Wayback machine is a godsend, and the only way I can get nostalgic about the forum. Whales said it himself, that forum won't and can't come back. :(
He said he is making his own forum for Cata 2.
I still wonder what happened to a lot of the people back on Whales Dev. I am the only one still around, but I hope word of Cata 2 comes around and I may see them come back.
I have found Yamgrenade from back on the forums on Steam. There is FunctionZero who is really hard to find, as results come up about math. I think he had an art blog or site. It was either this person or GTAGuy that made the injoke of butter toasted genitals. (Yep that joke stretched that far back.)
SteelFist was on the DDA forum for awhile then just dissapeared. GTAGuy got pissed and left. I am literally the only one here that dates back WhalesDev.
Quick edit: Just found 2 users from back on WhalesDev, FunctionZero and Alkheemist on Steam! :D
By the way, sorry for the Nostalgia rant.
By the way if you wanted to know how lax WhalesDev was, one of the administrators (FunctionZero, again) made an Monster Girl Quest topic on the other games board. If you don't know what that is it's a porn game. :|

I don't see the problem here.
Wasn't there a quote from Inadequate that would work here? I don't remember the exact words, but it was basically "people use realism as a means of justifying features they want added, but immediately throw that concept out the window when it is used to add features they don't like/change pre-existing features."
I am paraphrasing a lot, and that probably- no, it definitely isn't even close to the exact wording, but it makes the same point.
