(I'm not exploding at Vulnus, just the idea of 2016 as the worst year)

Only in the echo chamber of the internet is 2016 the worst year. Some of us have had worse years. 2016 was just like any other year with the exception that it had an election in it. You know what was a worse year? 2014. Why? Among many other things, my mother died. 2016 has been fine compared to that. For most people the ONLY reason 2016 was "the worst year" was because Trump won the election. They don't understand how the electoral system or the government itself works, and they didn't get what they wanted. Perhaps if Clinton hadn't cheated Sanders out of the election, we would have had a better choice over the orange chicken nugget in a wig we had to go with. They bitch and moan in that echo chamber, making it sound like a bigger deal than it really is, making it sound like more people are upset than actually are. Yes, 2016 was unpleasant, but the only way in which it would have been "the worst year" would be if the worlds nuclear arsenal and power plants spontaneously combusted all at once while everyone was collectively crapping their pants after eating some bad chicken. That would give the horde of whiny millennials something to cry about. Even then though I'm sure a few people, myself included, would be excited about the coming nuclear apocalypse. Also I can imagine some people being very excited because they shit themselves.

If anyone wants to insist that it was the worst year though, it's all right.

I don't think anyone here stated that 2016 was the worst year. For me personally? Yeah, my grandfather died, my grandmother got diagnosed with dementia, I've had a couple of my cats die, and it's just turned out to be an all around shit year. But worst year ever? I doubt that, especially as a history buff I can point out where things were most certainly worse, like the years where we had some diseases running rampant and killing tons of people that we now have cures for.

It's not been the worst year ever, and I doubt the talking pumpkin will do too much damage, or at least irreparable damage. It's sucked for the entertainment industry and a lot of people around my age since actors who we've watched since childhood have started dieing at an alarming rate.

my previous post was both trying to be a bit of humor and pointing out we've done good things too. I don't like to dwell on the shitty side of things even though we do have to talk about those things to some extent. At the end of the day I'd just like everyone to try and end the year on a positive note, but it's most certainly not the worst year ever.
