The last thing I played was Battlezone! (I don't really remember if that was the name) that is an RTS that puts you in first person inside one of the space tanks and you control them all from there while also going to war inside the tank. It's really fun.

Go ahead, but stick a warning that discussion of their forums is to go in the separately marked thread

Right now I'm playing Dwarf Fortress. I've recently struck admantine and will construct bad ass weapons soon. My Captain of the Guard recently cut a troll in half with only an iron short sword so that was pretty bitchn'.

Same, man. A kid is making a rock artifact, I filled my moat with magma, and I'm trying to capture an FB using cage traps and a trained giant cave spider. I already have the FB in a drawbridge trap - I just want him in a cage.

I'd trade you my legendary Bismuth Cage if you'd trade 100 gold bars.

So, I've said it before and i'll say it again but...
At what level does FUN start to happen in DF because I waited for like six years and nothing ever happened...

That depends on A LOT of factors but I'll try to cover them. First, it depends on where you settle. Good biomes are easy and evil biomes are spooky dangerous. Next is if your home civilization is at war or not. Next is if you've dug deep enough to hit caverns [there are always fun things in there.].

Realistically kicking an animatronic would definitely break it.

I don't have gold and I already have a legendary tiger eye cage. Also, most of my fortress's wealth comes from selling worn clothes. My weavers, dyers, and clothiers produce clothing that is often worth over 1000U, in massive amounts. I give tons of profit to merchants. Trade with Bastiongate is a path to great riches.

Would you rather have 50 platinum bars or 2000 lead bars, because I can give both.
Title: Re: What are you currently playing?

I'd rather take the platinum so I could make the dankest final resting place ever. Legendary Tombs for all my best Warriors.

LoL is pretty fun. I play Graves or Corki personally, but those are the only ones I've bought currently so I might add more to that roster. For some reason in the majority of matches I've played I end up soloing bottom lane because everyone wants top or jungle.

I'm usually the guy who goes Jungle. I just bought Vi, and her jungle game is so broken, it's incredible. What's your username, if you still play that is.

I don't play much, been meaning to play more though. I think it's Vulnus, but I don't know yet as my LoL client is updating, and it appears to be a large update or I missed a bunch
EDIt: It's RedVulnus. Figured it was one of the three I tend to cycle through.

Yeah, we should do a community game night, open to any members who want to join. If it's a game like LoL where it's groups of five we do our best to make even groups. Definitely something we ought to try and figure out.

But the long game time is what makes Fallout 3 & NV great games. The long playtime and repeatability make it well worth the money.

If any of you are looking for a relaxing, renewing game that you can play on your browser for free, I would suggest going here: http://a-way-to-go.com/

I can't give any explanation for it, you just have to try it yourself.

Picked up Battlefield 2 for five bucks at a book store. Enjoying it, though I've been playing mostly some of the mods for it that I can run single player. Soldiers of Fortune mod is fun, but I wish it had a bit more content.

You can circumvent the auto embed without spaces by using the URL tag (http://www.google.com). That test link just goes to Google, but it should stop it from auto embedding.

So here's a game that I'm not currently playing, but well on my way to be playing. It's a little unknown gem by the name of Persona 3 (I'm joking I promise), and I want to get through 3 and 4 before 5 comes out later this year. My friend turned me on to it and I've been trying to get an emulator running and the rom, but I keep running into trouble with pesky adware and probably privacy violating viruses on my computer! Thank god for system restores, am I right fellas? I feel like I'm reading a choose your own adventure novel. I keep getting the bad, computer ruining endings, but I still have my finger on the page I came from, bitches. Once I get it up and running, which I will, I'm very persistent, I'll be sure to make the main character's name a mixture of everyones' name on the forum! What fun!

Call me irresponsible, but I kinda leave the smaller cuts. If I get shot and its bleeding heavily, I'll let it bleed out. However if I got several bleeding wounds, broken bones, and a nasty gash across my face, then I whip out the magical medkit.

Otherwise, my character looks like this 420/7 24/7.

Been playing LoL a lot recently. The new champion, Bard, is a fucking God that basically runs around the map collecting chimes and playing awesome tribal music. He can also essentially 'stun' his own team if he's in a trolling mood.

Bard is new best champ, 11/10

hahHAH! I disagree. He's actually pretty bad imo. The best plays I've seen are getting a stun on someone, but unlike Vayne that stun against a wall/another champion is only for a few seconds and unless Bard's team is on their shit, they're most likely going to miss out on a kill/Bard gets rekt because no one is there to help his defenseless ass.

I've also seen them Journey behind turrets to snag a kill on a weak opponent, but his damage is so trash when he builds support that it's literally throwing a needle at a boulder. (On that note though I saw one Bard where he went behind a turret and stunned the enemy so that his ADC could turret dive and get the kill. Which was the best play I've seen by far.)

He's really not an OP champion or unbalanced, I thought his Zhonya move would be the bane of life and a reason to surrender, but 9/10 Bards end up hitting the wrong people, or just wasting it all together. In the mean time, I can't wait to see more OP champions like Nidalee get buffed up with AP damage that RUINS EVERYTHING. Until Bard gets a buff or something happens, like people learn how to play him, I'm not interested and I'll stick to Ahri, Vi, and Amumu.

Title: Re: What are you currently playing?
Post by: Jakers on March 14, 2015, 04:37:17 pm
LOL DEBATE TIME! Well, I've never considered him as 'OP' or very powerful compared to other newly-released champs (such as Yasuo), it's undeniable that Bard is one of the most fun champions to play. Not only that - but his role as a utility champion (maybe not even a real support) is something unique that's somewhat new to LoL. His Q could use a buff to make him a more damaging champion, such as using increasing the range and speed of the skillshot. Whilst you can upgrade his meeps to do some nice damage, the fact that his Q is the only damaging ability he has does indeed make Bard pretty trash for damage.

However, his E can be absolutely invaluable if used correctly. You can bait enemies into 'traps' with it, and believe me, once you can nail using Bard's ulti (which most Bards can't do) it's really fucking good. His W is meh. Tbh I wish Bard's W was another damaging ability of some sort; it isn't really that great at all.

All in all, I love Bard because he's a completely different experience to playing the game in my opinion. Even if he's kinda trash in terms of you can't really build him for anything other than being a useful utility dude.

Give it time, and I think Rito will buff Bard at some point.

Ahh, the benefits of being a console peasant.

Too bad it's like 30 FPS locked because 1080p.
Or was it that they moved it to 60 FPS and 720p.    I don't remember.

If I could get a new console I'd probably instead spent the money on stuff to upgrade my computer, either way would result in me being able to play more games though.

Battlefield Hardline is so goddamn cheesy that it reaches a Nirvana of fun that hasn't been touched by Battlefield since Bad Company 2. I can commit racial hate crimes police brutality without being called a racist, I can taze people as a criminal, and I can shank people with a pimp knife... even as a cop.

This game is something magical.

Turn off the steam overlay.

Otherwise GOG has some guides on how to fix it, like running it in XP mode.

Also I'm almost done with Call of Cthulhu Dark Corners of the Earth. After I'm done beating that I'm either going to play Deus Ex 1 or I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream; I picked them up for cheap during that "Cyberpunk" sale.

