Ertra. A world created by the long-gone creator. A world sprawling of life. Of endless bounty.
Yet devoid of purpose. Devoid of something beyond life. A world in need of gods. The people of this world is starting to create faith. Enough to create...
Divinity
(http://i1159.photobucket.com/albums/p634/HS1342/Other/Ertra3_zpsxo0stnac.png)
The people are in need of gods. Of saints. Of hope and purpose.
Rise from nothingness, and bring it to them. Make them belive. Belive in you.
Legend:
-Green: Teachings of Duncan
-Orange: Followers of the Huntress
-Yellow: Warriors of Left-Eye
-Blue: Cult of the Watcher
-Grey: Worshippers of the King of Stone
-Red: Followers of the Rat
-Purple: Cult of Isulae
Setting:
This is the planet of Ertra, a planet with tons of races. Among them are humans, elves, dwarves, orcs, and so on. The life on this world has developed themselves into something the likes of medieval technology. But no real magic. Not yet...
So far, the people of this world have gone by religiously with small and insignificant beliefs. Nothing big, nothing set in stone.
Souls of the dead have been roaming free since the day the world begun, without a place to go. That, and with the faith that the people have been creating lately, new gods are beginning to form.
Rules and mechanics:
-This RP is turn-based. Meaning that I only update once a day. And only through monday to friday. No updates weekends, cause I need some free time.
-As a god, you need faith to not only remain in existance, but to be strong. To put things simple: Faith=Currency of gods. You need a set amount of faith to carry out major miracles. A list of faith prices will be made.
-Interacting and directing mortals costs a small amount of faith. But if the target is in a holy place (holy for you), like a temple or simply some holy place you've created, you can interact with them without any cost.
-You can speak and interact with other gods without updates. But to take actions with or against other gods, you'll need to issue an order.
-Faith is generated by having devout followers. But how much depends on how many, and how much order you have placed on them.
-Order and chaos have their perks, but also their disadvantages. Order guarantees more loyal followers, but also decrease the faith they generate due to the lack of freedom. Chaos makes your followers less resistant to other faiths, but grant you more faith.
-To set more Order or chaos, set rules for the mortals. Strict rules makes them orderly, anarchic rules (which isn't that logical, but anyway) make them more chaotic. Order and chaos is set by a 10 point slider of sorts. 1 is chaos, 10 is order.
-You can have one prophet per holy site.
-Please mark the actions you want me to carry out with bold text. Otherwise, I might not do them as you want.
-This thread will handle everything. Off character, in character, new forms, all will be here. To centralize things.
Notable Races:
-Humans.
You know what a human is right? They mainly inhabit the northern continent, living in feudal towns with castles.
-Elves.
Like humans, but with long pointy ears. They inhabit the jungles and forests in the southern continent. They live in tree-villages, high above the ground. Their society is based around the leadership of groups of elders.
-Dwarves.
Shorter humanoids. Usually with longer, thicker beards. They live in the far north, in the mountains. Their society is based around kings, and they have developed a fair amount of impressive technology, like steam engines, and gunpowder. Humans are looking to gain the techs though...
-Orcs.
Green-skinned humanoids. Warlike, living all around the world in small tribes, but most densely in the southern continent's deserts. Their society is based around warlords.
-Kitsunes.
Humanoid fox-like people, living in ground-based villages in the southern continent. Usually peacefully along elves. Their society is based around the leadership of village elders.
((More races may come up further along the game))
Miracle-list:
Miracles are your main way of making things happen. But to carry them out requires faith. You get faith from followers.
Generic Miracles:
To ensure that you won't be limited to options in this list, you'll follow a simple system. Whatever you may do that isn't specified below will follow these costs. Which price depends on what the miracle is.
-Minor Generic Miracle: 1000 Faith
-Average Generic Miracle: 5000 Faith
-Major Generic Miracle: 10000 Faith
Specific Miracles:
Specified miracles have set costs, meaning that will not change, no matter what.
-Create servant-race: 3000 Faith
A servant race is a special species created by you, only to ever serve you. Think angels, or demons.
-Create Holy Site: Free/1600/3200/5000 Faith
A holy site is a place where you've decided to enchant with your divine presence. You have increased control at a holy site, and can speak to anyone receptible without cost. NOTE: The first holy site is free, and is placed where you first contact a race.
The price goes up with every holy site.
-Speak to Mortal: 100 Faith
To speak with a mortal outside a holy site, you have to spend faith. Some characters might be resistant to you (as some may be devout in another god, or simply too unbeliving), so be aware.
-Create a champion: 8000 Faith
A champion of your faith is a powerful tool. You can order him/her/them around without any cost, and they posses powers beyond any mortal. You can further upgrade them with faith when they reach enlightenment.

