So thus I occupy a village, after brutally murdering its entire population of 14 testificates in various manners. Unfortunately, this seed had a very odd generation of the village on top of a ravine, leaving the wood bases of a hut and the blacksmith reaching aaallllllllllll the way down to the bottom of the ravine. "This is really gonna bother me," thought I, so I went about and crafted tools to eliminate the oddity by hand. I decided to use stone, since I had 2 full stacks of the stuff, and took the rest of my sticks to the crafting table.

In my then-apparent stupidity, I crafted about 10 stone axes.

Cursing myself for such a rash action, I set about to rid the ravine of the horrid structure generation. Now that I'm done chopping the ravine-scrapers away, my results are: 4 unused stone axes, 1 axe at half durability, 28 acacia planks, 1 acacia fence and door, 1 wood pressure plate, and 903 pieces of acacia logs.

I think I know what my next project is going to be.

You need to build moar cannons. I kinda wish I knew what physics fuckery made my favorite "quick and easy" cannon design no longer practical.

So Evolve went F2P. Honestly that's probably the best move they could make so I may see if my comp will run it.
EDIT: Nope. After reading some reviews since the game went F2P it sounds like they royally screwed it up and I'm not interested in what it sounds like they made it into.
Everything I've heard about their F2P model has been positive so far, what don't you like about it?
I mean there was some shit about people thinking they were going Pay to Win but one of the Devs on Reddit cleared it up.

Of COURSE the snowy level would have a minigame that's basically whack-a-hole crossed with Lemmings, involving jumping Christmas lightbulbs and plants that apparently eat glass. Because Rare was both stoned and short on bullshit at the time.

Just go for a different jiggy. You aren't required to get that one.
At least it isn't DK 64. I had banjo, my stepbrother had DK. Guess which of us was happier. (It was me.)

Heretic. Good game, but playing it with zandronum made me think about how when playing old game like that without mouse look or jumping, every shot you fire will lock onto an enemy in the center of your screen. It can even be above or below your view and the shots will soft lock onto it. If the soft lock still existed in the zandronum version, the game(s) would be trivial and/or frustrating. Hexen is a good example of frustrating because while you can look up and down, the soft lock still exists and it makes your shots collide with objects or aim at enemies when what you really want to shoot is the poison cloud mushrooms at their feet.

Yeah, I decided that minigame and its jiggy can go eat a bag of bear dicks.

Also, yeah. Check your player options/setup, both it and ZDoom have autoaim intensity in there, including the option to disable it. I tend to enable if playing on the desktop, but leave it on if on the laptop and not using my mouse.

EDIT: Also, Heretic introduced looking up and down to the Doom engine, you sure that it didn't have mouselook in vanilla Heretic?

Couldn't get it do mouse look. That's why I decided to play it in zandronum.
It was also one of the first FPS games to have an inventory system.

In other news, starbound comes out of early access on the 22nd. Not sure what to think of that. Monster Hunter X comes out in five days.

Ah, odd. Then again, has been so long since I've done vanilla Heretic, it might be set up so that mouse up/down makes you go forward/backward like vanilla Doom.

And yes, I know that too. Whereas Hexen was notable for adding classes, hub levels, and ACS scripting. And Strife added conversation and merchant systems, and made the hubs stop being episodic. XP

If it weren't for minecraft, the markets wouldn't be inundated with similar games and games with half ass crafting systems. If it weren't for rogue, we wouldn't have roguelikes, and if it weren't for roguelikes, we wouldn't have hundreds of games claiming to be roguelike when they are not and are in fact, platformers, strategy games, shmups, etc. etc. etc. The first legend of zelda game on the NES was an innovator in that it had save slots. No console game before zelda had the ability to save your game so you could continue playing later. Legend of Zelda is responsible for a major feature in video gaming. We also owe a huge portion of shitty youtube videos to minecraft.

Crafting systems are almost mandatory in games now, even games that don't benefit from one. Though without Minecraft we'd never have Rust or Hurtworld, but I'm not sure if we'd be better off without them.

Meanwhile in Doom modding...did I ever mention Unhinged, that Doom 2 mod someone made that was clearly made on all the drugs? Been working on making it work better in co-op, and altered to not interfere with weapon mods.