My Thoughts on Call of Cthulhu Dark Corners of the Earth since I finally beat it:

I wanted to like it, honestly. I'm a fan of HP Lovecraft ever since I found out about his creatures and monsters. And the first two chapters were great, I liked exploring Innsmouth and I liked the raid on the Marsh Refinery.

But Goddamn after that boat chapter the game became unfair, difficult, and made me feel like the game was crafted by Cthulhu's own evil hands. Bugs fucking everywhere, to the point where I had to download a speed-cheat just to beat the ending: Basically you're escaping a city being destroyed by torpedoes, you're also on a very short timer. So in the Xbox version Jack ran faster, that means you could always escape in time... well in the PC version Jack runs like his feet have bowling balls strapped to them. So you can never beat it in Vanilla unless you get really-really lucky and managed to speed your way past the fallen debris.

So after a great 5 Hours worth of gameplay, you get another 7 hours worth of bugs, glitches, bullshit trial-and-error gameplay, and a load more stuff that makes you feel more frustrated then helpless. There is some charm to be had though, playing it reminded me of the games I used to rent from Blockbuster or Hollywood Homevideo; where the game would be fun and easy, until you hit a threshold and have to rewatch the same cutscene over and over again until you beat it (IE: Kingdom Hearts, Pitfall for Gamecube, God of War, SOCOM, Final Fantasy 10 was notorious in my neighborhood for that fish boss bullshit), then you either get lucky or you rage quit.

Eitherway, it taught me how Bethesda still made buggy messes of a game even in 2006.

Bethesda can write amazing storylines and lore but their execution is abysmal, I'm sure their coders are a group of monkeys and their art directors are great, but the actual artists, like the modellers, are also monkeys, since most of their games are quite ugly for their time.

On topic though, I started playing Total Annihilation with the Escalation mod again recently.
Need to find some decent, well made and expansive mods for TA but most of them look like they're a copy of Escalation or just poorly made.

Since all the RP'ers are a buncha douchebags that need to have their 'special snowflake furry creatures' and then have sex in all the places. Seriously, why does HRP on Space Station 13 suck so much dick... and I mean that literally.

The only one that I haven't been to yet is Vorestation, and despite the name I heard those people are actually really nice and accepting... except for the fact that there's a ton of Special Snowflakes. I might visit there once to see how it is; then regret my life choices and head back to Goon.

I started playing GTA V again yesterday, I finally got enough money to buy a new apartment that allows you to do heists; its a fancy apartment that is perfect for missions due to its locations. I've had like three missions and one whole heist turn into an easy walk down the block: Need to steal a armored car from some Koreans, just gotta walk down the block; need to murder a bunch of bikers doing heroin in the cemetery, gotta walk down my block and clean the streets.

I've almost made all my money back from jobs (200,000 was spent on the house, I'm almost to 100,000 just need 20,000 more), and I'll get some pictures posted of my "humble" character and his surroundings... also I'm on a quest to head to my other home in the wilderness so I can get my pink scooter back.

Math has always been the basis of weapons and warfare.  You won't necessarily win with numbers alone, but without math on your side the odds are stacked against you.

Take, for instance, Line vs. Column formations in 18th century style warfare.  With all else being equal(morale, training, equipment, etc.), Line beats Column hands down.  If I have a regiment of 500 men, and am faced with an enemy brigade of 1500 which is using Column 20 ranks deep, I will deploy my troops in an open field in Line formation, 2 ranks deep.  Each and every musket in my Line will be able to fire, whereas in the enemy Column only the first 2 ranks and a few on the sides will be able to fire.  As long as my troops are disciplined, I win.

Math is warfare, warfare is math.

Survivor squad is interesting, though it can be frustrating. Currently I've only got two survivors who are both near half health, and the intersection to where I need to go has just been retaken by zombies so I've got to clear it... this is going to be fun...

Dues Ex: Game of the Year Edition (the 2001 game, not the new one with Mr. "I never asked for this")

Okay I'm going to be honest, I'm not sure why I never played the Deus Ex games. They seem right up my alley, neon lit streets, great writing, and unforgiving RPG mechanics that can fuck you over in the first playthrough.

Well I bought the 1st a month back for a $1 during that Cyberpunk steam sale, and I booted it up. I didn't know what I was doing and I wasn't in the mood to configure keys, graphics, etc... and I died at the statue several times. Well fast forward to that Deus Ex teaser for the new game and I went back to it hoping to figure it out... I did.

I spent 8 hours in that game playing it like Metal Gear, shooting people with tranq darts, jumping off of buildings and beating the living shit outta terrorist scum with my baton. Then the shit normally hits the fan when I miss and I end up whipping out my shotty and blasting them, turns out that you can still baton them after you shoot them a couple of times. Well I didn't know that and massacred a whole bunch of people when I blew up the generator.

Now the arms guy is pissed off at me, my brother probably hates my guts, hostages died when I was raiding the hotel, and a ton of UNATCO soldiers ended up getting turned into swiss cheese while I was saving a hooker from her pimp and saving guys from being mugged. I guess I should quit playing white knight and help my guys first before going off to side-quest. Oh well, at least I got more multitools and lock picks outta the whole ordeal.

Also this damn song is stuck in my head: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YfsYfEA9OMs

"I'll take a beer"

"My vision is augmented"

"I'll pop a cap in his ass too"

It goes on sale frequently a 5$ is already dirt cheap for a great game.

Also obligatory I need to reinstall it now.

I just got done playing a custom match on War Thunder. After getting tired of putzing around in my P-40 Kittyhawk and P-400 fighters, I decided to have a little fun with the default US plane, the P-26 Peashooter. I loaded it up with 2 100-pound bombs just to see how much of a pain I could be before getting shot down again.

Apparently, a single 100lb bomb is enough to one-shot most tanks in the game. I took out about 5 or 6 tanks doing this, though I had to wait about 7 minutes for my bombs to reload in between attack runs. Sometime in there, another plane shot me and I started leaking oil, but I decided to hover around the combat zone until my bombs were ready for one more run before heading back to base for repairs (oil temperature was rising to about 248oF in flight).

After my 5th tank kill, I managed to catch myself in the blast of my own bomb and started leaking fuel. I decided to head back to my team's airstrip for another repair.

My guess is that the other team was less than pleased with seeing <"So-and-so (Tier V Heavy Tank)" destroyed by "Me (P-26 Tier I starter plane)">, and I got kicked from that particular match.

It's free to play if you go straight to their website (www.warthunder.com (http://www.warthunder.com)). Also, I most definitely would make a video, but I don't know of any free camera software that doesn't restrict recording time to 5 minutes--though if you point me to one, I might just give a shout-out once I get such a video posted.

Open Broadcasting Software. Bit tricky to set up, and it HATES certain games and PC set UPS, but if it works, it works well.

