Backstory: Phillip was born in Canada. Schooled as a welder, his chosen career fell through when the local oil economy dried up in the mid-2000s. Having nothing better to do, he joined the army, serving with no particular distinction. His travels while enlisted, and his encounters with many people of different cultures did instill in him a gift with languages to compliment his inborn 'way with words'. After being discharged over some vague, sticky business, he spent his time bumming around before realizing he could make reasonable money running confidence games. Reasonable, however, isn't necessarily "enough".
