Guess I could. Tempting at least. I'm guessing we'll use the current 43.05 version? If 43.06 comes out while we're running a fort, I'll presumably confirm whether the fort can be played in the next version.

EDIT:

Just to idiotproof things, using the version I have uploaded on DFFD, even though I keep the files themselves here on the desktop. :V

And now to fix my init settings, then gen a world. I'm gonna hope that saves are compatible between 32 and 64 bit versions of DF, or I will be saddragon.

Reminders to self: Only commit a Wrex if everyone else demands it, can't rely on walling the enemy outside as a primary tactic, do a year. That last bit shall be easier than Drunk Fortress at least.

As for embark, I suppose arid is a good choice. Glacier is...potentially painful, but less so than dwarves that are dependent on soil. This might be a rare instance where an aquifer is useful, if an arid region with a stream isn't an option. But I've also had bad luck with invaders, so being closer to potential hostiles will add to the fun (and Fun) too. So many things to look for.

There is an evil glacier, bordering a brook and tundra, and very close to some goblins. Why. Apathetic did say glacier, but I have no idea how Fun the evil will be. There's also a savanna that's hot, sparse trees, brook but no aquifer, and reasonably close to dwarves. Wat do. D:

Turn post will go here unless advice or other replies ensue.

EDIT 2: Glacier will likely be more painful due to how useful fishing and a water source are to bolds.

Doing a preliminary stab at the savanna to see how survivable it is. Now for the all-important step, assigning skills. Dorfing (bolding?) will ensue eventually, based on whether any of you has a request regarding what sort of bold to become.

So far have a miner/mason, a woodcutter/carpenter, a general crafter of various things, a butcher/tanner/cook, a fisherkobold, a fish cleaner (playing as carnivores makes fishing useful for once), and a military bold in case we get early fun.

Screenshot:
Spoiler (hover to show)

I'm also still irked that raw-defined brew reactions don't allow you to embark or buy the end product. So no embarking with mead for dwarves, and no embarking with kefir for kobolds.

Screenshot:
Spoiler (hover to show)

One of these days, I want to use that dipscript editor to make this more koboldy. But since I can't use it to edit the "greetings from the mountainhomes" trade message, it isn't worth the effort.

So, amazingly there are no horrid monsters awaiting us at the very start, and the area looks survivable, if a bit arid. Quickly setting up that fishing area, and the start of digging in.

Right on, I'll update the OP qwhen I get a bit more time.

I'll take the (likely doomed) military bold.

Also, what's a fayrus?
Gone. Cheers guys.

Oh hey what a coincidence, I wound up assigning you as warmaster on a whim. o3o

And a fayrus is one of the randomly-generated instruments. Will post what I'd been typing out and give status update.

Screenshot:
Spoiler (hover to show)

This is a thing. It will be useful later on. Also, lungfish. Kill it with fire.

Digging out basic storage, space for beds, future dining room. A crude cistern in case the stream evaporates might be useful too. Also, we have a coffee table.

Oh god, ostriches. They better not come fuck with us. Well project is going...well. Huehuehue. Lacking much grass out here, I've butchered the yak we got for free. Can gain crafts from it anyway. Plus we're starting to build up mussel shells, useful for armor as well.

The thing I screenshot'd has come to fruition. It provides a few hatches and a lone place to chain some wardogs. Hatches can be locked and SHOULD resist building destroyers if they're on the level beneath it. But of course, scouts will slip right through it. Plus I haven't actually tested this alleged exploit.

Screenshot:
Spoiler (hover to show)

in the meantime, decided to name the kobolds, in the absence of any real idea as to who wants to be dorfed as what. The chieftain serves as broker and the "designated guy to yell at" position, overseer is basically manager, shaman is bookkeeper and chief medical kobold, and warmaster is our militia commander.

Summer arrives on the calander, and Apathetic has gone from a military-only peasant to an animal trainer. Also setting up space to move some workshops inside.

Screenshot:
Spoiler (hover to show)

This thing will be useful if we ever get any invaders. You'll see eventually, at least I hope. Fortress doesn't look very koboldy, but if I went with a cluttered clusterfuck, everyone else might vomit at the sight of a kobold-kosher layout.

Migrants! Having bolded everyone that's posted on here, and a couple that haven't, I'll likely leave them to be named by others. Until then, any of them with useful military skills gets drafted. Which is actually a whopping 1 dabbler out of 6 assorted bolds.

Mid summer, starting to get things carved out and get production of stuff in gear. Mussel shells are piling up.

Doublepost because hnng, typing down my derping and screencapping like I do in Drunk Fortress makes for so much text. And unlike the DF forum, we don't have sexy toggleable spoilers.

Channeling out an area and I discovered an exploit. Even in this sparse savanna, if you channel out an area exposed to the outside, grass will grow freely. Could abuse this to maintain grazers that arrive.

And now, the point where I start dumping much-needed labors on the migrants that came with less in-demand skills. Six and Salt also need their own offices, I also oughta re-add an office requiremnt to shamans. They can't do bookeeping without it.

Fall has fallen upon us, and it's still a flurry of activity. Also, puppies. Got a trade depot up, by the way. Yes, kobolds are set to trade in winter. Remember what I said about scouts? That's what humans, dwarves, and elves will send as their equivalent to thieves, to preserve hostilities while still letting exports attract bolds.

