01, 2015, 09:22:17 pm
1: don't be a dick.
Or
1: Don't be directly offensive to another forum member in an aggressive or hateful manner.
2: No directed racism, or comments that follow the actual definition of racism, such as being said in a hateful manner.
3: Don't spam, double posting is fine occasionally as long as there is a reason to do so.
4: Offensive, sexual, seizure inducing and questionable content should be placed behind a spoiler with an appropriate warning clearly written in the post. The official colour for content warnings is Yellow
5: No embedded images of PR0N, links are fine but the forum itself should remain PR0N free. ERRATA: Except in the Abyss.
6: No links to webpages that you know aren't safe, or may be questionably safe.
7: Do not attempt to work around a ban, doing so will likely result in an even longer ban or permaban.
8: Do not link to Shock Sites without warning.
9: Do not speak of the Jacqueshammer
10: Don't troll, flame, or argue just for the sake of causing a negative reaction.
11: Do not majorly derail a thread, slight off topic discussions are fine as long as the thread is allowed to continue. if a major enough derail happens, it will be split off. but no doing it on purpose.
12: Dont do hatespeak with the intent of harming another individuals feelings. minor falls under trolling as seen above. talking about it is ok, and using it not directed towards any individual person here is not quite as bannable.

Specific rules for Mod behaviour
1: Do not cause "The Moddening"
2: Do not censor creative endeavors ;Artwork, Stories or RP
3: Censor only offensive content as defined by the rules, not based upon your own personal opinion.
4: Any power abuse will be swiftly dealt with, with a probable permaban.
Mod-Edit colours will be;

Bubbadoo

ajwilli1

Perigrin

Lorknis

Dusty Trails

SiegeLion

Also, if you want to post porn, stick it in a spoiler tag with a warning as to what it is.

Also, if you want to post porn, stick it in a spoiler tag with a warning as to what it is.
Should also spoiler tag anything that could be really seizure inducing. Don't want to kill anyone, do we?

Yeah probably be a good idea to do that.

A more comprehensive list of rules than "Don't be a dick" for the main post would probably be a good idea, so if anyone doesn't mind me writing up a first draft for it then here goes.

(Perhaps have an official colour for content warnings?)
5: No links to webpages that you know aren't safe, or may be questionably safe.
6: Do not attempt to work around a ban, doing so will likely result in an even longer ban or permaban.

A specific list of rules for Mod behaviour seems like it would also be a good idea, although so far all I've got is
1: Do not cause "The Moddening"
Title: Re: Rules

To expand on the list for mods
1: no censoring creative endeavors
2: Do not abuse mod powers by censoring items you do not like but are not against the rules
3: No using Red Text, use a different, less hostile color

All I've got.

What is wrong with glorious Soviet text you Capitalist pig-dog!?

In seriousness: I'll probably use the dreaded Comic-Sans in bright magenta to modtext people if they're being asshats or not cooling it. Any form of fiction will be strictly hands off, since the reason we moved was due to censorship.

Censorship should only be used against actual offensive things (gore, porn, bad 50 Shades fanfiction).

There is no such thing, all fan fic of that is far better than the original :P

Okay, a revised draft of the rules then, so it's all in order.

1: Don't be directly offensive to another forum member in an aggressive or hateful manner.
2: No directed racism, or comments that follow the actual definition of racism, such as being said in a hateful manner.
3: Don't spam, double posting is fine occasionally as long as there is a reason to do so.

2: Do not censor creative endeavors ;Artwork, Stories or RP
3: Censor only offensive content as defined by the rules, not based upon your own personal opinion.
4: Do not use Red text to Mod-Edit a post.
Suggesting the official colour for Mod-Edits be Bold Beige
The official colour for content warnings could be Yellow

Title: Re: Rules

I agree with mostly every thing, but I like having mod edits be colour coded to the colour of the moderators name and bolded.

Like mine being white

AJ's being a bit of a pinkish red

Perigrin's being a nice apple red

Lork's green text

and finally Dust's teal
Title: Re: Rules

I can deal with teal I guess.

If you don't want to you don't HAVE to, and state what colour you would use...
Title: Re: Rules
Post by: Six on March 11, 2015, 08:55:31 pm
That's a nice idea since it'll make it easier for people to know which mod it was, although it presents the problem of maybe being confusing unless the mod adds a name tag to the edit.
Red should definitely stay off limits for mod edits though, it does feel a little too agressive.

Red has always been a staple moderator edit though. I know not of any forum that doesn't use red also
I like to tag mine with ~Bubbadoo .

I guess you're right

Third draft for the rules would look like this then

1: Don't be directly offensive to another forum member in an aggressive or hateful manner.
2: No directed racism, or comments that follow the actual definition of racism, such as being said in a hateful manner.
3: Don't spam, double posting is fine occasionally as long as there is a reason to do so.

If that all seems fine and Perigrin is okay with editing it into the original post then I think the forum rules should be fine, obviously edits may need to be made to it still.

yellow mod warnings, like i have been doing with the pr0n thread. red text means you goofed bad enough to get the admin on you, so......

I'm quite tired at the moment and somehow that didn't quite make sense to me or I did't explain what I meant by content warnings properly.
An example of what I meant by content warning, which I believe you suggested the idea to me back on the C:DDA forum
There's some weird shit in this spoiler tag, be careful *Description of weird shit*
Spoiler (hover to show)

But did you mean mod edits would be yellow, such as an edit from the mod in charge of that part of the forum, and an admin, such as yourself, would edit in red?

Is there any way of changing the text colour in a spoiler title though, it's a bit difficult to read which is why I was suggesting using yellow for it.

Seigelion is part of the moderation now, his mod text colour should be included to. It seems to be a skyblue.

Adding to the bit about racism, I'd add a bit about saying no to sexism, religious... Ism? and other similar things too.

Or even better, no hate speech, period.
Title: Re: Rules
Post by: Six on March 12, 2015, 12:38:33 pm
Changing that to hate speech may be a good idea, yeah.
Discussion about those topics is completely fine and generally I think anything can be said during that discussion, provided it wasn't intended as malicious against a certain group.

2. No Hate speech or comments intended to be malicious against a particular person or group of people.

I'll also add in

10. Don't troll, flame, or argue just for the sake of causing a negative reaction.
11. Do not majorly derail a thread, slight off topic discussions are fine as long as the thread is allowed to continue

If a thread is derailed enough, just as it happens accidentally sometimes I think just splitting the thread should be fine, no punishment for that since almost everyone accidentally derails a thread sometimes.
Probably needs some refinement to those rules and the last two may be totally unessesary.

Ah, Peri's added it all in there now. I think we should be covered for mostly anything that'll be an issue.
Title: Re: Rules

Okay, the rules list needs an update from what I'm gathering.

Specifically Rule 5 should probably be changed to No Porn/Adult Sexual Content or gore, since we have The Abyss for that now.

Also should my mod-edit colour stay as  light blue  since I'm now grey or should I use the light blue in LMG and the grey in The Abyss?
I'd lean towards using separate colours in separate sections of the forum, just to show that I'm editing separate parts of the forum.

Sounds like a pain in the ass for such a minor change that not many would notice.
