Spoiler (hover to show)
She started with only 3 in mechanics and 2 in fabrication, and that was it. other than the points I put into str and dex.

Something VERY interesting to me though, far more than the story or the succession as a whole, what did you do to this copy of cataclysm that it isn't crashing every three minutes and why are the saves so small?

I simply used a build I'd been using for a good while, which confirms it to not be pure shit? :V

For awhile, she just wandered around. She had time to think. At first, she was confused. Her confusion gave way to unhappiness. The more she thought about her and Nathans journey here, and what it had culminated in several days before, the more her unhappiness turned to anger and contempt. Anger and contempt for Nathan. Why would he take her all the way out here, show her so much of the world outside the room she had lived in her whole life, and then simply leave her? She had several days hiding from the strange creatures she encountered in the woods or spent shivering in the cold dark, to think about it. A week went by. She adapted. She didn't know it, but she had been engineered to be adaptable. Learning to live out here had been traumatic, but not difficult. The animals that barked had given her the worst time. "Dogs," she had once seen pictures in childrens books when she was still small. But the dogs weren't all friendly. Some of them were large, and howled after her. She knew to climb when she caught wind of the howling ones. The greasy black ones too. And the thin ones. They were even worse. The howlers would give up after awhile, but the greasy ones and the thin ones didn't. They didn't seem to eat. Ever. Big things in the woods too, with horns. They were dangerous. Shaggy furry animals with big claws, less aggressive, but bigger than the dogs. The buzzing things, and the spiders were pretty bad. She saw spiders all the time in her room, but never so big. On the first day, she'd stolen an egg from a giant web, but the egg had burst, showering her with ichor and small hand sized spiders.

There was something new in the forest now though. A familiar noise. "Catnip?" It was Nathan. She wasn't ready to forgive him, and just hearing him shout for her just made her angrier. What did Nathan always do when he was angry with her? He hit her. That might make her feel better. She was free now, she could do what she wanted. At first, she wanted to just ignore those calls, but now that the thought had come to her, she thought maybe she'd like to try another new experience.

"Catnip! There you are! I'm so so sorry, I shou-"

"Agh! Catnip! What the fu-"

"Catnip! No! Stop!"

"Please... why...?"

Catnip felt bad. She wasn't sure what this feeling creeping in on her, wrapping itself around her and squeezing like a giant hand, but she didn't like it. She believed it to be a feeling called "guilt." The thing was, she couldn't recall hitting Nathan so many times. She remembered perfectly the moment when he stopped moving though and the bit where hitting him suddenly wasn't fun anymore was very clear in her mind. The part in between was a bit fuzzy. She must have got a bit carried away. Still, she felt bad. She felt bad when she'd clubbed the howlers too, at first. Killing the howlers had been necessary though, and in the end it had kept her fed for a little longer. Taking them apart had been a bit gross though. She looked from where she was sitting over at Nathan. Definitely dead, but the thought of disassembling him like she had the howlers bothered her even more than the act of bludgeoning him to death had been. She quiet liked his coat though. Divesting him of his clothes, most of which seemed to be in her size, hadn't bothered her in the least. A few more days in the woods, her nights no longer spent shivering in the cold, and she decided she had to move on. Sticking around here just reminded her of what she'd done, and she couldn't dwell on such things if she was to accomplish her goals. Yes, time to move on.

OOC: I didn't realize you'd set the seasons so damn short. I glanced at the clock to see how much time I had left in spring and to my wonder, summer was almost over. Mostly I've been gathering parts and vehicles. Wondering what the hell my train was going to run off of until I found... A thing, let's just say "a thing." I will do the thing with this thing. I just need to keep other players in the succession from finding and stealing "them" (I found multiple.) as this train project is likely to take several turns.

Also, the acidic zombies are kicking my ass, and a survival knife doesn't fit in a sheath?

