Skyrim; mods and help with modding
« on: November 13, 2015, 10:49:18 pm »
Hey everyone, I haven't been particularly active on the forums lately, as I've been very busy working, but now I have some time off.

So I want to finally get Skyrim all modded up and give it a good, long playthrough.

First off, I was wondering if someone who isn't banned on the DDA forums could look up my name over there and find the thread, should be one of the last few threads I started, called something like "Skyrim mod suggestions".  It has a bunch of mods that I used the last time I tried to mod Skyrim.

Next, I'm wondering if there is anyone who enjoys modding, who wouldn't mind adding me on Steam and using screenshare to walk me through the install process.  The reason I need this level of help is listed below:

So, the last round I went with Skyrim saw early successes but ultimately ended with a KO; I had it all modded up with almost all the mods I wanted, but then saving and loading times for savegames started increasing exponentially; It went from taking a few seconds one day to a few days later taking 15 minutes.  :-[ I have no clue where I messed up.  And now that I've been looking at install guides it's like I'm reading Chinese.  No, worse than that, Chinese that's written upside down and backwards, in code.   :o
EDIT: The other major issue which burned me out on Skyrim last time is that I installed a darker night mod that totally messed up the game; it made it so that even with multiple light sources and night vision I could barely see, and couldn't uninstall it.

Despite the fact that I spend a sizeable amount of my time in front of a computer, I'm really not a computer guy; if I could play games without a computer AND be able to use a mouse and keyboard, AND be able to use mods, I wouldn't own one.  Maybe for research and youtube. but that's about it.

So any help would be greatly appreciated  :)

EDIT: My steam name is HunterBravo1

EDIT2: Ok let me start the list of mods I'm currently looking at:
I have all DLC.
I don't know if the links to the mods I'm posting are the most up to date versions of their respective mods.
I also don't know which/any of these mods are (in)compatible with each other.
TBH, I have no fucking  EDIT: I forgot where I was going with that lol!

Red crossed out mods are ones that I have installed:

If you have been IP banned, I can try to dig through the topic for more specifics.

as a side note, exactly how much of utterly mad is banned on dda? I don't go there much anymore except to look at the experimental features log.

HunterAlpha1 is banned

I am perma banned for posting one post for HunterAlpha1, as that counts as ban dodging I guess? "He obviously doesn't care."  :(

Wilson is banned

Mr.EpicCheeseMan is banned (I don't think he comes on the forum often at all anymore?)

bah, alright. that's not ban dodging, but lets not start up this crap in hunters skyrim mod thread.

The set of mods I have make for ridiculous gameplay. I'm thinking specifically of one of the mods that rebalances dragons to be harder, but it also makes them spawn in huge numbers as well. I have a video lying around somewhere of no less than seven dragons and some of the stupid dwemer sky centurions from martigens attacking whiterun and also the horrendous bugs that came with that attack.

That might be it, I can't view it.
Could you please make a list of the mods that are on the thread?  I would be very grateful.

Lol I'm not really looking to make the game crazy like that, I just want it more "realistic", like for example When Vampires Attack and Run For Your Lives, and the Civil War Overhaul mod, to make it feel like there's actually a war going on.  Also a good vampire mod, can't remember which one I used before, but one that fixes feeding(I still can't figure out how the hell drinking blood makes your weaker) and adds sun damage, among other things.

Try opening the link through incognito mode. As long as you are not IP banned you should be able to see the thread fine.
It is how I look at DDA threads and then feel depressed missing the forum.

Ok, Ill put down all pertinent information. Ill spoiler each thing as not doing so would make this an ungodly mess.
firstly, your OP.
Spoiler (hover to show)
perigrin posted:
Spoiler (hover to show)
after that, a user called aravhorn posted:
Spoiler (hover to show)
wilson then brought up a mod called "frostfall." not gonna quote that as it was just one sentence. after a couple more posts from other about frostfall, you quoted a post by stopsignal linking to an article about a mod that adds erect dicks to all the male NPC in the game, and you stated "Erm, no thanks. I'm playing skyrim, not skyrimjobs." very witty.

datanazush mentioned SkyRe after which you asked about installers, load order managers, and script extenders.

KA101 mentions checking the link about the dick mod and stating that he "approves of the content."

something called RPS is brought up and a follower mod called Inego the khajiit, and then you ask about an ENB, to which perigrin says "cinema scope" but you stated later that it has bright nights and you don't want that, so aravhorn suggests:
Spoiler (hover to show)

stopsignal posts a link to rock, paper, shotgun:
Spoiler (hover to show)
and then perigrin:
Spoiler (hover to show)
theres talk about usable lanterns, but no mod mentioned and then you have trouble with SkyUI and mod manager, perigrin suggest you look for a compatibility patch.

Thats pretty much all there is to it, did I find the right thread? No lists of mods or anything, just suggestions from people.

Ok so I've got what seems like a good mod list, now if anyone is willing or knows someone who is willing to do screenshare so that the mods can be installed?   ;)

I've installed Teamviewer if that helps.

So I'm following this modding guide:

and it's FUCKING AWESOME!!!! :D :D :D :D

I had no clue that there was a guide out there that was simple and slow-paced enough for even me to understand, let alone by someone with a voice I enjoy listening to.

On this Thanksgiving I am thankful for Gopher and his kickass Skyrim modding guide :)