OBS is becoming increasingly popular lately, I have it but I've never used it, always used Fraps.
Title: Re: What are you currently playing?
Post by: BadSniper on April 10, 2015, 05:15:28 pm
I think someone's suggested OBS back on the DDA forums, but I'm running Windows XP and I'm unsure if it will work (website only has an option for Windows 7/8 downloads). I was eyeballing Fraps for a while, but then I noticed it costs money if you want to record more than 30 seconds of video.
Title: Re: What are you currently playing?
Post by: Six on April 11, 2015, 08:21:59 am
I don't remember Fraps being too expensive and it is pretty good to be honest, it just has problems with large raw file sizes, but if you've got the storage space or don't keep your videos on your computer then it's absolutely no problem at all.

Not that I'm saying you should but you could always pirate fraps

Deathclaws/Cazadores don't get back up after being killed once. They also don't shamble around like zombies, nor do either deliberately dodge left and right to make guns a real pain to use. Plus, Cazadores/Deathclaws make roughly animal-like sounds; Ghost People make an unearthly strangled gargling sound, which really creeps the shit out of me, personally.

The Ghost people were pretty creepy to be honest. I saw a mod that fills the entire wasteland with them, maybe you should try it out.

There's something deeply unsettling about anything that gets back up after you've killed it. Although to deal with the issue of them dodging around constantly, which is pretty irritating, just beat on them with that bear trap fist you get off 'em, they're not quite as scary up close after the first few times, plus that thing often takes limbs off instantly so they don't get back up often.

I think the creepiest part about them is their erratic movements and the backstory behind them (especially once you delve into Old World Blues).

They were just workers trying to clean some bioweapon out of the air conditioning and ended up getting trapped in a suit that slowly mutated around their skin. On top of that you don't really know what they actually look like, they could just look like ghouls, but maybe they don't.

Then there's what Dean Domino says about what they do to outsiders, how they drag them off into the fog never to be seen again. Seriously the most nerve-wracking moments during the Gala Event was having to face 15 of the fuckers, and quickly you learn that running away isn't the "pussy" option here.

I can only imagine how horrifying it is to find them lurking out in the wasteland... at night.... in the dark... holy shit what if you had that Darker Night mod on and all you could see of them are their glowing eyes. I'm going to go get my Dinnerbell for comfort tonight, anyone wanna join in the hold out?

I don't think they even are any form of human anymore, Dog/God says that they have pockets of pressurised gas inside them, and they literally breath 'the cloud' through air vents on their suits. Plus even after they're actually dead/dismembered they still keep breathing.

I haven't gotten to the Dead Money DLC yet, as I like fucking about and making almost no progress in an IRL days time. I did how ever finish Honest Hearts before entering the strip. [So I could reset the reputation for nuking both the NCR and Legion's hometowns without cheating.]

I love how buggy radscorpions are, the giant kind in particular as they tend to be the buggiest. I have had many wall scorpions as I call them where they phase through a wall, or will either be sideways to the ground or just flat out fall through the world.

I rarely see Radscorpions that aren't bugged out. Oddly enough it's bark scorpions that do that most frequently, despite them just being reskinned versions of a regular Radscorpion.

Bugged out Giant Ants are also hilarious, especially when one just flings itself across the sky.

I've been playing Bloodborne and CS:GO. For some reason I've gotten a ton more into twitch-based skill games more then anything... might have to do with the lack of excitement and action in my life.

New Mexico, the land of Meth, terrible sandstorms, and fukkin c@sino (apparently the word c*sino is a swear word... are you kidding me?)... (I'd also put Mexicans but that's a given... did you know that I saw the actors who played Vaas and Trevor (Trevor from GTA V) walking around town.  I actually never finished the first Borderlands because I thought it was Boringlands, I did get quite close to the end of the game though before it just felt too grindy and repetitive for me, plus I never really found any of the characters that interesting.

Borderlands 2 was a whole different story though, I'm not entirely sure why because they didn't change a whole lot but I think it was the characters I enjoyed, Handsome Jack is almost unquestionably one of my favourite video game antagonists and a lot of the characters were actually interesting to me. It was also nice to see how things from the original game had developed and changed, like the town of Fyrestone.

Yeah, though I(and I'm gonna sound like an arse her) I hate when new players take all the advanced roles. If your new play Rifleman, not elite, just rifleman. You'll get used to how to play, all the quirks of the game, and it will let the experienced players do the specialty roles well. Once you've played a few matches then try one of the other roles.
If you want to try the TL or SL roles, play the tutorials, and then ask to try them, but be honest that you haven't played the role in multi before. A bad TL will not only kill the chance of winning for a team, but it can be detrimental to enjoying a match if the TL doesn't know how to do his job. I'm more forgiving if I know your new to the role, so be upfront about being new. Same to SLs.
Oh. and it's annoying when people TK you for running because they don't know the difference between a Russian sprint and a German one. Russians hold their weapon with both hands, Germans with one hand. Oh, and the Russians wear brown uniforms, and Germans a greenish grey.
Sorry for the rant, I should probably make a new thread later.

I've almost finished 100% Hotline Miami 2, why do I put myself through such torture? Because once I get twitchy and good enough, I'll know how Dennaton figured out how to make these levels flow the way they do; that way I'll have the best understanding about how to design a level that keeps your combo going without cheaping your deaths up.

Along with that, I've really gotten into Payday 2 and Guns of Icarus Online, both games are great with some really fun people playing on both. Yesterday me and some dudes fully cleaned out a Jewelry Store and Bank within the time span of 2 minutes; and after that I played Guns of Icarus where me and my crew were making fun how our ship was made from cheap Chinese knock-off parts from Craigslist because of how much our ship was catching fire (the guy thought that holding W was how you kept your ship afloat instead of tapping it to adjust), they were really fun guys to play with and I added them to my friends list. (I was mostly engineer, experimenting with all the different tools and guns, learning the Goldfish and Junker's layout, I even destroyed 2 ships yesterday) After that I had an intense hour battle where we were constantly shouting at the captain to change course so we could get a better shot. All-in-all 10/10.

Yeah, rifle man can suck to play as since your stuck with a bolt action, but you can still shoot at a decent enough pace in my opinion. I've got forty or so hours into the game and I still mainly play rifle man, though that's partially because when I get on my favorite campaign servers their pretty much full.

Rust turned from Caveman Penis Simulator to some stupidly profound game about survival and what you'd do in order to reach the top of the foodchain.

I've been playing Payday the Heist.
Ran into a troll yesterday. Had a guy join and point it out, and the troll and his bud left after me and the other guy talked about how it was our first time having to deal with trolls in person.
Well ran into one of the two today, and got kicked because he accused me of cheating, something I've never done in either payday. Quite pissed about it.

Hacking in EYE is difficult, don't worry.

It's an incredible game, it's also broken as fück and has a lot of brilliant, yet poorly made, ideas.

A remake by a more competent studio would almost certainly win Game of the Year awards.

Me and Lorknis just got done playing space engineers. i decided to make a gravity cannon, whcih uses artificial gravity generators to accelerate a projectile at 500 Gs or so, to send it screaming off at 150 M/s. Well, for the first exercise i decided to send a spaceship. so, Lorknis gets in it, i set it off, and, long story short, he ends up 20 KM away, and i have to keep shooting missiles with a beacon stapled to it out of my MASS PUMMELER so he can navigate back.

Secondly: E.Y.E Divine Cybermancy, really enjoying it but I need to reroll my character so I can actually buy some weapons since my stats be too low...

E.Y.E is great, I played through it once with the GCTG-222 with the Betty boom, and then used the 444 bear killer with the Depezador for my next couple playthroughs. I used the TRK A.D occasionally too, mostly in later levels where it was useful. E.Y.E has great gunfeel. The sulfatum is t i t s though. the last playthrough I did was with a friend and I used the 444 and sulfatum while he packed the smaller of the sniper rifles and the rotten mound.

If your having trouble getting the good stuff, try the S6000. its got low requirements, great accuracy, and the shots can go through walls.

A friend and I are playing system shock 2. We didnt have to go through all the fiddledee fu cking about with all the utilities I read we needed to get it running, just typed in the IP and it went. He keeps getting blown up by the robots and I keep stealing all the nanites.

Tried ST Robot Race for the first time and it's actually kinda fun until you figure out how to hoard healing materials and notice that mod chems still work.
Also hit 140 limit on mods and now trying to figure out all the merging stuff.

I've been on a sandbox survival kick recently, its been a mix of DF, Rust, and The Forest for the past couple of days.

DF is an all around great game, but my only complaint is that its really slow, not like in terms of FPS because my PC can handle 1 good catsplosion. I mean more in terms of "progress", maybe its a newb thing, but I never feel like I'm getting anywhere in that game, like sure I can find Adamntine and then start the long process of that; but it feels like my dwarves are never doing anything, brewing drinks, hunting game, planting crops etc... and what makes it feel like the problem is much more worse then it actually is, is the constant stream of "Job Cancels" due to these three things: not enough [Plant] spawn, invalid path finding to return kill, can't brew crop due to lack of plant type.

It just feels that I take one step forward... off a cliff. I do have a nice fort going, and I have a military mobilized. Its just been a constant string of reading the WIKI and then going, "WHERE OR HOW DID I GO WRONG!?" Oh well, I guess that's DF in a nutshell.

Rust has also been getting progressively fun, my advice, stay off the Seattle server; the people on the Seattle server are a buncha Chinese and Korean pricks that shout things in broken English or their native tongue, expect you to drop to your knees and give them your shit, but they end up capping you anyway. Also most of the griefers and hackers seem to gravitate around Seattle. But I met some people on there that are pretty cool, apparently the name Manny Pardo either gets people riled up with either love or hatred. Needless to say, my few Rust lives have been way more successful on the Texas 2 server from 12AM-5AM, it wasn't until my buddies logged off that I quit the game.

Also they're adding female models into the game (this Thursday, they're in the code), and your body/panis size (no you can't change it, its like everything else, its a roll of the dice and perm-tied to your SteamID) in now in the game. I'm now a thin, anorexic, lanky Asian man with a small panis.

The Forest THIS GAME IS LIKE SILENT FUCKING HILL WENT, "HEY YOU KNOW WHAT WOULD BE GREAT!? IF WE PUT SILENT HILL IN A FUCKING NATURE RESERVE!" Why, the new sounds they added are like an instant 'Nope' button. I threw a rock into the woods to see if there were any natives in there, I got responses with throat singing, several loud screeches, and the insane giggling of a woman. Next thing I knew there were about 10 of the bastards running out of the treeline surrounding me and tearing me apart.

And now on my current life I've made it my active goal to NOT be seen. Which is even worse. So many times I was inches away from getting killed, these are some ugly looking bastards and they scare me like no game has before.

Its loads of fun, but due to me being a pansy I don't play it for that long before quitting. When I went in, I expected Robbaz-styled shenanigans, what I got was a phobia of being alone in the woods. 10/10 would crash my plane in Canada again.

build torture rooms
build a massive tower

Been playing Metro:Last Light a bit lately,
Can I just say fuck everything from the ferry section onwards in survival/ranger mode(ammo is hard to come by and no HUD)? I've been using bullets sparingly throughout the game, focusing on sneaking around, now it seems to constantly throw into sections were you have to fight waves of enemies while waiting for something (and their kinda bullet spongy compared to everything before), leaving me with almost nothing for the bosses which show up shortly after and soak up everything else. Can't even use military grade rounds(basically currency in the game) because I have like 4 left after buying all the ammo for the weapons I had.
Somehow there's more claymores than ammo, so I have to place them down and try and get bosses to charge into them head-on.
Title: Re: What are you currently playing?
Post by: Six on June 28, 2015, 10:56:36 am
I never could like Metro and I'm not sure why, it felt like a game that should have been more open-world and it sort of tried to pass itself off as being open-world when it wasn't, plus I could never get used to using ammo as currency. It's pretty much a linear STALKER and it just didn't feel right to me. It's still a good game though.

I've started playing Oblivion again because nostalgia, sort of tempted to get Morrowind too but I didn't play that nearly as much as I played Oblivion. Hunting down decent mods, and installing them, is a bit of a pain though because I'm so used to using the Nexus Mod Manager and it's almost useless for Oblivion, since a few mods don't cooperate with it.

Trying to find mods based around a mage character, since they're usually my preferred class and I really like Frostcrag Spire.

I've spent the past two days modding oblivion, it turns out it crashes every single time I try to close a book. I like reading the books and a lot of my mods are based around books.

I can supposedly fix it using Wyre Bash but I absolutely fucking refuse to learn to use it, I barely accepted using OBMM, but it sort of looks like I have to use Wyre Bash instead.

I played rust for a couple hours the other day. a small portion of it was relearning how it works, an then they rest was spent ambushing people with the bone knife and eating their corpses, busting down wooden doors and eating the occupants, and discovering sleeping players who I would cut apart and eat. fun times. died of radiation.

I also tried out wolfenstien NWO, downloaded it. Its great, and the violence is a treat, but my PC was acting oddly while it was installed and then blue screened (it recovered) during a cutscene transition, so away it goes. too bad really. I liked it.

and I got my nuts kicked in tales of maj'eyal. That game always has a way of tapping you on the sack when you think you are doing well.

Yeah I'd appreciate that, it's kind of hard to find decent mods for Oblivion, especially ones that work together.
Also should I stick to OBMM because I know how to use it, or learn WyreBash because it's supposedly better and actually required for some mods, yet it's apparently a bit technical to use?

I am playing LISA. It's the first RPG of its style (JRPG?) In years. I've yet to find anything really "depressing" yet. some shocking bits here and there, but eh. still a great little game.

This has been my Dishonored playthrough, I decided I didn't want the good ending and that I just wanted to slaughter fucking everything that moves. I've been attempting things in these videos, the results have been a mixed bag, sometimes I'll pull off something badass, other times I fumble so hard that I accidentally fling myself off of a building.

Mostly been playing Heroes of the Storm with some Dirty Bomb, Skyforge and some mobile stuff (FFRK) on the side.

Heroes has been kind of nice.  First MOBA in a while since I stopped playing League entirely last year that I've been able to stomach for any length of time.  Only downside is the real $$$ required to unlock heroes is a bit on the steep side, but they give you a fair number of ways to earn gold ingame, so it hasn't been too bad.  Though I did drop some money during the opening week for a starter pack and a 30 day stimpack cuz discounts.