Meanwhile it felt like it took me ages just to finish up a single 14 day season. D:

"Hey-o baby doll." Catnip didn't look up from her copy of "fundaments of internal combustion." The pictures of the more modern machines in it were deeply fascinating. "what have you got for me Carmello?" Carmello snatched at his groin, "Oh baby, I got all sorts of things for you." She wasn't interested. When Catnip had first met Carmello, he'd made a pass at her that had gone completely over her head. Back then, she'd been keen on talking to anybody who didn't attack her on sight but didn't know a thing about how to do it without being... strange. Later on, she would learn. Carmello and others had brought her books. Books of every kind. From these and the conversations she had with others, she learned very quickly. It was obvious to those talking to her though that she wasn't quiet the same as everyone else. "Aw, baby, you ain't no fun. Here, I got some of the stuff. Any of these what you wanted?" She looked through the various parts he'd brought her. "Yeah, these I can use I think. How about books?" He pulled a couple childrens books out of his pack and lay them out in front of her. "I have all these already, thanks though. Be a... what's the word... dear? Be a dear and put them on the shelf with the others please." He sulked. "Sure sure. What have you got for me though?" She gestured at another book at the edge of her work table and Carmello opened it up.
"Catnip baby, this ain't the stuff I wanted. This ain't porn. I can't beat my bishop to this." Catnip didn't see what he meant. "It looks like porn. What's a bishop?" The book was an art history textbook. "Paintings of the Renaissance." Carmello decided he would just leave it. He didn't have the time to explain this stuff to Catnip again for what he thought would feel like the hundredth time. "Bishops a religious thing. Don't worry about it."
"Oh. But, what's religion got to do with your pornography?"
"Nevermind. I gotta go. Honey's at the refugee center expecting me."
"kay, see you later then. Don't forget your pornography."
"It's not porn."
"kay."
It had been a year since she'd been spirited out of the lab and left in the woods. A few days less than a year since she bludgeoned her handler to death. People like Carmello had helped her get by and even get used to the world as it was. For them it was hard though. To catnip, this was just the world she knew. To them, it was the ruin of the world they knew. They gave each other something to occupy themselves. They could provide for each other as well. Catnip gave them her mechanical expertise, and in exchange, they gave her chocolate. Most of all, they gave her information on where she could find parts she needed. Thanks to them, things would carry along at a steady pace. Catnip would need a lot of things before this was all through, and they would help.

OOC: If you take something, leave chocolate. Chocolate or plutonium cells. I NEED THEM FOR THE REACTORS!

Pre-Cataclysm Backstory:

Roxanne Luna grew in a small town in the New England region since birth. She knew not of wealth or poverty at any point as either a child or adult. While not a genius by any extent of the word she was smarter than your average joe, or jane in this case, which caused her to excel in her local school among her peers. To her it was trivial memorization and, being a small town and all, there wasn’t much competition or incentive to make the curriculum hard in the first place.

In school, from elementary to high school, she would be found in the library when not in the classroom just reading countless stories from all time periods. She did not play or talk with her peers during breaks, did not join any extra-curricular activities and shunned a communication outside of school save for the times she had group projects. The few times she was forced to participate in group activities she would find it was easy to convince others to do her biding. “Did you get an A in the previous project? I did not think so! So just do what you are told and we will finish this by the end of the week” She wasn’t like by anyone beyond her looks, not necessarily hated just had no friends since she talked to no one and those that she did was when doing group work where she was just ordering around. It was a mutual thing, she talked to no one and no one talked to her back.

Starting in high school she started to get an interest in the spiritual. She read religious text from countless societies and regions fascinated by their influence on the masses. She read of religious and cult leaders alike, she admired how they guided the masses. She took part in many rituals and made her own as well. She started talking to people to join her in her activities, mostly guys who though they could then sleep with her if they went along. This lasted until graduation ending with her amassing a small following among those with similar interest as her due to her knowledge on the subject.

After graduation, she worked retail since she had no interest in college and her knowledge dealing with people (including her bosses) made her fit right in. She was miserable having no choice on who to interact; she especially hated those who she labeled as unintelligent, to put it nicely. She wanted to do more with her life, wanted to lead as she did before, engage in the spiritual. She was considering a career as a televangelist but she would have to narrow her interests to just Christianity and she was not about to do that. So for the mean time she remain where she was slowly climbing the corporate ladder.