Turn 1
((I added some notes to the rules and mechanics, and I advise you to read them. And apologies if somethings amiss with the post. It's a lot of text.))
Duncan:
From nothingness, you have become ethereal.
Created by the human argicultural spirit, and the common will to procreate.
You see the lands of Andale, the human occupied lands in the south-eastern part of the northern continent. You see it's wide, green fields, and the many farms and orchards keeping the kingdom fed.
You have become, but you are not known to the people. You need to pick a mortal to spread your will, a prophet.

The Huntress:
From nothingness, you have become ethereal.
Created by the human will to survive.
You see the lands of Hafngard, the human occupied lands in the north-eastern part of the northern continent. You see it's wide, white tundras, and snow covered forests. Small and simple pillars of smoke eminate from the forest, and in the middle of it all, lies the capital. Orcs are present in the mountains around, preying on lost travelers.
You have become, but you are not known to the people. You need to pick a mortal to spread your will, a prophet.

From nothingness, you have become ethereal.
Created by the dwarven mysteries of ages past, in a time long forgotten.
You see the lands of Brazen, in the far north of the northern continent, lands covered in mountains and snow. Littered by old dwarven ruins, and living cities. The cities rarely contact eachother, but are all in their own right advanced.

The lands of Andale, lush and wonderful. It is here I was born and it is here the journey begins.
Duncan will fly down to a farmer on the plains and greet them accordingly.
"Hello Man of Andale, you who works my fields and bring sustenance and joy to others through your labor. Will you help me bring happiness to others across the world?"
-
In an elven hospital, a man, ill from a terminal desiese, stands up, and no signs of the illness are to be seen. Only a scar, reading Glory to the Rat, the Great God. . Soon after this the person starts getting visions of a giant rat. At last, he just goes to people around him and tell them the story of The Rat.
-
Insulae looks around for an outsider, a hermit to be his prophet. He then creates a spirit, it beckons others to commit cannibalism, until they either A. Commit cannibalism or B. Go insane. They're called Furors, they cause someone to commit cannibalism, the furor will lead them to where the prophet is.
-
A voice reaches up from the cold, hard earth to a simple miner, deep in the bowels of the earth. It speaks quietly, but cuts through the echo of picks and hammers against the stone walls with ease. Uchadar speaks to the miner, "Long, you have toiled here, searching for riches. I have kept them hidden. Soon, they shall be revealed to you, but first you must complete my task. Tell the others of the King of Stone, tell them that I shall lead them to prosperity. Do this, and it shall be so."
-
Deep within the jungles of Eniz, a recluse of an elf lived at the edge of his treetop village, within a small shack built into the trunk of an ancient tree. This elf's name is not important. Nothing about him is important, save that he's a rather curious elf. Lean and limber, yet intelligent, he delves into the jungle for the good of his village, mapping out the deepest reaches and searching for whatever secrets the ancient canopy may yet cover. It's dangerous work, and little appreciated by his people, but this elf doesn't care. Unearthing what's hidden is what he loves, and it's what makes him special.
On one deep foray into the depths of the forest, however, something seems....off. The shadows are darker, the silence is.....unnatural. There's none of the usual chittering of insects, rustling of primates. Imaginary eyes follow him wherever he steps, and this brave elf, for the first time in a long time, feels truly afraid. That is, until a voice rasps through the night, changing his mood from afraid to downright terrified.
"Dangerous is the work of he who exposes what is hidden." The voice is barely even that, seeming to echo from everywhere at once, from everything and nothing.
"It's....it's the only work I know." Says the elf to the voice, shivering with fright, his bow aimed at the dark.
"Then by my hand, new work shall come to you. No longer shall you lay bare the secrets of old. No longer shall you unearth what doesn't wish to be unearthed. The secrets of the world shall stay secret, and it is you who will keep it so."
The elf has no chance to argue, before the voice rises anew.
"You will collect compatriots of good trust, and bring them to the jungle. You will bring them to me, and I will speak to them as I have spoken to you."
-
Turn 2
((Had to tweak some faith costs, to streamline the system a bit. Good thing I though about it before we got going in earnest))
Duncan:
The choosen farmer is overwhelmed by your appearance, but after you bring fourth your holy mission to him, he agrees to spread your truth.
The famer (William Rowing) has become your first prophet. The site where you spoke to him, right in the middle of his field, is now a holy site.
In the future, pilgrims will most likely go to this place.

(oh god how do i even post)
-
The King of Stone rests, biding his time. The mountains did not rise in a day, and neither would he.
-
Left eye appears over an Orcish Warcamp with a crack of thunder, screaming that she would lead them to blood and glory.
-
((I'm sorry. Next time PM me to edit it.))
The Rat waits, and waits, so more people can start believing in him.
-
Insulae will wait for faith to accumulate, until then he'll plot his next move.
-
Duncan will instruct his prophet to head towards his home village (many of which are probably farmers as well) and as William is preaching, will appear before the crowd that would potential be gathering.
There he would lay out his divine law:
"Sow the Earth and treat it well.
Be fruitful in your own homes as you are in your fields.
War is a curse against all life and should only be placed upon those who give it freely."
-
Thule waits a turn for his sect to grow a bit.
-
Quick question, will you be updating the map as our influence spreads?
-
Might aswell do that a bit in Lorknis. Little early now.
Oh, and just a reminder; I'll be back to update on monday.
-
Turn 3
((To speed up the process of updating, F now is short for faith, and Fo is short for followers))
Tip: Mortals tend to take your words, and turn them to literal laws. This can be a benefit, or a problem.
Duncan:
[-100 F] Your appearance at the prophet's home village proved to be fruitful, and made more people dedicate their belief to you. [+200 Fo]
And as your will be done, the farmers have taken your words, and formed a tennet:

[-100 F] You appear with tunder above a local orc warcamp. Their reception for such a powerful, yet unannounced precence is left wanting. There's no fear, but rather confusion. The warboss of the tribe seems less amused by a sudden challenger to his authority.
He is swift to ensure said authority, bashing down anyone looking to submit to your will.
Seems like he's not one to accept anyone to simply take his power from him. Orcs tend to need more than words and a little lightning to be impressed. Perhaps they would need some more... persuasive tactics...
Even though the warboss decided to denounce your existance, there's still those who silently put their faith in you. Perhaps even unknowingly [+50 Fo]
One has decided to spread your word in silence, and the central bonfire of the warcamp is now a holy site.

Insulae will appear to the lone shack with his prophet, he suggests that they should turn this area from a lone shack to a small village, giving them the tennets: "Consume who you strike down, have it be raiders or quarry. Consume their flesh." And "Don't strike down un-provoked, or we'll be no better then those Orc war bands." Then he'll make a mystical weapon for his followers, a jagged blade made from bone and steel, the blade is light and easy to swing while the jagged blade causes stabs to scar and not heal properly.
-
The King of Stone echoes through the walls of the mine as his prophet returns with his new following. He speaks to them in his holy place, "I made you a promise. You have been faithful to me, but my power is still growing. I ask that you remain patient. Do as I say, and prosperity will come."
-
Left eye will rethink her life choices.
Left eye will begin training Gundunk to one day kill the warlord, communing with him as he sits about the fire.
Otherwise, just bide my time for more power.
-
The Rat comes down from the sky, and says to the first elf he meets that he is God and he will grant him many treasures if he helps him gain more popularity.
-
Duncan will walk among his followers and their fellow villagers and enjoy himself among the populace. He will attempt to learn all he can about their culture and their ways.
-
Terribly sorry guys, but no update today. Feel like shit.
But I'll make it up to you tomorrow by updating the map.
-
And the moment I'm supposed to update, the router goes apeshit.
It just want me to look like a scumbag.
Useless to update right now, so I'll post today's update at the usual time.

Turn 4
((There we go, an update, and an updated map!))
Duncan:
You remain among your followers. Well, among the followers around your holy site. Don't want to waste any faith now, do we?.
[EVENT]

Duncan will have his followers at the holy site and tell them what they should do.
"Kindness will be rewarded with kindness, my children. Taxes are necessary to keep your society working for now but I promise that one day, that will all change. For now, I will leave you this gift."
Duncan shall create a tree that bares magical fruit in the shape of an apple but its color varies from blue to orange. The fruit when eaten provides a small bit of healing as well as a sense of wholeness and acts as an aphrodisiac. The tree can give out this harvest multiple times during spring to fall. In winter it has purple flowers instead.

Pretty maxed out on my end, and we've already gone on a bit. But if anyone bails, or simply perish, you'd be able to join.
Also, I'll roll out a big update tomorrow to make up for some lost time. Bonuses for all.
Edit: and with big I mean MASSIVE. Gonna rework the system, and make things a bit more free, and less stale.

Curse you, I had to redo the map now! >:(
But yeah, I have moved this RP to another thread. Expect the worst.
Changes have been made.
Took a lot of work, too...

Oh goddamnit I decided to stop playing entirely because the faith system was a bit eh in my opinion. Oh well, still staying out because it would be easier for you I guess.
-
I could throw you in again. No worries.
Just say it, and it will be so.
I'm glad I wasn't talking out of my ass about the system being shit.
-
...Well that's shocking. Oh well, I liked the old system better but I'll continue to complete my goal of total religious domination.
-
It was indeed drastic Lorknis. Drastic but neccecary.
This system felt more like a strategy game, than it did like a roleplaying game.
So basicly I went "FUCK IT", and removed most restrictions.
I've gone ahead and made a better map, and I even had some religious symbols I've made for each one of you, but since the hosting site have decided to be an utter ass, they'll need a bit more work.
I'll get some sort of library up soon for some details on you and your realms. Not a separate thread, but in the main post.
-
Well the strategy was necessary build up for the RP between the gods and the peasant's they suck of faith-energy. Ah well, I'm sure it'll be enjoyable still.
-
Well, no matter what, I will still do what I can to keep a nice quality on the RP.
And on all RP's I ever do for that matter.