Very easy for new players to learn and is a great introduction to the genre for newcomers, but there's enough there for the better team to come out on top.

I had a lot of fun with Dishonored in my pacifist undetected run.

It's too bad actual nonlethal options were so limited in the game.  Spent everything improving Blink and that was it.  All the more interesting toys are lethal.

Yeah I do have to agree, I always went the nonlethal route in the game and it kinda got monotonous after a while. I mean you either just outright avoid the enemy (BEST OPTION) or you just run through chocking and darting everyone.

I mean Metal Gear Solid wasn't much better in terms of nonlethal, since the most effective way was MK2+Headshot=CQC, but you kinda had more toys to work with like the Playboys, masks, and in 4 you had the emotion magazines which were pretty fun.

But I personally feel that it makes sense in Dishonored's context. The whole game is a test of temptation, will you use your powers to avoid combat and use them as a humble helper of people, or will you use your powers to gain power, feeding into what the Outsider expects you to do. But that's also kinda the problem with Dishonored 2, from what the trailer shows, it goes the High Chaos bad ending route. Where Emily becomes an assassin with Corvo, with the Outsider playing them both. But they could also allow you to chose if you were a low chaos or high chaos Corvo much like it was in Knife of Dunwall.

Has anybody here tried path of exile? It's a good game. It's also free. Sort of like diablo except the world is more akin to dark souls. They've been doing some kind of races recently, I'm rather baffled that some people can manage to beat that game in a little over an hour. A friend of mine who is more into that sort of thing claims its all down to not collecting quest rewards and only stopping to pick up things you absolutely must have.

Since I have gotten a better computer I have been playing a lot of my games.
Right now I am playing the Red Orchestra 2 multiplayer. I swear I never see any rounds that don't have realism. Also that a majority of the servers that actually has players in it seems to always have a high ping. :v

Red Orchestra 2 is an exceptionally well-made game.  Definitely not for everyone, as it has that special brand of realism that makes it, say, unpalatable for the mainstream.  But Tripwire Interactive knows their gun porn without a doubt.  Never played a game by them with guns that weren't fun to shoot.

Still waiting for more updates to Killing Floor 2 before getting in deep with that game.

That and you have all the PTSD inducing death sounds. I didn't even know you could go blind in that game if you got shot, imagine my surprise when I get hit with a stray bullet and next thing I know I'm trying to figure out what the hell happened...

But then again I have only played RO2 on my laptop, so my graphics card might've shat itself. I'll have to play sometime and see if its true.

I recently managed to get my War Thunder launcher working again.

Considerable progress has been made upgrading the British line of aircraft, but little luck has been had with the US tech line, between getting the crap blasted out of me by MiGs, LaGGs, Yaks, and pretty much every other Soviet aircraft in existence, and on account of the American planes' (rather) poor dogfighting capabilities.

It's awesome compared to the original with strictly ASCII graphics (which I don't mind, really.) I've never had so much fun with this game. Witcher 3, I'm getting some severe burnout from playing nothing but Bethesda RPGs, you can start to see line graphs with how all their quests are set up, and New Vegas's story can only be replayed for so long.

I forgot I owned the Witcher 3 on GoG, so I'm going to install what feels like a 7-disc installer, and play through the game while I wait for Metal Gear Solid V to come out next month. And hopefully I'll be moved by then, also I've been taking online JavaScript classes on CodeAcademy, I'm not sure if that's what SMFnew2 uses, but if it is, I could probably spruce up the place, maybe get a better looking newsfeed, or fuck it code an entirely new webpage for us.

But that's if I ever get around to it, and if we ever find a place to host a new UttMad.

Been playing Metal Gear Solid 3 on the DS. I'm used to the ****ty Peace Walker controls, because my PSP was nothing but a Peace Walker machine back in middle school. I nearly S-ranked every mission, I managed to tranq every Monster Hunter boss, I got the secret endings, I got The End camo, hell I even got some of the Japanese promotional items in the game through the internet along with the T-shirts you could download in the game. Yes, I have beaten MGS3 on consoles, yes I'm aware that MGS3D is the inferior clone. But like Solid Snake and how he got the inferior genes I still love it all the same.

But sadly, my PSP bit the bullet and died for good. Laser for the disc reader burned out from playing to much PW.

I think that's why I'm more hyped for MGSV instead of Fallout 4. MGSV looks like Peace Walker on Ac!d (see what I did there, like the PSP game Metal Gear Ac!d?), I mean that whole thing with the Dark Souls-like invasions on Mother Base is just cool. Maybe its blind nostalgia... or maybe because I try to ignore Metal Gear news so that when it becomes a month from its release I get stupidly hyped to play it.

Here's hoping that Kojima gets a better company, and him and Del Toro make their horror game. Can't wait for the ****ing pachinko machine for Metal Gear Solid to come out, its not like that'd pour another keg of salt on the wound. I mean FNAF gets a movie deal, Silent Hills gets the can, and then Silent Hill gets turned into a Pachinko machine? Jesus didn't die for this!

Yeah, played the PS3 port of Peace Walker and instantly noticed the similarities between MGSV and that game.  Makes sense since it's pretty much a direct sequel.

been getting back into Heroes and Generals. They've made a lot of improvements since I last played. Still hate the players who will purposefully go into  chat and say 'reported' when you accidentally team kill. Whatever, it was my bad, I figured I'd get reported no need to be an ass about it.
As a note what brings this up is a round I recently played where I threw a frag into an enemy building and got three of my teammates with it, and one of them decided to just go 'reported' in chat, nothing more nothing less. I hate it when people just say stuff like that.
Title: Re: What are you currently playing?
Post by: Six on August 12, 2015, 01:01:02 pm
Reporting for getting killed by a frag seems a little silly, since you know, the point of them is sort of to throw them somewhere you can't quite see because you want to make sure there's nobody waiting to fućk your day up. Any time I play any FPS I accept for a fact that a teammate is going to throw a frag at my feet without realising it, probably more than once.

Also I pretty much never use grenades, I'm not sure why.

I LOVE grenades in games, and i am scarily good with them if the connection isnt lagging. My brother cussed me out once while we were playing Space Marine, because i kept using the Blinding grenades to blind the shit out of him, and then going in for my very slow 1 hit KO. He is STILL pissed at me for that, I got 50 odd kills doing that.

Does anybody else remember the absolutely spectacular, addictive trainwreck that was Two Worlds?
Imagine a budget Oblivion with 20x the content but like half the amount of total gameplay, and sort of weird controls.
Also console commands on consoles.

Spent a lot of time dicking about on it when it came out, recently decided to pick it up again and I'm not regretting it at all.
I tried playing the second one and the nostalgia, of lack of, is mostly what's keeping me from enjoying it, plus the fact that is doesn't work properly because a lot of textures are unplayably broken for me.

Reinstall the latest version, and install Rookie Mode instead of the other one. It lowers item buy prices, raises sell prices, makes you a tad more durable, and makes enemies less bullet spongy (I killed a guy in an exosuit with less than a mag from a MP44). Zombies are actually harder to kill than in the base, unmodded game though. By a huge margin at that.