Roxanne was a frequent visitor of the dark web since many people into the spiritual and occult shared their experiences openly with no worry of social or professional repercussions. She had heard of online hitman before but had dismissed them as a hoax. One day in her usual browser session she stumbled open a new group who called themselves the “Shadows of Arcana”, their goal was to rid of the world of the “imperfect”. This peaked her interest as she had this believe as well after a few years of working retail, she wanted the “mouth breathers” gone. Interested she communicated with them, one thing lead to another and she met with them in person. Little I know but some of the members known as the “eraser” had an interest in Roxanne. She learned that this sect were paid hitman who worked for the religious saying they eliminated those in the way of the enlighten. She was told she would make a perfect fit from here desires, personality and skill set; the promised here power in return, the latest in bionic augmentation to aid her in her “quest”. Many successful “cleansings” allowed the order to have the latest toys, bionics included. She agreed to help their cause seeing as a way to escape he former life and getting to eliminate those who made it such a miserable time in the first place. The order satisfied her itch for the occult and spiritual and her desire to see the “imperfect’ gone as well, this made her committed to them until the cataclysm struck…

On here way to one of her “quests” was when it all went down. Roxanne was aware of the rumors but simply dismissed them for both implausibility and lack of interest. It was on her way to her target that the dead were assaulting the living, when those she had once enjoyed taking down now targeted her. They overwhelmed her vehicle, they chased her thought the city, they managed to cause a wound to infection…but she managed to reach the house of her target. They let her come in to hide from the chaos outside; Roxanne called the order but they did not pick up. She barely made it and it she knew many of them will, or had already, end like the masses outside. From what she had experience she knew it things had changed; know she will need to rely on those she once despised and was augmented to kill if she was to survive…she know had a choice, finish what she had came here to do or make them the first soul to help her survive…

Day 1: Roxanne concluded that all ties to the old world had been severed, including her current mission. She decided that she now would need to start anew, she decided to spare her target, Hilario Singh. She did not know anything about her target, she never did, except that he had somehow pissed off the order since they don’t just target people as far as she knew.

“At least we got shelter”, uttered trying to lighten up the situation. “Yeah” responded Roxanne, “What should we do know?” “We should get a car up and running to leave the city as soon as possible.”, Suggested Hilario. This seemed like a good idea to her, with how things are staying in the cities would be too risky. “What’s your name?” asked Hilario. “Roxanne”, she answered.” “Name is Hilario, nice to meet you.” “Yeah…I know…”, Roxanne thought to herself. Roxanne looked at her wound and noticed it was infected “Great”, she muttered to herself, “just what I needed…”. “I am going to go for a supply run before I leave, need anything?” Roxanne asked Hilario. “You know, this might be a bit forward but I think I have an idea of who did this.”, Hilario explained, “A little bit to the east passing the hospital there is an office tower that always rubbed me the wrong way, could you go there and bring me one of those corporate books and I will show you who is at fault!”. “Alright, I guess I can do that.”, Roxanne told Hilario, “Lets go then.” “Why should I go with you?” Roxanne was confused since she had realized Hilario was onboard when mentioning the car Idea. Nevertheless, Roxanne need a way to convince Hilario to join her as she knew she could use the extra hand; Roxanne extended her bionic blade making Hilario flinch a bit. “See this?”, Roxanne asked, “From the looks of it I say I could make a pretty decent body guard no?” “Fair point,” Hilario said, “I don’t even have a weapon…You got it, I am with you!” “Great!”, exclaimed Roxanne, “Now lets stop by the hospital to patch myself really quick”, Roxanne said showing her bite to Hilario, “and then off we go to the tower for your book.”

Roxanne and Hilario gather all the stuff they could before realizing they did not have enough space. They then went outside when the noticed a car was nearby. Upon further inspection they realized it was in working condition! “Jackpot!”, exclaimed Roxanne. They got in the car but soon realized the keys were missing. “Can’t you just hotwire it?”, asked Hilario. “I have never done so and besides we would need something like a screwdriver to turn the ignition which we don’t have.”, explained Roxanne. “So much for a car…”, said Hilario disappointed. “There are more cars out there, will find one that working.”, said Roxanne.

That’s when Roxanne noticed the clothing store. “Hey lets go there!”, Roxanne signaled towards the clothing store. “Why?, asked Hilario. “We might as well get more appropriate clothing for this situation no?”, said Roxanne. “If you really think so”, muttered Hilario uninterred. In the clothing store they did a quick clothing change and by the end of it Hilario had change to more practical clothing like boots and cargo pants while Roxanne was now dressed as if ready for the meeting of Royals. “I thought you said we were to change into more appropriate clothing?”, asked Hilario annoyed. “Just because we are in the cataclysm doesn’t mean I have to stop looking my best!”, exclaimed Roxanne. “There is no other person around her but me that you could ‘impress’ by your ‘style’…”, said Hilario with sprinkled sarcasm. “Is it working?”, asked Roxanne in a playful manner. “No”, asserted Hilario. “Fine!”, pouted Roxanne.

