Title: <Bladelands Online - An RPG in a Virtual World> (OOC/IC!)
Post by: Siege-Loli on June 23, 2015, 12:27:17 am
(You can thank Jakers for the opener. RIP Jakers the Brit)

In the year 2054, a popular new game is scheduled to release using the new high tech gaming system called the CNSS, the Central Nervous System Simulator. Using this high tech piece of software it places your body into a sleeping state while the CNSS interrupts all motor functions and transfers the data into movement to the game. Using the CNSS, the highest budget MMORPG and game in general Bladelands Online was created, with thousands hours of gameplay and almost infinite skills to master and hone, with almost infinite replayability. Rated perfect scores by almost all game reviewers ever known, Bladelands Online became the most popular game ever created and earnt the highest budget for any video game creation ever, scoring almost a hundred billion pounds worth in money to date and still rising on just pre-orders alone.

You were lucky enough to score a pre-order copy and today is the exciting day that the game goes live. Ready to take the plunge?

<=========}--O |---- BladeLands Online ----| O---{=========>

Aim of BladeLands
In Bladelands, there are a total of eighty 'floors', which each contain different towns, monsters and areas. To progress through to another floor, the boss of that floor must be defeated, be it using teamwork or solo play. Once the boss is defeated, all players are free to quest on to the next floors, and on the final floor, floor 80, is where the final boss is sat where you will need to beat him in order to win the game. Once the game is won, you will be able to escape the realms of BladeLands once more. However, it isn't crucial to rush the floors and basic survival will take hand. There is a hunger and thirst based system, as well as energy levels needing to be restored, so try to have a little time to relax rather than focusing all your might into becoming stronger.

Character Creation
Welcome to the BladeLands Character Creation Format. We Would Like You To Answer Some Questions About Your Real Life Selves...
What is your name?
What gender are you? [Male] [Female]
How old are you? [Must be above or equal to fourteen.]
What did you do in your real life? [Such as jobs, if you had one.]
What do you look like? [Please insert key details. No mutations.]
What appeals to you most in B.L.O.? [A feature of the game you like.]
What do you think you'll focus on?

Game Mechanics
In BladeLands Online, there are two things that you should pay attention to and they will serve as vital tools for you within the game of BladeLands. These two things are:

Your HUD.

This is crucial to pay attention to, and it will be displayed at all times to show crucial stats about you. Here is an example of an average level one player.
Kirito Averdeen ||||||||::{80/100} |||||:::::{50/100} Level 01{55/100} Hunger{Full} Thirst{Full} Sleep{Full} Wielding{Iron Longsword} Floor 01 - Town of Beginnings

The green bar indicates your health, which when it drops to zero you will die automatically. Your stamina is lost when you perform special abilities, and as there is no 'magic' on BladeLands you instead use a variety of special abilities which cost stamina. Call it the mana of this MMO. Your level will be determined when your XP meter is full, and the higher the level you're trying to achieve, the more XP you will need to fill up. Hunger, thirst and sleep can kill you on this game if not managed, and when your are very hungry/very thirsty your stamina may not naturally regenerate.

Your Menu
Using the menu is quite simple, but you can't use it mid-combat unless you want to get out an item such as a healing potion, or you want to change your weapon. Whilst outside an obvious combat situation here is an example of an average player's menu screen:

Character Interface Completed...

Please remain seated, and ensure your Central Nervous System Gear is firmly affixed to your body and head...

Starting up... please enjoy BladeLands Online!
Swirling colours surround you for a second, and the screeching of various static noises in your goggles send you signals to your brain to make you tired and eventually fall asleep. This must be how it works; and this must be the coma it will send you in to play BladeLands Online. You could barely contain your excitement, as it was time for a new experience altogether. You had been waiting for this. And now it was time as more swirling squares of blue, yellow, red and other various glitchy-looking things and noises whirling everywhere; complete madness which just made you close your eyes and wince. Before you know it, in a few seconds you pass out, ready to go into the worlds of BladeLands.

You all feel yourself pulse a little inside your bodies, and you appear to be laying on some form of hard, stone floor. Did it work? You look down at your hands... and... yes! It worked! It was weird to see your own hands, your own bodies and move your legs as you all knew perfectly well you were in a game... yet it felt so real! Looking around you, everything was there! You had heard in your inventory items are just... you know... kept in your menu, and you could make them appear when you selected them. Not questioning much, you look around you and gasp.