No, its still WAAAAAAAAAAY harder than the base game, its just not unfair like Misery usually is. A wood stove is like 1500 rubles, charcoal is 800 a bag, and mutant meat (if you don't just hunt it yourself) is 500 for raw Flesh Bacon. And, like I said, its just less unfair.
Title: Re: What are you currently playing?

Well, yeah, I knew it was still gonna be harder than the base game, it's just sliiightly easier than normal MISERY.

I find that I'm actually pretty good at ultra-realistic game-changing mods like Wanderer's Edition, MISERY, Project Nevada, etc.

I think it's my tendency to be able to sit there for hours at a time, patiently waiting through the loading screens after death and trying again at a different angle. I'm never actually that great at the game itself, it's just dependent on patience.

I'm the opposite. I'm good at games (cept for EYE for some reason), I just have little patience if it isn't a strategy game. If it isn't one, then I just play to have fun, when I stop having fun, I leave. Strategy games I am willing to sit for hours to watch my little soldiers kill everything. Realism is good and all, but when it stops being challenging and fun, and starts being boring and stupid unfair, I bail. Cataclysm had that problem, among others.

Cataclysm was a perfect example for me. When I didn't have anything else to do, I could power through three hours of slow gameplay until I finally amounted to something. I find myself a lot worse at fast games. Anything multiplayer, I'm gonna lose. I've got no real reaction time; half of any kills or wins I get'll be reflex or luck.

I can play UT2004 with the bots on the third hardest (out of 15 I think?) difficulty level, 20 at a time, on instagib mode. I'm good at games, I just get bored easy.

Yeah me with games I tend to take things slow and methodical... even when I play Doom or any fast paced shooter like CoD it's just how I am. I don't think my skill at games is very good, and in multiplayer games I tend to be behind the team taking in the area and such. Things like Alien Swarm others are way ahead but I am back trying to stay at pace with the others but also wanting to read the logs that are around the place, Goonstation adventures are the same thing too when I can catch AJ online. Thinking about it System Shock 2 is one too, because I like to play coop because I am a wuss and won't play much in Single Player, but any chance I can get I like to sit back and read the logs.

I used to be amazing at FPS games, especially in multiplayer, though it's been a few years since I've played them frequently and my skills have diminished.
When it comes to Strategy games I'm incredibly slow and methodical, in games like Command & Conquer I tend to go somewhere between a Turtle and Steamroller playstyle and wont finish a game quickly.
RPG's are an odd one for me, because I enjoy them a lot but I play every one differently and sometimes it just doesn't work for me, like in Fallout I play with as realistic settings as I can, every single hostile encounter is almost certain death yet I only die real early with new characters on the way to Nipton. But with most other RPG's I'm a careless marauder, smasning my way through everything and taking things without a thought of caution

Got Two Worlds II working, spent the last two days playing a mage because the magic system is far better than anything else I've come across for an endearingly bad RPG game.
It's a little complicated to work out but you build spells using cards that all have different effects when combined together, you can get some pretty crazy stuff like tornados made of anvils, or you can launch the dead bodies of your enemies at their friends. Or tornados made of dead bodies.

The only issue is it requires you to be somewhat creative and have a good memory do you can remember what combinations of cards do what.

That is the best part of the game, and it was deliberately so bad its good for the second game.

Hey Forrest, can you give a noob some tips? I've been trying to get into it but I have no idea what I'm doing.
Kaumolais or whatever they're called is a good starting culture. Owl Tribe as well. Start with the Unfortunate Hunting Trip scenario. It gives you a bow most of the time. Take your father's stuff, clothes, weapons, tools, everything. Attempt to kill whatever killed your dad, but don't sweat it if you can't bag it. Just don't let it kill you. It's probably gonna be a wolf, maybe a bear or lynx. If it's a lynx, try extra hard, that fur is super valuable.

Find an okay place to camp, build a shelter, start making rock knives. They sell for a lot. Find a village, trade for dried and smoked meat, or salted if it's all they have. With your newfound reserve of preserved food, look around for large animals. Spend days at a time wandering and looking for elk, reindeer, whatever you can find. Don't waste too much time on squirrels or birds, but if one does cross your path, trying to kill it is fine.

Find an elk or reindeer eventually, and chase that thing down. When you run into it on the map tile, go into sneak mode, try to shoot it at least once. Then, pursue it for as long as it takes. Use the tracking skill, keep on after it, shoot whenever it gets within range. Never deactivate sneak mode. Once you kill it, skin it, set up a shelter, make cords out of your dad's clothes, butcher the body, and use the cords to dry the meat of the animal on the shelter. Now you'll have a lot of food in 25 days.

Live off selling rock knives for roasted meat until your full dried reindeer is ready. That's as far as I've gotten, basically.

Forrest, you forgot one thing.
Butcher your dads body and eat him. it sounds horrible, but a person is a LOT of food at the start.

Eh, I forget what, but there's something bad that happens if you eat people. Spirits look down on you or whatever. Not sure what it entails.

However, you can butcher him and sell the meat, as opposed to eating it. It can also be paid to a hunter to employ him to follow you.

What year is it? I've been playing Metal Gear Solid V non-stop. I even stream a little bit a few months ago. I mean I start playing it, everything around me seems like a blur, I haven't even done that many main missions. Its just the dicking around at outposts, coming home to motherbase and chilling with my Diamond Dogs, living it up with Pequod miles up in the air.

I even forgot my own being, who am I, why do I play, what even is this forum? Do I exist just to be tormented?

Either way, if the ending turns out to suck, at least it was a fun ride. I've seriously not had this much fun with a game since Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas, and when I bought GTA V for the first time.

Also I've been playing Mad Max with my Dad off and on. We've started quoting Chumbucket at random, we love that little bastard so much.

Also watching Pequod gun down thousands of African Soldiers to Toto's Africa, is really something to behold. I mean you have screaming, explosions, and me punching out people while, "I BLESSS THE RAAAIIINNNSSS IN AFFFRICAAAA!" Is blaring above me is just magical.

Aya, the public servers are always fairly generic or cards against humanity. If we can get a few people, we could play ZOMBIES!!! I uploaded that game and a couple of its expansions as a single pack to the workshop. If you've never played it, it's a decent board game.

While I'm letting my voice and cough go away (since it seems to get worse the more I talk), I've downloaded the first FEAR and Postal 2: Paradise Lost.

I played FEAR before on my PS3 when I rented it last year, and I ended up hating it due to how dated the graphics and controls felt. I got a little bit into the game before I just lost interest. But since I'm apart of the PC master-race now I'm giving it another go just because the gunplay and bullet time effects look badass as all hell.

And because I'm a fan of Postal 2 and since the DLC is on sale, I decided to pick that up for some more stupid sandbox fun.

Yeah it was weird, because all I heard about with FEAR when it first came out was "LOLOMGGUIS ALMA IS SOOO SCURY! THIS GAME IS SOUPERSCURY GAIES!". Like nearly every video I watched never commented on the gunplay, the bullet time, or anything like that. It was always about that little shit Alma. I'll be honest, outside of two segments so far (1. Where she crawls at you in those tunnels, and the other where you go down the ladder and fucking Fettel appears as soon as you get to the bottom) I'm not all that scared. They say they were inspired by Japanese Horror, but watching a little girl slowly walk towards me down a hallway is scary only for so long.