“Look!”, exclaimed Hilario, “There is a military Humvee outside!” Both swiftly went outside to inspect it. “Please let this one have them,” pleaded Roxanne, “Keys! It has them!” They both got on and turned the ignition; it would not turn on. “What’s going on”, asked Roxanne confused. “The battery must be dead, if we can find one that works we might be able to get this going.”, said Hilario. “It would be pretty sweet to ride around in this thing.”, added Roxanne. “That it would”, said Hilario pointing at the mounted machine gun in the back. “Lets get the one from the car that did not have the keys!”, exclaimed Roxanne. “Great idea!”, said Hilario in approval.

Once back by the previous car they lifted the hood to check the battery. “Its bolted shut…”, muttered, “We are going to need pliers or the such to get it off…” “Its always something!”, Roxanne angrily yelled. It was then when the head it, the moans of something approaching; a skeleton slowly creeped its way towards them. “Stay back,” declared Roxanne, “only attack if your life depends on it!” Roxanne approached the creature and contemplate powering her CQB bionic; she had no combat experience since her relied solely on it during her entire “career”. She decided against it in the end saying to herself, “This thing is slow and dumb, how hard can it be?” Roxanne then quickly slashed the thing to pieces, “Easier than expected if I say so myself,” Roxanne proclaimed, “its safe now Hilario, just be on the lookout.” “I am going to need a weapon if I am going to stand a chance out here.”, said Hilario. “You’re right about that…”, Roxanne said in agreement, “Lets get into that house and see if we find anything for you, or of value for that matter, before we head to the hospital.”

Roxanne and Hilario entered a house by breaking a window and swiftly looted the place. The house was mostly food and books safe for a few items. “Oh my god! I always wanted one of these!”, Roxanne screamed while pointed at a purse she found in a drawer, “Hey, there is also a backpack and trenchcoat for you as well.” Hilario put on the trenchcoat and backpack while Roxanne marbled at her new-found purse. “Wait, I am wearing all the cargo stuff…are you using me as a packmule?!” Hilario asked in an accusatory manner. “No! Of course not! Its just that I need to be as unrestricted as possible to be able to attack the dead.”, Roxanne explained. “That clothing, while nice, looks just as encumbering as mine…”, Hilario added. “Not the point”, Roxanne declared. “Anyway, we have ransacked this place and still found nothing I can use as a weapon.”, Hilario said. “Well, what are you good at?”, asked Roxanne. “I am good at cutting and piercing”, Hilario responded. “Then let me make something for you real quick.”, asserted Roxanne. After breaking a few pieces of furniture and scavenging the broken window Roxanne presented Hilario with a knife spear. “There, not as fancy as what I got going on but should do the trick.”, Roxanne said while giving the spear to Hilario.” I must say, this feels pretty good on the hands, thanks!”, Hilario exclaimed. “Now to the hospital! This thing is starting to hurt…”, Roxanne whimpered.

On the way to the hospital they had to cut through a patch of woods to avoid attracting the attention of the dead deeper into the city. Unfortunately some of the dead had been lurking by the outskirts and needed to be dispatched before they attracted the attention of others. “Ok, now that you are armed I am going to need your help, engage anything that gets too close.”, asserted Roxanne. “You got it!” exclaimed Hilario. The survivor due procedued to lure the stragglers to a chokehold on the back of a house and were they were impaled and cut by Hilario and Roxanne respectively. “Not bad, for a packmule with makeshift spear you can handle yourelf pretty well.”, Roxanne said jokingly. “I knew it!”, Hilario responded. “I am just pulling your leg. Lets continue.”, Roxanne commanded. After an uneventful pass through the woods the couple reached the hospital.

“Here we are, remember, we are not here to do a mass loot, we find the meds and we leave, go it?”, asked Roxanne. “Yeah, this place makes me uneasy already…”, responded Hilario. They slowly entered the hospital to an empty lobby. They descended down the hallway and inspected all the rooms immediate to them to no avail with limited visibility due to the lack of a flashlight. Roxanne led the way with here night vison augmentation. “How did you get those upgrades?”, asked Hilario. “It’s a long story…”, affirmed Roxanne. “Will you tell it to me one day?”, asked Hilario once again. “…Maybe one day…”, said Roxanne reluctantly. She suddenlty became lost in though about how Hilario might react if he were to find out about the order or as to why Roxanne had been sent in the first place. That’s when they heard noise. “You heard that? Something is nearby…”, Hilario whispered. The two of them then went out into the hallway once more to see two of the dead, but they were somehow different; one of them was covered in what looked like green boiling liquid and the other was bloated with purple sludge a spitter zombie and a boomer as they would become known as later on. “What the fuck is that…”, asked Hilario shocked. “I don’t know but something tell me we have to get rid of them quickly”, Roxanne answered. Soon after the boomer through its sludge at Hilary temporarily obstructing his vision but not blinded because of his safety google he was wearing. Roxanne was wearing a riot helmet she had found earlier, not as flashy as she would like but she knew it would be better in the long run, so she was not as worried about the sludge. Roxanne then quickly ran towards the spitter when it shoot acid towards the couple and it landed on their feet. “Ahhh, it fucking burns!”, shouted Roxanne. “Roxanne! Careful, that acid he is spitting!”, Hilario shouted back. “Now that’s not very fucking fair!”, exclaimed Roxanne when she got out of the acid, “It hurts like hell but we have to kill it before it shoot more!” Roxanne and Hilario then quickly dispatched the both the dead side stepping the acid. “That was intense…we need to find the meds and get out of here fast, something tells me there are more of them…”, Roxanne suggested. “Yeah, this place is too dangerous.”, affirmed Hilario.

After looking through what appeared to be every single room in the hospital and sustaining several injuries dispatching the dead the pair reached the last room. “This is just great! All of that and not a single fucking first aid kit or antibiotic! Oh but if you need an aspirin I can sure as hell hook you up!”, Roxanne yelled furiously. “Calm down, any other stragglers might hear you.”, Hilario responded. “We have been to every room here, I am sure we killed all of them,”, Roxanne responded back, ” besides, the way this wound is going, it won’t matter I don’t find meds for it soon…”. “We will find some soon, I promise, we just need to look else where.”, Hilario reassured Roxanne, “But first lets get out of here, my legs can’t take much abuse…”. “Same here…and you are right, we have to keep moving.”, Roxanne said. “Look! Is that what I think it is?” Hilario asked excitingly. To the end of the room was a CBM for an internal furnace. “That’s a Compact Bionics Module, it’s a toolkit with everything you need to install the bionic that comes in hand.”, Roxanne explained,” This particular one is an internal furnace, says it allows the host to consume organic matter to charge its power supply…could be useful if I could install it.” “To bad we can’t take it…”, said Hilario, “My volume space is full…” “That’s alright, I don’t have the know how to install it so It’s useless to us now.”, affirmed Roxanne, “Now lets get out of here, no distractions!”.

Once outside the hospital Hilario spotted a hatchback in the middle of the road ahead. “Lest go check it out, my legs are too banged up to continue walking…”, suggested Hilario. “Sure, pretty much the same here.”, Roxanne said in agreement, “Here its to hoping it works…” They go in the hatchback after a quick inspection. “Keys!”, exclaimed Roxanne, “Lets turn this puppy on!” With the turn of the key and revving of the engine the hachback turned on, they had acquired wheels. “Now that’s what I am talking about!”, Hilario screamed in enthusiasm. Roxanne proceeded to drive a few dozen yards out of a curve from the hospital when they were greeted by a nasty surprise on the road proper… The noise from the hospital skirmish had attracted a few dozen of the dead and they were in the way. There were to many cars to maneuver out of the way and they were quickly becoming surrounded. “We are going to have to fight…”, Roxanne proclaimed.” Roxanne and Hilario got out without a word, they readied their weapons and as soon as they got close they struck each one of them one by one. By the end of it they had sustained no injuries but the sun was on its way down to a sunset. “I can’t take any more of this…lets rest for today…”, Hilario declared. “Yeah…I am exhausted…and I am sure you are as well. “Roxanne said, “Lets get into that house there and rest for tomorrow. Hopefully we have more luck then.” “… We will find your meds next thing in the morning, I promise…”, Hilario reassured once more. “Thanks…lets secure the house so we can rest.”, Roxanne responded. The two of the broke into the house by prying a door with a crowbar they had made from a pipe inside the hospital. Once inside they closed all the curtains with no regards about any loot inside save for one; when they had opened the bathroom room to close its window’s curtain Roxanne found it, a first aid kit! She picked it up and then closed the curtain. “That’s all the curtains” Hilario said, “I the bedroom, had a big bed where we can both sleep at. Finally time to rest.” “You go on ahead, I have something to do first.”, Roxanne told Hilario. “And what would that be?”, Hilario asked. Roxanne simply showed him the first aid kit she had found and both of them smiled. “I’ll be there soon, save me some space.”, Roxanne requested. “Sure, don’t take to long, we have to leave early.” “Yeah, I know, don’t worry. This won’t take long”, Roxanne responded. Hilario went to bed while Roxanne patch up her wound saving the rest of the kit for a rainy day. With that done Roxanne joined Hilario in bed to finally rest after the first hectic day of many in the cataclysm. “Sit lux guide sancto sanctus…”, Roxanne whispered to herself before falling asleep.

