Shameless necromancy ho!

I have a story from a 64-player game I was in:

So I had an unlucky start, as nearly all stars were out of my reach, so while I was safe from attackers, it means I would be at a disadvantage due to a lack of expansion. I decided to ally with a purple-elf guy south of me, but he was soon overpowered by some robot-insect guy, who was kind enough to ally with me. I eagerly agreed, as he was strong and could shield me from other players south. I soon got some tech that allowed me to reach stars north of me, and the first person north of me had a dozen or so stars and was just an A.I., so presumably he quit the game.

The A.I. is nothing special, so I ended up taking its stars. There were other A.I. even further up to my north and some to the east, but I let them be as they shielded me from some extremely strong players, and had many ships per star, so instead I attacked a player west of me. (Who wasn't an A.I., for once.)

He was about equal strength to me, so it ended up a stalemate. By then things have taken a turn for the worse. My ally down south was beginning to be overtaken by an alliance of two or so players, and the A.I. east of me was being taken by the player it was shielding me from. The player I was attacking was being taken by someone north of him, who allied with me. The only way I could expand was east, towards a player who was producing thousands more ships than I was, and greatly overpowered me. It seems 10 or so people let me join in on a joint effort to take him down, which was convenient.

Unluckily, the hope that the amount of players attacking him would make him pull back his ships didn't work in my case, as he took the difference in power to his advantage and took nearly all my stars, and my new ally took the my stars that were on his border.

Soon I realized my new ally's reason for doing this, as he left one of my stars alone. It was because he didn't want to let me completely die to the hands of the enemy that took most of my empire. Thus, he kept my one star protected by surrounding it and keeping it safe from the enemy. In gratitude, I sent him any tech I could.

I soon forgot about the round and didn't see it through the end, though.

So, anyone want to try and claim a galaxy for the UMA (Utterly Mad Alliance)?

We could do a 64 player game and get obliterated hope that we end up as neighbors to protect eachother, or at least try to survive until we end up neighboring eachother to steamroll everyone.

Or we could do a regular game and steamroll much easier.

I'm up for it. Still probably suck at the whole politics thing though.