So this was the Town of Beginnings, where everyone started. You are all in some sort of large, circular area with all the other new players chatting, talking and some were even forming parties already, probably performing meet ups with people they knew in real life. You have a quick check on your map, but you only get a small portion of the aerial view of the Town of Beginnings, not a lot to start with, and you'd think there was some sort of key to help you find shops and such, but oh well. Not having much ideas of the game, and completely fresh to the game, it looks like you would all have to start and get powerful in the game. Sure you could log out and such, but something inside you just made you want to become the most powerful, be the most known in the game and help beat the 80th floor, finishing BladeLands with others... although it wouldn't be easy. Looking at your HUD's, you could see health, stamina and XP, as well as your hunger and thirst. All of which were full apart from the XP bar of course. Level 1. Great. Starting off leveling was always the most tedious, but you had to start somewhere, right? All of you were wielding the weapons the game has chosen for you to start with and you notice they feel almost weightless in your hands. You try giving them a few swings, but apparently this was not a PvP zone, which was understandable then again, which wouldn't allow you to attack. Huh.

Pretty neat. But now it was time to get started. Leveling and such, buying supplies, figuring out where stuff was, and maybe even getting onto the next floors would be a nice possibility.

Welcome to the lands of BladeLands Online!

[Peri-Kun gains: Basic set of clothing, two iron shields, and 100 Col!]
[Dusty-Chan gains: One Iron Longsword, One Iron Shield, A basic set of clothing, and 100 Col!]
[Vulnus gains: One Iron Spear, A basic set of clothing, and 100 Col!]

"HOT DAMN, THIS IS AWESOME"
Beau windmills his arms around, and otherwise tests the responsiveness of the controls.
After this is done, he walks around, looking for some NPC to give a quest, there usually is one right near the start point.

Johnathan looked around, taking in as much information as he could before starting to look for a quest giver.  "Let's get started I guess."

All three of you hear a ding as a screen pops up, showing you your equipment not even 5 seconds after your plunge in. On it, is explains the equipment menu!
Spoiler: Equipment Menu (hover to show)

After reading the pop-up, you remember you can use your map to see if there are any quest givers and sure enough there is. All of you make your way to one of the very few NPCs standing around and have to push past a crowd of players to even hear the quest.

Quest: Getting Acquainted.
Quest Rewards: 1000 Col

Quest Giver: It looks like the teleportation worked, which is lucky since you could have been cut in half... Anyways my name is Lulu and here to get you acquainted to all these new menus you have. If you wish to skip this quest, you can choose to skip this and still get the award however if you're new you may get lost. So what do you want to do?

Ways to go, according to signs:
[PVP and PVE is always enabled]
North - Market District
West - Arena District
East - Housing District
South - Way to the Plain of Beginnings

(Whoops, sorry. Forgot to post yesterday.)

Kokoro spawned into the game world and came to her senses, slowly taking in her surroundings and examining herself. A sword hung at her waist, and she wore plain, simple clothes. After checking herself, she strode forward, through the crowds of new players towards the quest giver, keeping her hand resting on the hilt of her blade. "I'll take the quest, what needs done?" she asks, glancing at the other players.

"Well, erm, LuLu, lets do this quest here.'
Beau looks around at the massed players, appreciating the programming that went into the NPC being able to comprehend and speak to all of them at once.

"Okay, getting familiar with how things work would be a good idea, I'll take the quest." Johnathan said, looking around.

The three of you each see a screen pop up, detailing what needs to be done for the quest to be done.

1. Buy an item from a store.
2. Defeat any enemy in the Plains of Beginnings.
3. Equip an item dropped from an enemy.

Seemed like it would be easy though you'll have no hints on how to complete these objectives.

There are several stores around this area that line the side of the cobble stone road. Jon easily finds a cooking store with several items decorating the walls and sitting neatly on shelves. There are price tags on each item.

There's a basic cooking pot worth 100 col sitting on a hook to the wall.

Jon finds this same store and stands next to Beau in the doorway!
