Me and Wilson kinda derailed a thread so making this. Essentially if you were a mod some place, or have a question about what it's like, here's the place to share.

So since I got some experience as an RP mod here goes

Things you'll inevitably deal with [from my experience]
1: The one guy who wants to derail all the RPs and not actually RP, or: the guy who treats them as a game and doesn't do the RP bit
2: The porn RP guy who wants to turn every RP into pron...
3: An RP having a huge issue
4: A player having their character do something [completely in character] that will piss off other players

Things you might deal with
1: Having someone who's just a general dick, but makes good content.
2: Arguements about RP, the number of RPs, the quality of RPs, and others

Things you'll probably have to deal with [just period as a mod]
1: An arse who won't follow rules
2: someone who just constantly straight up lies about himself, or things in general
3: someone who will give you a fake sob story trying to get your pity
4: Have someone contradict themselves and try and pass blame onto someone else.

Pretty well some stuff I've run into/seen happen.

I'm honestly surprised that no one said anything about my RP's. To put it bluntly, they were crap. People might of said it in nicer terms, but to put it simply. They were piles of steamy horse crap.

I think I make good characters and come up with good ideas. Just I can't execute them.

Yeh, no more making RP'S for me until I get better.

---

The reasoning behind that mini-rant there was I kinda thought I made RPs that never really went anywhere.

The major issue with being a mod is when forum members you actually like misbehave and you have to ask them to stop, which comes across as authoritative no matter what, or take some kind of moderator action against them. You don't have the option of being nice to them simply because you like them because they're still doing something they shouldn't and your job is to deal with that, regardless of who it is.
Makes you feel kinda bad sometimes.

Also the issue of being totally unsure of if you were justified in doing something sometimes, which I know Bubba has had to deal with. It's a bit more of a problem on this forum since we're specifically against moderating something based upon personal opinion but all moderator actions come down to personal opinion to some degree.

Also it's appreciated that you made a separate thread for the derail.

Yeah, saw that me and Wilson were derailing and figured I should go ahead and make a place rather then expect a moderator to do it for me.

On topic
Yeah, it's hard when it's someone you like, it's also hard when it's someone you dislike.
With people you like, well SiegeLion described it.
With people you dislike you have be sure your opinion of them isn't factoring into your action as a moderator, which is something I personally had to deal with. In the end though on both sides of the spectrum, whether you like someone or not, you have to be fair and objective about the situation.

As far as being justified and being uncertain about it, I can emphasize with that. So far any moderator action I've seen has been good. I personally so far agree with all of Bubbadoo's Mod edits, especially some of the spoilering of images(I looked at one of Lurkers images, nearly threw up on my keyboard...) since some of what's been put up is gross, disturbing, and we had a few semi-lewd images in a thread that wasn't really for that.

Also to Wilson
My first ever RP that got off the ground was complete crap in my opinion. It wasn't good, I didn't have mechanics that well figured out, and then I had a few players just stop posting and I didn't do anything. Keep making trying, experiment with how you do them or with mechanics, just keep trying and you'll get better.
