Compared to straightforward damaging spells, drain health is STUPIDLY cheap to cast if the duration is kept low.

Also, not only is this thing spammable as all hell, it blocks projectiles AND bashes through breakable walls? Hnnng.

Meanwhile in CDDA, buckets. I have no fucking idea whether or not they can collect rainwater if placed under a funnel, but having some way to store fluids in pots and other otherwise-useless containers is a decent idea.

Away. It was "too hard".

Interestingly, it was replaced by all manner of things that make the game "harder" in the sense that you need to spend more time to accomplish things.
Gone. Cheers guys.

Nothing should be considered "too hard" especially in a fucking rougelike. I remember a long time ago they wanted it to be difficult but they refused to put things in the game that'd result in an instant-kill which I guess makes sense given that's its an open-world game, but at the same time I think insta-kill bullshit is a staple of the roguelike genre due to how commonplace it is and how it usually results from risk-taking or the own player's stupidity.

But acid rain was actually pretty important to CDDA, sure it was annoying, but it was something that forced you to seek shelter and acted like a horrible force of nature unless you took the right precautions. Its like in The Long Dark where you have blizzards that'll kill you in a few hours if you're unprepared for it, and I can't imagine the game without it.

Hell its reason why the majority of humans are zombies now. Its just a really fucking weird choice in my opinion.

I kinda wish they would've simply added it back in as an option. Maybe they were going to only for the code to be to old to bother with.

Meanwhile I have now discovered that buckets can't collect rainwater from a funnel. Boooo. I salvaged enough plastic to make a a gallon jug, and have a replacement. Now I just need either clay or a steel frame, and I can continue on my quest to turn the helicopter wreck I started on into a metalworking paradise. I even have a mine nearby to harvest more metal if needed.

I also got irradiated as all hell doing a brief raid on the surface of a hazardous waste sarcophagus. So long as I don't grow a couple new toes, I now have a 100-liter drum to replace my shitty jug.

EDIT: Minus 1 to all stats and minus 8 speed presumably translates to "go to the hospital you dumb fuck" in real-life terms.

EDIT 2: The Pukening begins the day after that sarcophagus raid. Amazingly I haven't mutated yet.

This isn't Dwarf Fortress. o3o

And now, more sticks. Or maybe I should immediately make that crucible I'd been wanting.

I might start playing DF yet again, its been so long.

Other then that I've basically just played The Witcher 3, its so nice to finally get it running properly with Ultra graphics. Still haven't gotten used to the controls though. I'm not used to my thumb having more that one button to press.

Day two of the radiation sickness. I would very much like some Prussian blue at the point. Still no mutations, but random barfing is an annoyance.

For now, I'm raiding the first of these two fema camps again. Gonna try to dismantle the wood stove and get away with it. Because reasons. Construction-related reasons.

EDIT: Turns out that stoooves can't be deconstructed. Fuck.

EDIT 2: Wait no, it's because I forgot to get my tools out of the cart. Oops.

EDIT 3: Day three. Disease Resistant has mutated to Disease Immune. Better than growing a tail or something. o3o

Radiation has also finally disappated it seems, so no need to worry about further mutations for the moment.

EDIT 4: Puking continued for another day or two after stats went back to normal, but seems to be fine now.

Fascinating, considering the game has several things that can instantly kill you. Even if you are playing with the defualt starting scenario.

Hnnng, prison raiding. So much running around kiting zombie brutes through barbed wire because all I got is 1 9mm bullet and a shovel.

I fucking swear, when I get the rest of my metalsmithing setup finished, I'm coming back there in decent armor and a proper fucking sword, and every zombie in there is getting a couple feet of steel and/or bronze rammed down their throats.

playing first person shooters is impossible with an external mouse.
And now we come to the revelation. Every game I play, everything, is played with the touchpad on a laptop. My fingers dance across the touch pad, the smallest of adjustments to the most grandiose movements. Trying to play games with an external mouse, for me, is like pulling teeth. There is something incredibly disconnected and "impersonal" about using an external mouse. Theirs no "feel" to the actions performed on the screen with this backup mouse. It's almost like I move the mouse, and someone next to me has the real mouse and is trying to move it in the exact same way as I move my fake one.

TL;DR, I can't use an external mouse.
