Title: The Golems
Post by: Zaweri Runewright on May 13, 2015, 08:06:01 am
Name: The Golems

Designation: Sentient

Homeworld: Mercurius Lapidus

Language: Galactic Standard

Average height of adults: 10' (No males or females)

Skin color: Depends on the stone they were made from.

Breathes: Nothing

Strengths: +Incredibly Strong
                  +Immune to poisons and contaminants

Mixed: ~Stoneskin
            ~Huge

Weaknesses: -Brittle

Distinctions: Huge, strong and brittle golems made of stone. Their animation slab is on their chest.

Average Lifespan: As long as they survive.

Estimated Population: 2 million

Diet: Everything flammable

Communication: Telepathy

Culture: The Golems' culture is all based around metal. They can "speak" to metal, which makes it possible for them to create very unique alloys.

Technology level: 7

General behavior: Extremely friendly (Follow Asimov's laws)

History: The original Golem was created by an ancient race about 100 000 years ago. After a while, the race was wiped out, but the Golem was left alone since it was thought it was a statue. It stood in place for 1000 years, and then animated. After a while, he started building another Golem to have a friend. Soon after, they got the idea to build a civilization, and as such started creating more and more, since all they had was a lot of time. They soon learned how to "speak" to metal, allowing them to alloy any 2 metals with the use of vibrations. Their animation slabs were the result of centuries of studying automatons. Each golem has a internal furnace from which they get the energy to run.

Notable Player-Characters: None (yet)

Intent: They don't really have an intent.

(This is still a Work in Progress, it's for Tesla. I am helping him salvage his work and turn it into something better)

Nevercold Brass
Mass: 10 kg/liter

This metal produces heat due to it's natural reaction to background radiation. The metal naturally responds to background radiation by producing heat. The metal is also more conductive then copper by approximately ten times.

Only the Golems know how to produce it.

Scintillack
Mass: 5 kg/liter
This alloy is infused with an odd form of lichen that permeates light. From research this lichen is similar to the Earth lichen that glows in the dark, though this lichen produces light constantly and is much brighter. The metal becomes infused with this lichen under extreme pressure due to the odd properties of the metal.
Thus far the only material the metal has this type of reaction with is the lichen that's used to produced this type of alloy. The producers of it are currently unaware if there are other materials it will react in this way to, but so far all experiments have failed.
So far this glows brighter then most light producing implements.

Only the Golems know how to produce it.

Prisoner's Honey
Mass: 5 kg/gallon
Prisoner's honey is a mysterious substance produced by The Golems.
It can be very addictive. It’s an opiate which makes people have vivid dreams known as ‘honey dreams’, it is used to trade with other civilizations.

It produces these effects by having nanobots enter the bloodstream and take partial control of the brain and nerves temporarily transporting someone into what feels like real life but within a dream.

It is made with mysterious technology that no other person has the knowledge of apart from the golems.

(just gathering up stuff here for Tesla, editing some stuff, everything is subject to change)

If they can speak to metal, that implies that metal is somehow sentient. 0.0

Maybe, maybe...

Well, the metal doesn't have to be sentient, it's possible to shape metal through the use of vibrations, which is all sound is, although it's incredibly difficult.
Perhaps it's a specific kind of sentient metal though, I had an idea for this going already but this seems interesting.

Also these seem reminiscent of Discworld Golems, I approve massively.

The revisions are pretty nice, Tesla. Have a Hibou Co. Stamp of More Robots!

Your ideas clean up nice Tesla, just needed a bit of control to the creative tornado. One thing though, this tech "only made by them" will end up stolen and reproduced eventually. Plus, can we stop making metals and make more guns n vehicles? I've got a big load of vehicles in the works, will be soon.

How would they reproduce the metal? The golems are the only ones who can talk to it.

New descriptions for the metals.. again this time with help of vulnus

These metals are unobtainable by anyone apart from golems to to their knack for changing metals
