Title: Dust: IC
Post by: Siege-Loli on March 03, 2015, 05:27:17 pm
It was unusually hot this morning as everyone rose from their floor-mats in the communal sleeping area. The fire had long gone out in the fire pit at the center of the room. Today was the day each of you decided you would come together and set out from the choking darkness that has been like a womb to you and seek adventure. After everyone said their good-byes for what may be the last time and gathered their things, you meet at the main gate way. The burning Sun gleams through the cracks, inviting you out as each of you leave the confines and make your way to the top of the stairs.
Soon, you find yourselves stand on an ancient street, heavily covered in dust. All around you stand anicent buildings of the Forebearers, which are sacred sites. Even now, the rotting husks of their tallest sites reach high into the sky and look to even touch the Sun. Where shall you go first brave adventurers?

The only true way to realize things was to learn about them, and that was what Abel thought needed to happen. They needed to find something readable...if such things existed here. He looked around for any obvious signs pointing to a structure of learning or teaching.
"I feel as though we should find a place of knowledge so as to become more knowledgeable ourselves.

"Whatever you think is best, I like books. You know the one we found once? With the bears that broke a lamp? Good times."

"I'd like to find something to, you know, contribute to keeping us alive, but I'm fine with whatever." Koe states, gesturing for the others to follow as he too investigated the ruined structures.

The group decides to take a look around some of the ruins around the enterance of their hometown. Sadly these places were the most picked over and decades of wear has made anything that would be of value worthless. After checking the few surrounding buildings, Abel decides to expand the search further out and the other two follow behind him. After a few blocks west Abel spots a well-known shrine that belongs to your people dedicated to The Immortal One who founded Thol-Meden or Deep Tribe in common tongue. North of that is the territory of the rival tunnel civilization that you're at war with called the Rtsh Deb [Death-Eaters]. The conflict arisen over the treatment of corpses.
You could venture that way and attempt to attack some Rtsh Deb warriors to gain honor, fame, and loots.

Koe sniffs the air, grimacing. "I smell some corpse-eating pigs. I dunno about you lot, but I'm in the mood for cracking some skulls." He says quietly, spinning his tonfa by the side handle.

Abel shook his head a bit as he watched his two companions ready for battle.
"Don't you think maybe we should try to avoid situations that could end in our deaths? Besides...who knows what's here with us and making a bunch of noise would certainly draw unwanted attention."

[Don't worry, this will just be a tutorial fight.]
With 2/3 votes, the group decides that wandering into enemy territory for honor would be a great way to start your travels. You make your way to the shrine first, however, to pay your respects since it was on the way there. For travellers on the move, the quickest way to pay repsects to The Immortal One is to knock thrice on the door. Each of you do so then head towards where the latest battle took place.
Bodies can still be seen, half buried in the sand. Dried blood spattered about on the ruined brick walls and sand breaks the normal color scheme and is easy to spot. Koe remembers hearing that the battle consisted of a Line of Rtsh Deb Gunners engaging a squad of Swordsmen. The battle was inconclusive with 8 Gunners killed and 6 Swordsmen went to meet the Immortal One.
As Koe reveals this information to his two friends, 5 Rtsh-Deb from down the street spot you and charge forward!
Abel let's an arrow fly right into one of the Rtsh-Deb warrior, sticking right into his right shoulder. He yells out in his native language several curses as he charges forward, anger renewed. The injured Rtsh-deb stabs at Malcom ineffectively against his towering sheilds giving him a chance to strike back next round of attackes. Koe and another warrior face off with Koe bashing his enemy in the arm and in return he is slashed in the upper left arm and begins to gush his life essense. The other Rtsh-Deb warriors position themselves for combat.

Abel glances to his left, noticing the flanking Rtsh-Deb and letting fly an arrow towards the scum.

The battle rages as the two sides collide with the sounds of metal striking metal and a blood curdling scream. Koe and his enemy face off one last round before Koe gets a lucky strike, his tonfa striking true. It collides with his enemy's face and he falls prone with teeth going airborne. Koe straddles the fallen one bashes his face in until skull meets air and air meets brain flesh. Malcom holds true like a wall of steel as their melee weapons attempt to pierce his shields but fail. He then swings out with one shield and knocks one of them back an O. Abel lets another arrow fly and this one pierces the combatants leg. He screams for your blood as he comes in with a sword and slash down, cutting off half of your pink on your left hand!

Hold shield sideways. Swing edge first into mouth of nearest foe.

Fake out the next opponent, before catching their neck in the tonfa and hopefully being able to break it.

As the battle rages on, one team member has already lost half a pinky. This trial by fire is their chance to prove themselves to their peers that they're ready for the real battles of the dunes!
The Shieldwall Malcom swings wide with his shield, hoping to smack anyone who gets near his near unbreakable shell. He times this perfectly and is able to save Abel who was wounded in the last round and fighting for his life. Malcom knocks back two, sending them flying onto their asses and sprawled on the ground. With one Rtsh-Deb dead and another fled, Koe takes this oppurtunity to sneak up on one of the Rtsh-Deb and crushes the back of his skull, leading him to his second kill. All enemy other combatants lost their movement due to being sent flying back so let's so it's onto the next round of engagement.

Abel would check to make sure his wound isn't bleeding too profusely, if it is he's going to try to make it stop bleeding. If not then he'll take another potshot at one of the stunned Rtsh.

Koe will charge into the nearest scumbag, aiming to tackle him to the floor and crack his skull upon the ancient pavement.

With the forces of Rtsh-Deb badly beaten, it was a simple clean up job for the heros. Koe charges into the side of the still dazed warrior and bashes his skull in with his tonfa then proceeds to hit a few times for good measure. Abel on the other hand fires one last arrow into the survivor, piercing his heart. Blood drips onto the pavement from his mouth before finally laying down and drawing his last breath. Abel takes this time to wrap up what pinky he has left.

"Not specifically...I could use a painkiller." Abel grumbles as he holds onto what's remaining of his pinky.
