Wolf:
With the walker relatively close, you get out, and jump on down to the ground. James and Leon keep an eye on you and your surroundings.

You push the piece of suprisingly light wreckage away from the heavy. You then turn them over on their back.
There's no visible injuries, and the suit is definitively Unicorp.
The head-concealing helmet seems loose. You give it a light nudge with your boot, making the helmet fall off, and roll over to the side.
You've now got a pretty good look at the person behind the mask. For starters, it's a woman. She's got a painful-looking wound buried in her short black hair, and a split lip.

Seems like she's breathing though, and the jack doesn't seem to be more than a flesh wound.
Before you get to consider your next move, she slowly opens her eyes. She looks at you, seeming confused.
"Where... am I?..."
I regret nothing.

"In the wreckage of a crashed Atlas. A SAM shot it down and I was sent to investigate. Can you tell me about what it was transporting?" Duncan says as he helps the woman up and over to his tank.

Alex looked around a bit. "Where is everyone?" He said, noticing the lake of planes, tanks, and men.

Wolf:
The woman gets up with your help, and rubs her head. You then walk over to the walker, and continue the discussion.
"I... don't know. They didn't tell me..."
She picks up her helmet, and inspects it. She then turns her attention back to you
"Private Moore, heavy engineer. Who are you guys?"

Alex:
You look around. The Lumberyard is an active base, with many units in motion, both combat and non-combat.
There's the Lumberyard HQ, the armory, the hangars, the garage, the hospital, some various barracks, and the base's bar.

There's no sight of any of the other soldiers you arrived with. But considering that you're quite late, they've probably moved on with their assignments.
Speaking of assignments, you have none. In training they taught you that if you find yourself without a squad and a CO, you should either reassign at the nearest HQ, or if on the field, join the nearest squad.
With Uniware's lacking organization however, this situation means you could pretty much do whatever. So long as no superior figures out you're without command.
I regret nothing.

"Actually, yes.   I was fixing the fence over by the hanger, when I found...   This."   She brings up the thermal picture of the two in the bunker.   "Now I'm not sure if they're some of our guy I wasn't told about, but I believe I should report it anyway."

"I'm tank-commander Miller, also known as Wolf. Please try to relax while we wait for reinforcements to med-evac you outta here."

Smasher:
The desk-jockey takes the PDA and looks at it. He then looks at the accompanying coordinates.
"Hold on for a minute..."
He walks on into the command center, and talks to a high-ranking officer. The officer looks over your findings, and seems to hand out some orders to one of the computer-operators.
The desk-jockey then returns to you, and hands back your PDA.
"The major though that it was some interesting information, and has dispached a squad to investigate. We'll get in touch once they've checked it out.
Was that all?"

Wolf:
Moore tries to relax as you await reinforcements, but that wound is pretty distrcting.

Eventually, you hear the sounds of an entire wing of VTOL's. They spread out over the crash site, and let out various troops and equipment.
One of the VTOL's land next to your walker. Riding it is none other than the colonel.
He gets off first and walks over to you, while the troops aboard move into the site.
He's smoking a cigar, looking agitated.
"Give me a SITREP corporal."
I regret nothing.

Well Sir, I managed to secure a one, Pvt. Moore, from the crash site. Minus a possible concussion she should be fine. Other than the report I gave earlier, it would appear what cargo this thing is carrying is gone. Sir, may I ask what it was carrying?"

"Other than needing another thing to do, yes, that I all."   Hettie heads off to the garage to search for jobs.

Wolf:
"That's confidential corporal."
A medic comes over to adress Moore's wound.
"But I have to admit that you've had quite the first day here on Vita. I've read the reports. 3 tanks, 1 self-propelled AA, and an assortment of infantry, all while going solo."
He empties the ash from his cigar.
"The major has pestered me to give him some able forces for some more discreet operations. Raids and whatnot. So I'll offer you and your crew a chance to become the major's "able forces". Either that, or it's back to the frontline. Interested?"

Smasher:
The desk-jockey stops you before you leave the HQ.
"We happen to need an engineer to assist the capture of one of our old observation posts up north..."
I regret nothing.

"I'm ready and willing, sir!" Duncan says as he gives a salute.

Now that he thinks about it... his first day has been pretty abnormal.

Hettie nods and turns to leave, but stops.   "So, stupid question, but where would I request a transport?"

Attention all units. The day is coming to an end. It is now sunset.

Wolf:
"Good. I'll have this VTOL carry your walker back to the Lumberyard. Speak to the major in the HQ."
The medic finish bandaging Moore, and moves on.
"And take her with you. She's in need of a new squad. Dismissed."
The colonel walks over to the squads surveying the crash site, leaving you with your walker, and new squadmate.
"Well... seems like I'm a new crewmember? I've never rode in a walker. I've only got the basic technical rundown..."

You'll have to signal the pilot when you're ready to return to base.

Smasher:
The desk-jockey seems amused
"Request? No, the strike teams are about to leave! You'd better make your way to the helipads!"
I regret nothing.

(So if the tank seat's three, where will our new member sit?)

"It's probably fine. When we get back to base, the boys will teach you a bit more tech savvy skills in case we need to do some quick repairs or stuff like that."

And with that, he'll signal the VTOL to take his crew back to base.

"Really?   Shit!"   Hettie runs for the helipad, hoping she can still catch the extraction.
