What snapped me out of my suicidal funk was realizing what that would do to my mother. No parent can ever truly get over a child commuting suicide. That's all the advice I have.
He does not care about his parents or brother, again he's a misanthrope.
Though I wonder is he could be doing it for attention because he says if he had the chance he probably would have killed himself earlier... but he's afraid of being disabled? I really don't think someone in a depressed and suicidal mood would care about it failing and becoming disabled.