Besides I got a shotgun, this little shit can get rekt by my shotgun.

Seriously this Shotgun is literally the best shotgun I've ever played with. You shoot someone and it tears off limbs, they go flying, you can take out multiple people at the same time. I've never used a shotgun that's actually felt this much like a shotgun before. That and that one gun that shoots nails at people is also equally badass.

And as for Postal 2 Paradise Lost, I got to Thursday today. I started playing it at 9ish and stopped around midnight. There's so much stupid shit you can do that it keeps me busy for hours. I'll just be walking along and enter a building, and it turns out this building as an underground Saloon/Strip Club, which also houses the police station. So of course I pull out my revolver and kill everyone (including the pianist), break into their armory, and then kill every living person in the jail just because I can. Then there was the time that I shot up the shanty town because I thought $300 dollars for a AC unit was stupid, so I whipped out my lever-action and held out in a small container house until no one was left; I looted some body armor, several health pipes, enough donuts to feed a police station, a Gary Coleman biography, the AC unit, and a shit-ton of Doggie Treats.

All and all, best $6 I spent on videogames this year. Also the lever action shotgun in Postal 2 is beyond badass.

Playin' the Mad Max game a lot these days.

I really like it. It's not perfect, the ground combat is essentially a less flashy Batman: Arkham fighting style with more suplexes and arm breakage, and they don't really make the enemies noticeably tougher, they just send more of them, but I looove the car combat. Side-ramming, slicing with barbed wire on your tires, flamethrowers, big pieces of rebar with explosives attached to the front, it's just crazy over-the-top and fun. Destroying convoys is one of my favorite things ever.

Unless there are metal grinders in the convoy. FUCK THOSE GUYS.

FEAR was SO fun to play the gunplay, and had ~4 moments where I got so spooked I had to take a break. (That bit in the tunnels, the ghost telling you that you don't know your name, the first few corridors in the office building, and that bit with the fucking ladder.) The Pistols are punchy and satisfying, the shotgun is a godlike implement of death, and the penetrator was fucking awesome.

I played Legends of Dawn Reborn briefly as I got a free copy for owning the original and had to see if it had improved at all. A word of advice if you were thinking about getting it: Just don't. If you pirated the game, you would still be paying too much. The "reborn" bit is just a ploy to delete the old negative reviews (almost 90% of them were negative, and there were a little under 1500 or so of them) and to get people to buy the game before the negative reviews clog its store page again. It is almost exactly the same game as the original they released two or so years ago with more bugs and tedium.

Do not buy Legends of Dawn Reborn. Do not support Dreamatrix. Anything would be a better use of your time and money.

I realized that I picked the wrong guy to be sheriff:

He also got absolutely brutalized in the siege... my first ever siege. I sent a bunch of peasants to their doom, only he survived because the Hammerlords ran in and stopped the bowman goblin from finishing him off.

I got a baby killed, because the macegoblin bashed its head into tomato sauce... the mother bled out with that being the last image she saw.

Dwarf Fortress. Again. I noticed after retiring a fort that legends mode says that the dwarves of my fort "regained their senses after an initial period of questionable judgement."
I love the idea that the player is seen as an unseen senseless force by the legends mode, some kind of incompetent boob playing puppets with the lives of the dorfs.

It makes you wonder if what it says changes depending on how 'well' you played the fort, like retiring it once it gains enough wealth or becomes legendary to the dwarves.

Also I thought it was confirmed that we play as Armok, controlling people and adventurers at random for our amusement. I mean half the people I go up against in adventure mode makes my PC cry in fear.

I don't know about the Armok thing, but your theory about it changing depending on how well you ran the fort might be something. I recall this fort had an undead siege that wiped out all living things bringing my fort down to 3 dwarves (a fishery worker, a child, and a metal worker) from its once lofty 76 and then a second wave of undead which was crushed via the power of a giant ostrich cock, his sidekick honeybadger, and his retinue of terrified one humped camels.

I have since reclaimed the fort (I only retired it to look into legends mode) so that I might begin "The Ostrich Project." I have no idea what the project entails, all I know is that I have several ostriches stuffed into a single cage, and I need to do something productive with them. I believe the idea was to fully domesticate them, but I'm not sure.

On a related note, I'd like it to be known that I fucking love this game sometimes.

I could do that, maybe record when I'm working on a mega project, or doing adventure mode. Or hell maybe even do a community thing. But right now I want to focus on Stasiswhips, I've really started work on it, making it pretty, getting the industries up (Metal industry is the most powerful at the moment), and currently I'm building towers and defense bases on the surface for my dwarves to take out threats or kill Elven caravans.

Fucking Minecraft PE because I've just moved house (again) and don't have my computer. Also don't have WiFi so I'm having to use my somewhat limited mobile data so I won't be around much for a while.

Binding of isaac rebirth. If you dont have it, get it. Ignore the bitching about nerfs. Azazel needed to be nerfed and bitches be bitching because their easy mode was taken away.

You know, now that the shinyness has worn off, I have to say that Fallout 4, while a good game, has several glaring issues and fails to hold my attention. Its good, but I doubt I will play much of it until mods are a thing.

Paint The Town Red, listen the game only has three levels but damn everything about the game feels so right. The combat, the way things move when you attack, it's so fucking satisfying to hit someone with a ham leg and watch the skin from their face crumble away to reveal nothing but a skull. I've been taking off people's arms and heads off with weights, I've ran around with a shotgun blasting people's head's in two.

There's one level with a Katana and when you jump attack with it you can split someone in two right down the middle.

It's like if someone mixed Hotline Miami with that art game 30 Flights of Loving or Citizen Abel/Gravity Bone. It's so fucking awesome when you manage to brutally murder everyone in the bar without any powers and walking away unscathed.

I'm so glad I bought it, and the fact that procedurally generated levels and RPG type stuff is coming for a "survival" mode of sorts (Think of a roguelike where you run from room to room killing everyone and upgrading yourself) and when I went through the news feed it seems like the update it regularly.

Currently they're working on mutators or modifiers for the game, so you can have shotguns scattered throughout the level and all that.

Totally worth the 8 bucks for a action-addict like me.

I got subterrain. It's actually quiet good. Gotta monitor power output from the reactor, make quick scouting/raiding trips into infested portions of the mars city, maintain your oxygen/thermal supply, and occasionally take a huge shit.

Since I got a Steam card for christmas, I got myself the last 3 DLCs for ArmA II, so I've been screwing around with those however I can on a high-end laptop.

Now I can't decide whether I want H1Z1, Rust or 7 Days to Die with the remaining cash left in my Steam wallet (~$15)

Get 7 Days to Die, H1Z1 is basically DayZ 2.0 with microtransaction that and it'll become free once it eventually releases, I would've recommended Rust until I saw the newest "roadmap" for it where they're trying to include a fucking leveling system that can buff your health and what's even worse is that the levels you start with are random so you could spawn with extremely low health and high food production which makes you pretty fucking useless in a game focused on PVP so wait for Rust and see.