Screenshot:
Spoiler (hover to show)

On the right, the refuse pile. On the left, where I intend to pasture grazing animals. The sheer amount of activity, and the lack of workers, as led to a flurry of activitty, plus a horde of dogs following ApatheticExcuse because he...ahem, SHE trained them all. No one can be spared to re-pasture them.

FUCKING dogs. Not pastured, so one is busy blitzkrieging a badger. Our unnamed second archer, whom I guess I'll bold as Zaweri, arrived to pasture it. And neither bold nor badger gives a fuck about this fight. Dog got a few bruises, while the badger has various dents and some areas cut open.

...why is it I just now realized both of my militia kobolds are female? Also, that motherfucking badger stole some mussel!

Almost late autumn, and more migrants. Got one useful bold, a spearkobold, I'll bold him as Bubbadoo. And while I'm at it, start up a spear squad for him to command. The remainer are useless civvies, and will get drafted because fuck it. Also got plenty of less useful lvestock.

With the arrival of winter, I'm starting to milk all the animals we've gathered. Already embarked with a decent stock of it, intend to set up a tavern eventually. Also splitting up finished goods into crafts, stuff we might end up using, and clothing.

Winter caravan arrives. Wilson is already a legendary miner, and I am still busy cranking out barrels and bins. We at least have some prepared meals and crafts to trade, so better than nothing.

Screenshot:
Spoiler (hover to show)

This is what I got to work with. Oh well, prepared meals are always so delightfully expensive. Too bad these morons are rather short on milk and cloth. Oh, and no leather? Boooo. No matter, got a decent amount of crap from them.

Oh right, almost forgot to let the bought animals out of the cages, and sell the cages back to them. And now, the time has come. Time...to brew the milk! Tavern is more or less operational.

Screenshot:
Spoiler (hover to show)

Do I even want to know? Bloody hell. Figurine description says it's a human that became an enemy of kobolds during a...rampage? I would assume a werebeast. Running out of mundane stone for mugs, also brewed all rthe milk. We now have over 560 units of drink.

And then Perigrin failed to drink, because job item lost or deastroyed. How do you even. And now Caconym did it too. Are they failing to find the mugs, or the booze?

A kobold bard arrives to vbisit our tavern, late in the winter. And I just realized how...ALIVE the place looks. When I first started, it was just sand and boulders all around, with the occasional shrub. But now apparently it's raining enough to keep the murky pools barely free of evaporation, and the place is covered in grass. I should've checked for rainfall on the embark screen.

Spring has arrived at last. Sorry it took so damn long. Save is here: http://dffd.bay12games.com/file.php?id=12348

Doh. Can always swap names if Perigrin doesn't object. I kinda just doled out names at random because no one was around to say what they wanted to be.

In any case, sorry for the massive walls of text. I'm used to spoilering them like in Drunk Fortress. D:

OP's updated, not that I think we're gonna have much trouble keeping track.

I have no problem with Salt going next if he'd like to. I'll take third unless one of you guys wants it.

All will chuckle slightly before my dog army!
Gone. Cheers guys.

It's fine. Shaman is good for me.

Spring come, and as is tradition the chieftain, the warmaster, and the shaman meet to commune with the spirits to see what the next year will bring. Such is the way of kobolds. Or at least the way as the shamans would have it. Saltmummy set aside the smoking smudge sticks she had been waving in the faces of Chaosvolt and apetheticexcuse. They were thankful for this, when they heard they would be needed to oversee the casting of bones, they had just rolled their eyes. For Saltmummy's part though, she was excited. She had only graduated from kobold shaman school two weeks before the expedition and so hadn't been allowed to officiate the casting for the expedition at the outset. This though, had been a moment she had waited all year for. "We move this along now Salt? Things to be doing." Said Chaosvolt. So impatient that one. "Yes yes." said Saltmummy, grabbing up a fist full of small carved bones collected from the carcass of the yak they had slaughtered the year before. She stood and scattered them on the clear patch of dirt between them. "What the bones say?" Asked apetheticexcuse. "Bones say chaosvolt is fine leader and picked fine spot." She picked up the bones and scattered them again. "Bones say Apethetic is fine example of warmaster, does good with dogs." A third time, she scooped up the bones and cast them. "Bones say... that not right." She picked them up and cast them again. Chaosvolt and Apetheticexcuse arched their eyes in confusion when the bones settled in the exact same positions as before. Twice more Saltmummy picked up and recast them and twice more they arranged themselves as they had been before. "Bones say... I in charge now?" Chaosvolt clapped once. Normally a kobold would not relish giving up leadership, but Chaosvolt had bigger fish to fry, bigger things she wanted to take care of. "Good fortune for you Saltmummy. You will be fine leader!" She helped apetheticexcuse to her feet, "We go tell the others!" The two kobolds left the oppressive heat of Saltmummy's hastily erected tent and it's aggravating smokes. "Why you give up leadership like that?" Asked Apethetic as they strode away from the casting. "Because being a leader is exhausting and I have more important things to do. By the way, you can stop talking like that when Saltmummy isn't around." Apetheticexcuse cleared her throat. "Yeah, sorry. I get so caught up in that sometimes. Want to get some spoiled milk?" Choasvolt nodded, "sure, why not."

Very funny. I see what you did with that group symbol.

I wasn't aware some dragons were into that kind of thing. It clearly made an impression on the kobolds though.
Oh, and zaweri just gave birth to twins.

Sowwy, on the other hand though the most interesting (to our kobolds) story our visiting bard told was about the time he ate a coyote.

As usual, bards are good for nothing in this game. I'm hoping this time we'll finally get some thieves. D:
