I just wewatched the trailers, and noticed something. bits were flying off of buildings. DESTRUCTABLE ENVIRONMENTS.
also, i love the colorful style the game has going, after 3 and NV im sick of brown.

I also saw a Synth, so we get to blow robots up.
Thanks Peri for making me question muh sexualities once again.

I came in here with the intent of stating that after watching the gameplay from E3, I dont like it. and then I saw the article wilson linked to and am placated somewhat.

I kinda like the fact that you can take down some items in the world and use them, but taking out that pile of tires and looked like a whole house. I really hope that the deconstruction isn't that OP and actually takes a little bit of time, instead of just poof the whole house is gone and is now instantly wood planks or something.

Yeah I'm hoping they just sped that up for demo purposes, but if not it shouldn't be too difficult to change. I can see why they have, for simplicity of game plays sake, few people are going to enjoy having to meticulously pull apart an entire house.
What I would prefer was if at least parts of the house were left standing, because obviously some parts are going to be unusable, although that seems as if it would be a bit of hassle.

Or you can take down a house bit by bit, like making a rough square in the wall. So it not only looks like you are realistically taking down a house, you could also make a window to snipe some enemies.

I just want them to hire better writers(ahh, wishful thinking) and NOT use dialogue d-pad in PC version.
I mean, fuck, after Fallout 3 I really am afraid of what kind of shit will they write this time. I doubt it can rival the almighty Purifier in stupidity, but it's Bethesda. You can expect anything from them.

story is unimportant. the gameplay looks good, and the world looks good.
and, really, who plays a bethesda game for the story?
you play it for the individual moments, and you makke your own story. i love oblivion to pieces, and put probably 2000 hours into it, but i only did the main quest once.

Yeah the D-Pad style dialogue isn't looking too good, although given that conversations no longer lock you into a menu I'm guessing the change was probably necessary and that was the best way they could think to implement it. I'm wondering if that locks you to only 4 replies at a time though, or if there'll be a 'more' option to cycle through reply options.

Given how moddable the Creation Engine is then it's quite likely that mods will be made for it though, so it shouldn't be too bad.

You didn't like what you saw at E3?
I've had time to think about it and retract my remark. what I didn't like was the bethesda reps talking. Having someone trying to sell me their game is annoying. I know I know, its E3, the entire point is to show off and sell the product to investors, but still. The cheering in the background was even worse. The only bits I didnt like about the trailer they showed itself was the lack of dialogue options an the fact that the main character talks to himself.

Part of the fallout/TES appeal is the immersion. Having the character speak takes you out of the immersion by disabling your ability to overlay your thoughts and motivations with the motives of the character. What was the motive of the characters in other fallout/TES games? whatever your motives were. Your character was a digital representation of what you wanted that character to be. By giving the character a personality of his own and introducing limited dialogue options, you take away the players ability to come up with a character that is truly their own, and a part of the immersion is lost.

As a side note, I cant stop thinking of the character from the fallout 4 trailer as "the investment banker"

Never found that to be an issue in the Mass Effect games.  Mostly because the characters in those games are generally written so much better than any of Bethesda's stuff.  Hopefully this time around they sort out that glaring weakpoint, but the E3 presentation wasn't exactly encouraging in that respect.  I liked what I saw of the mechanical groundwork, but the personality surrounding it, not so much.

The problem is that with this move Bethesda essentially kills any possible freedom of RP which Fallout is very well known for.
Hell, it renders good old 1INT retardo playthrough nigh impossible for obvious reasons.