Day 2:

Roxanne and Hilario woke up with no incident after a good nights rest where Roxanne had healed completely from all her previous injuries. “How is the wound feel?”, asked Hilario with emphasis. “It has completely healed along with my other injuries.”, responded Roxanne, “How about yourself?” “Everything is looking good except my legs; they are still pretty banged up”, answered Hilario.

Roxanne and Hilario had a quick meal from the food they had scavenge yesterday. They, however, had not managed to find many drinks so even after they finished they were still quite thirsty; Roxanne did not ask or comment about it to Hilario but she knew he was thirsty as well.

“Well, we should hop back into the hatchback and go to that office tower to get that book of yours.”, announced Roxanne. They went outside to find a few of the dead surrounding the hatchback. After a quick dispatching of then with no injuries they got into the vehicle and drove towards the office tower by off-roading via a field. The hatchback then suddenly stopped.

“What happened?”, asked Roxanne. “We ran out of gas…”, answered Hilario pointing at the fuel indicator, “Of course! Now what?”. “We walk I guess”, suggested Roxanne, “There are some woods ahead of us anyway so we would have had to go around or leave the hatchback anyways.” “So we cut through the woods?”, asked Hilario. “Yes, we will worry about a car later.”, responded Roxanne, “One thing at a time; for now we concentrate on reaching the tower and see what we can find.

They left the hatchback and procced on foot reaching the field. They disposed of a few wild animals that attacked them while in both the field and the woods. They eventually reached a clearing and found themselves in a campsite. “Look, there is tents and everything setup already!”, exclaimed Roxanne, “there is even an unfinished well and restroom over there!” “We could use this as a back up point if we need too.” Suggested Hilario, “but for now we should just continue since we are so close."

After walking through the woods some more Roxanne and Hilario reached the office tower. They entered a via one of many broken windows. “Stay behind me,”, commanded Roxanne, “we don’t know what’s down and here and I am the one with night vision.” They slowly trekked from room to room looking through stuff and fighting the dead that once were preoccupied with paperwork here. They eventually reached a room with a corporate ledger and Roxanne presented it to Hilario. “Thanks!”, exclaimed Hilario, “Now to find the culprit! …Wait…uh oh…” “What’s wrong?”, asked Roxanne. “I have good news and bad news…”, answered Hilario, “The bad news is that I can’t do as much with this book as I thought I could… However, one of them left the combination to one of the safes to the local bank! Why don’t we go there and find what’s in there?” “Might as well, we need to look for more supplies and a place to dwell soon anyway.”, Roxanne expressed a bit annoyed. They explored the rest of the tower finding a couple of drinks that they quickly downed. Once they reached the stairs down they found a few vehicles in the parking lot but they did not work and garage doors did not open. They gave up on the place as fortifying it would be a nightmare and continued into the town.

They traveled to a town south of them that was way smaller than the one they had come from. On the way to the bank with the safe they looked at the abandoned vehicles for items and a working car. The only thing of value was a jerrycan of gas they left behind since they did not have space for it and the stuff they already had was of higher priority.

Once they reached the town they realized that their plan would be fruitless. “Its full of them…”, Hilario grimly said, “Its way too many to handle… we have to go back…” “Yeah, you are right”, Roxanne agreed, “We barely got out of the hospital. We should get out of here before we attract their attention.” “Lets fall back to the campsite we found,”, Hilario suggested, “Its far from both towns and its protected by the forest. Besides, we need to leave our items somewhere before we can gather more loot.” With a simple nod from Roxanne they went their way back to the campsite.

