Suddenly before Holland would make his way down the stairs, he had an idea on how everyone could make it off this rock. He turned back toward the dying Merc and said, "Merc, I know you work for Twin Suns Supply. You know that I know that the only way you're getting off this rock alive is with Vae and the only way I'm going to live is the medical supplies on that ship. You can take the VIP and in exchange you drop us off at the nearest station. Besides, you know what they do to the family of Mercs who fail, right?"
There is probably no more terrible instance of enlightenment than the one in which you discover your father is a man — with human flesh.

The End

Marcus
You turn your head back up, to face the rain. It patters against your helmet and you issue your command. The AI says nothing, but a compartment opens up from the underbelly of the ship and a small rope ladder drops down to the rooftop. It plinks against the clay tiles, and you start to hear something banging against the front door downstairs.

Holland
You try to tear a strip of cloth off of Vae's suit, but your arms lack the strength with the amount of blood you've already lost. You reach underneath your armor and ball up your shirt in front of your wound instead. It helps, but only just.

Aaron
You run for the stairs, but looking down the step ladder to the condo, you can see the hungry faces of maybe ten or fifteen mutants pressed against the glass window, looking in from across the living room. One of them smashes the window, and they start to run in!

Escape is at hand!

"I- Is this really happening? Are we leaving!" Aaron says, he sorta hobbles to Marcus. "Um, listen sorry. Lemme help you up." He says, offering a hand.

Holland harble-garbles as he picks Vae back up and slowly starts making his way to the ladder. He was still weak and carrying another human being was going to be difficult.

The End

((Music, for your consideration.))

The Escapees
You all grab onto the ladder, and hold tight as it retracts back into the ship. You watch as the city you used to call home rushes away underneath you, seeing mutants swarm the mecha and the rubble of the apartment settle at a distance. It all feels so far away, now, as if it were another lifetime ago that you were sitting at home, enjoying life in its rhythms and simplicity. The grumble of the ship's rockets grows loud and then suddenly goes quiet as you're enveloped by the lower deck of the drop ship, and the hatch slides shut underneath you.

Your eyes adjust quickly to the darkness, and it reveals itself to be an automated sickbay. Two tables sit on either side of the room and robotic sets of surgical tools hang idly from the ceiling. A first aid box is mounted on the far wall, and to the right of that is a door labeled [STAIRWELL]. Behind you is the winch that was pulling the ladder upwards.

You three are beaten, battered, and bloody, but you've made it. Through mutants, explosion, bullets, and laser fire you've pushed yourself far enough to make it to salvation.

The AI takes a moment to run a scanner over the interior room, and sees that Vae is aboard. With that, the ship's engines rotate and pull full throttle and you all rocket away from the planet and to the stars.