However 7 Days to Die is like Minecraft with better monsters, crafting, and physics. I tried to play with friends but we hardly found each other or we got too far spread out. However when I started playing it in single player or on servers by myself (AKA finding people to buddy up with) the game started getting better, there's a lot to do in the game and I'd compare it to Cataclysm (not DDA, just plain Cata) with the types of enemies and locations. It really is a fun game, but performance issues and stuff leave something to be desired. If you got a high end laptop you'll be able to run it just fine on medium settings. But the game's graphics aren't really pretty on any sort of "high, low, medium" level so you won't notice much difference in the models, the textures is what the quality truly effects.

Also can't stand the blatantly lifted rust style resource system that the fun pimps keep trying to convince people is their own original system. Oh tits I must've still been playing an old version then.

Fuck it, just go to GoG and pick up some classics Deus Ex is a pretty good one, the original Fallouts are really good once you get into the CRPG groove, and Blood is a fun one but it's a ass to get running.

OH AND ADDING TO THE LIST OF GAMES THAT THE DEVS ARE FUCKING UP! Darkest Dungeon, holy shit the game was hard before but the new "heart attack" system is fucking bullshit. Seriously, there's no efficient way to relief stress unless you're camping (which doesn't count on smaller missions) or doing well in a battle and in order to do well in a battle your buffs and dice rolls must be in your favor.

But if one of your character's passes 100 stress they could randomly die of a heart attack, doesn't matter how well or how healthy they are, they just get instakilled. Not to mention some of the bosses are really unbalanced.

What gets on my tits even more are the fucking people defending this shit, "Oh well the game is supposed to be hard, you're just whining for no reason" Listen you cuck, I payed for early access to provide input and help shape the game, it's still a game in development, which means feedback is necessary to make it better. I haven't even bothered posting complaints on the Steam forum, because Steam forums are a new breed of cancer with blind fans and dumbasses that make the rest of us look bad.

OH! Also why not add Escape from Tarkov a game that doesn't even have a beta, promised there wouldn't be Pay2Win elements, and yet includes about 6ish special limited editions of the game with the highest one "letting you maybe get into the alpha". I signed up for the alpha of this game, why does the limited edition tell you that they'll maybe get into the game, if they shell out 200+ dollars for the most expensive edition they should be guaranteed to get into the beta. Nevermind they changed it to guaranteed. OH! BUT WAIT! The exclusive expensive editions give you a unraidable safebox, several weapons that you can lose (I think?), and the devs lying so fucking hard it isn't even funny. I hope I get in the alpha, because I really want to experience it first hand, I want this game to be good, please God let it be good.

If there's one good thing coming out of all of this, is that I'm getting more and more inspired to start working on The Highway or some project to get experience. Because shit like this is really pissing me off. I really hope it gets better in 2016.

Hey, just so you know, I would be super happy to help you with a Highway related Game project. Maybe a Fallout 4 mod, as you can actually write a story, unlike Bethesda.
Also, started playing Payday 2, and holy amazeballs where has this game been all my life.
Title: Re: What are you currently playing?
Post by: ajwilli1 on December 31, 2015, 03:33:06 am
Eh I don't really want to make The Highway a mod for Fallout 4, if anything I'd probably write and piece together something standalone to compliment Fallout 4's world which is a well-crafted one.

The Highway right now (from what I'm looking at/wanting) is more like a real-time CRPG, where you can pause the game whenever you want, you control a squad (AKA: the crew of an RV, Truck, ETC) of NPCs that either were in the game or were created by you (like Wasteland 2). And I want the inventory system to be grid-based, kinda like Deus Ex, STALKER, or System Shock 2 because I really like grid based inventory something about seeing a bunch of images neatly arranged (or tossed carelessly in a cluster fuck) feels really satisfying to me.

But the only thing holding me back besides personal laziness and obligations to other projects (like the damn Youtube series I'm wanting to start in a couple of weeks) is my own personal shitty art skills and lack of experience. I could be a codemonkey all I want, but if I have not a single clue about how to program a game or how to write several equations that make up your torso or whatever then ain't nothing going to be happening.

So in order to get some experience I've decided to work on something smaller, remember that RP thing I made The Tide which was supposed to be like a cyberpunk crime game set in a heavily urbanized Hawaii. Well I'm going to turn that into a game, you basically play as an elite agent who gets dropped in a huge sprawling tower complex that splits off into two sizable buildings. It'd be kinda like a Metroidvania game, but saturated in neon lights and maybe have a "time system" in place so that the weather outdoors would gradually change from rain, to sunny day, to weirder shit like pollution storms and electric tsunamis that mess with the lighting indoors. And since I have literally no experience in sprite work, I might do an equally lazy thing and just do what they did in the early 2000s. Make really blocky models and apply textures over them.

I have started playing MWO again, and it has improved quite a bit. Pretty fun, lots of mech variety, you no longer lose money on a bad match, and the Faction Warfare is in. But people are SO BAD at it in general, although that might be because I am still in the low skill tier.

Morrowind.  I love this game. Oblivion is good, skyrim is alright, morrowind is best. Rose tinted glasses though, but I have the sense to lower them enough to know it isn't perfect. Combat sucks, movement is abysmally slow, and the character models are ghastly.

Also more dragons dogma. I tried to record a video of it, but fraps and dragons dogma do not get along, as a result I spent an hour and a half fighting a cyclops in slow motion.

Salem the game. Growing that cotton and making that money. Preparing feasts for my friend because she can't stop eating all my high end food. feasting is how you raise your primary stats.

All of Morrowinds problems can be fixed with mods. I just have trouble with the limited carry weight, as I am carrying a few dozen magic items and a couple hundred scrolls at any given time. Gotta be prepared.

I actually think Pokèmon Black fucking sucked, managed to get through the majority of it using only Emboar since he one hit K.Os absolutely everything. Fire type starters are the only sensible choice.
Title: Re: What are you currently playing?
Post by: Chaosvolt on March 03, 2016, 05:14:41 am
I'm still more used to the older generations. And unlike in 4th gen, picking a not-fire starter is sucking WAY less. Salad snek has so far been the best grass starter I've used in a long while.

Still...bleh. 4th made the fire starter derpy as all hell, and made the first gym the rock one YET AGAIN, so of course Diamond and Pearl would punish you for taking the obvious hint by making good fire type pokemon so bloody rare.

So I pick snivy, only to discover that the first gym is instead designed to fuck over ANY starter, eliminating the biggest reason to pick not-fire. :V

gen 1,2, and 3 are the ones I'm alright with. After that I lost interest because of two factors. The first being that the designs for pokemon started getting absolutely absurd, and the second being that I sort of "grew out of" pokemon. I still emulate pokemon shiny gold on my PSP though. Shiny gold is a rom hack of fire red that sets you in gold version, except with all the pokemon from the first three generations and a bunch of new events.
Title: Re: What are you currently playing?

Yeah. I followed the first three generations, then after that I kinda stopped following the consoles and portables so didn't ever look at 4th and 5th until years later, via emulation.

I really should've snagged Pokemon Vietnamese Crystal.