Once there they picked their tents and a third for the loot. The three were close to each other in a circle with a chairs and a brazier for a campfire; cooking would not be a problem now. “So what’s the game plan?”, asked Hilario. “Remember that jerrycan we found on our way to the town?, Roxanne asked back. “Yeah, why?”, responded Hilario. “I am thinking we can take it and fill the hatchback we abandoned in the field to make it a grocery store in the main city.”, Explained Roxanne, “There two of them close together and we need the supplies and we know said hatchback works since it was gas that stopped us.” “I suppose you have a point… But why that and not any other car?”, questioned Hilario. “For one we know it works and will not have to hunt for one, “, Roxanne answered, “And second it is already on the side of the forest so we will not have to waste gas by driving around it.” “Well, then its time to get moving.”, said Hilario. “Yes, the less time we waste the better!”, proclaimed Roxanne.

Their route back for the jerrycan was going uneventfully when out of the blue they were attacked by a random man. He managed to slip unnoticed to both Roxanne and Hilario when he struck. He attacked Hilario before he could fire his weapon. Without a word Roxanne activated her CQB Bionic and adrenaline unit and rushed at the assailant at full force! After a quick exchange od blows and a few minor injuries the assailant was neutralized. “*pant*…Thanks for the help…*pant*”, wheezed Hilario. “Are you ok?!”, exclaimed Roxanne. “*pant*…It looks worse than it is, don’t worry about me…*pant*…Just give me a minute to catch my breath…*pant*”, reassured Hilario. Roxanne was not so sure about his claims but they needs the supplies and she need his help while on the raid so she took it at his word. “Alright, we will go in a few, but if you can’t go on let me know now to go back to the camp.”, Roxanne commanded. “No need, I am fine really. I’ll be ready in just a moment…” They eventually continued onwards and picked the jerrycan and went to the hatchback without further incident.

At this point in time it was impossible to ignore the thirst Roxanne was experiencing since it was starting to affect her performance. She knew Hilario would be feeling the same way but was oddly not complaining. She need to find something to drink and fast. Once they had pour the gas to the hatchback and went their way to the grocery stores relief came in the hope of refreshment as part of the loot.

“The grocery store is a not far from here and we can off road all the way there without alerting any of the dead.”, Roxanne pointed out. “Ok, once there we’ll just fight off whatever presence is there, get the items and get the hell away!”. Hilario exclaimed. “Yes, its getting late as well so we must hurry.”, Roxanne commanded. Once they reached the grocery stores they meet very little resistance and managed to pick up a shopping cart to aid them with the loot. “That was unexpectedly easy…”, Hilario said suspicious. “Sometimes things are that way, works for me!”, Roxanne exclaimed. They swiftly looted all items on the grocery store drinking any beverages they found along the way. When they were done with botj/ they had rid themselves of thirst but were out of drinks again. “Great, so we are going to have to loot for drinks again…”, Hilario protested. Roxanne paid no mind and took the now empty sealable containers and filled them with toilet water from the second grocery store. “Have we become so desperate that we will now drink toilet water…”, Hilario whispered in disbelief. “We will boil it when we get home to camp”, Roxanne explained. “Its either that or death for now, your choice.” Hilario simply gave a smug face and put the containers in the cart “Your appearance would suggest this would not be something you would do…”, Hilario whispered to himself. “What was that?”, asked Roxanne. “Nothing…just that we should find shelter for tonight”, Hilario said evading the question, “It’s too dark to go back to camp so we should wait it out until morning.” Roxanne looks around and see the sun barely over the horizon. “Fine, lets clear that house there.” order Roxanne pointing at the house nearest to them, “Thankfully it’s in the outskirts of town if we need to name a quick retreat.” With that being said the couple opened went inside the house closing all curtains and location a bedroom. Once they secured the house they had a quick meal before going to bed. “We managed to survive another day huh?”, Hilario commented, “Thanks for having my back against that lunatic.” “I told I made a pretty good bodyguard.” Roxanne replied in a teasing manner, “You must still be banged up from that encounter; rest up, we go back to the camp tomorrow.” “Alright, good night then.”, whispered Hilario before falling asleep. “A fast sleeper huh?”, whispered Roxanne to herself. A moment passed while Roxanne reflected on the fact that she had partnered and now defend a man she was order to kill. The order was all she knew for a long time and she did not question them once. Now, however, she was not so sure. “Sit enim ut captivi ducti miseratione amisit…”, Roxanne uttered before falling asleep herself.
