The suited man dripped the cherry red liquid into his shot of bourbon, "A little bit of something the R&D boys cooked up, promised something that packs an extra kick." He turns around to face the board room table, with only one occupant sitting in one of the cushiony chairs. A woman, DNA mixed with some primate mutagen they made a long while back, gave her a tale, turned her feet into an extra pair of hands, and a mane; still she was stunningly beautiful under all the changes. "So they're finally laying us off, not for playing God. Not for breaking the many, many rules that came with the responsibility of tangling up human and various DNA samples for "evolutionary purposes". But because of a goddamned merger." The once wealthy CEO says while throwing back the shot, the taste burning as it slid heavily down his throat. She nods still reading over the package that came with their removal from the company.
"I-I mean we're the faces of the company, and BAM! Just like that, "Fuck you, bye, bye. We're letting these retards who know literally nothing about anything take over your positions simply because of job experience.", frustrated he grabs the bottle off the shelf it was resting on and pours himself another shot. "Just like... fuck... what am I supposed to do now?" She adjusts the glasses and looks over to him, "I dunno the package is nice, they're letting us collect a small percentage of whatever products are still being sold. That and we still got to keep our spots in The Coalition council." She shuffles the papers together and pulls out a joint from between her breasts. "Still these new guys, they haven't been in the field we have they're going to end up fucking it up, the company is going to bottom out, or worse who knows what they'll let slide." He slams back another shot and paces back to the window, looking out over the shining city the desert sun still high overhead.
"Phillip, there's no need to worry. Everything will be fine, and besides not like we really had much of a say in anything." She sticks the joint between her teeth and lights it up. "We just threw money at things and hoped they worked out, and it's not like that stopped half the staff from doing whatever the hell they wanted too." She starts walking over to the door, "Now I have an office I still need to clean out, you staying in here?"
Phillip kept his gaze out the window, staring at the busy streets below that seemed to be dancing in the heat. "Just a little while longer, I want to enjoy the view."
Meanwhile in the current day....Under The CrustYou walk into the bathroom, the tile feeling warm beneath your feet. The
thing in the mirror twists and contorts into several forms, some more horrifying then the last,
it's seriously starting to affect your head now... It doesn't respond to your demand, but you see your peripheral vision darkening your focus is solely on this thing in the mirror. You're trying to piece together some solid image but you can't, you can't look away either.
The back of your neck begins to tingle, your breathing is becoming more labored, you swear you're starting to hear voices.
Something... about a cave? No, a building, lost to something, time, buried under the sands. You think you hear something about a church. You can hear something slithering behind you and the sound of meat being torn off of bones. The stench is rank, like bodies decaying mixed with the cent of sulfur. Everything is hot, burning hot.Your eyes start getting heavy...
You open your eyes once more. You're on the floor, the bathroom tile is cold and smells like dried piss, there's blood leaking out of your nose, your skin is red, and the tips of your feathers are singed. You feel like a turkey dinner.
STALKERsThe Captain sighs,
"Well that's just great. Heading where he came from might help us in the long run though." He gestures for one of you two to peep out the staircase.
