Title: The Districts: Escape from the camps
Post by: RedVulnus on August 11, 2016, 05:24:45 pm
Progress through work, Work through faith, faith through diligence, Diligence through re-education

The next train pulled into the entrance of the camp and the guards quickly unloaded the occupants. Men, women, and children were ordered out of the train and two men entered to check for any who had disobeyed the order. A handful of shots were heard echoing from the train cars before the two soldiers hopped out of them. One of them held up two fingers and the Keeper wrote in his books.
One of the men from the train car attempted to take a guard's rifle but the guard knocked him to the ground. The captain walked over and looked down at the man for a second before lifting a pistol and firing. With another shout the order was given to the new arrivals to enter the camp proper. This is where you first saw the new arrivals.
More of the same that were constantly shuffled into and out of the camp. You turned back to your work so as not to draw the ire of the guards. You did so until the bell rang and you shuffled back to your rooms to sleep.

As a note this is more focused on the RP rather than on mechanics, so if you can give me a plausible explanation and your character could do it with their skills and history then I'll allow it. If not I'll roll for it.

Name: Gil Mattack
Age: 31

Name: Cillin Carver
Age: 27
Skills: Speaking, Melee, Marksmanship, Stealth.
History: A well-known "person of interest," Carver's been a thorn in the side of any form of organized authority since the day he was born. A true-blue political anarchist, he's been an influential member of various rebel groups over the past few years, thanks to his tireless attitude when it comes to sticking it to the man, and his ability to rile crowds up like no other. Needless to say, since his incarceration, he's been rather bothersome to the prison personnel, and he's earned his fair share of beatings for it.
Record: Six counts of incitement to imminent lawless action, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, three counts of assault, two counts of murder.

The two of you were out in the yard eating your evening meals when you heard one of the guards shout at another "What in the name of the saints are you doing?"
"The Commander wanted the barrels here. You want to go complain to him?"
"I was right fucking next to you and he said the nutrient barrels not the-"
you watched as one of the barrels fell from the pile, hit the ground, and then-
An explosion loud enough to leave your ears ringing. You were vaguely aware of the head of one of the soldiers crash into the wall next to the two of you. The thing you did notice was the large hole in the wall that you could rather easily get through.

Gil looks at large hole and blinks once. Is this really happening? he thought. He got up and sprinted towards the large hole as fast as he could.

Carver's attention on the hole-in-the-wall was rapt. Well, shit. There goes all those other escape plans. Without another thought, he sat up, hard and fast, and sprinted directly behind Gil, zig-zagging a bit in an attempt to throw off any snipers or confident infantrymen who may have been rushing to the scene.

The two of you rush through the hole as you hear a spray of gunfire followed shortly by a guard yelling "Do a headcount, find out if anyone escaped!"
Sounds like you two have some time as you emerge  into a ramshackle area of broken down buildings and decaying hunks of metal. You'll need to head out quickly and you know there are going to be patrols in this area, after all you'd heard the sounds of footsteps and voices come from the outside of the camp.

"Ohshitohshitohshit." he mumbles. He turns to carver, "What do you think we should do?"

"Fuckin' run for it, that's what, man!" Carver quietly shouts, motioning for Gil to follow him as he continues sprinting as quietly as he can away from the hole. "We'll have time for a better plan later, let's just get far away right now!"

Gil sprints with carver, his brain's running at 100 miles per hour, thinking about what they might do to him if they get him.

The two of you run away from the camp into the ruined buildings. The Re-Education district was small as you saw when you were driven out here and it was only a half hour of near full tilt running before you reached a hole in the wall to the next district. Shimmying through the two of you find yourselves in a high security district. From the fact that no sirens are blaring they don't know you've escaped yet so you have some time. You'll stand out in your clothes but you'll need to find food and water to carry with you before finding your way out of this district.

Gil looks around for food, water, and maybe, just maybe, a jug of gasoline. His mind is thinking of what else could be useful, Styrofoam? could use it with gas to make napalm. Bleach and annomia? Mustard gas. He's gonna need vessels for that though... He speaks up in a hushed tone, "Hey, lemme know if you find something that I could use, bleach, gasoline, stuff like that. Hell, even Styrofoam or packing peanuts."

(Well, I mean, what's the district like when you say high-security? Like, a high-security place where people live, or an empty place where the gov't still patrols? I'm kinda confused about the setting.)

"Yeah, yeah. Got it." Carver mutters, as he works more on scoping this place out than scavenging right now.

Gil and Carter

The two of you look around the area and quickly discover your in an unused  building in a housing District. The alarm hasn't been raised so you can spend some time scavenging and planning. Gil found a few plastic jars that he could use.

Alex
You had heard the squad of soldiers heading up the stairs towards your apartment and ducked out the window onto the fire escape. Moving quickly you make it to the ground and start heading down the alley, discarding your now useless ID badge as you go. As you make it around the corner you hear one of them up on the fire escape say "He's gone! Start sweeping the area!"
You'd need to move fast now, but at least they can't track you with the ID Badge.

----------------------------
Okay High Security Districts come in a few varieties. You'll have to look around most districts to tell their purpose, as you might come into a production district in it's worker housing section or other various situations. High security districts will always be around things like Re Education Camps or Factories.
High Security districts means more patrols, security cameras, and security devices that can be switched on if the alarm is raised. As a note though there is a difference between regular patrols and Death Squads.

Alex starts his way down the fire escape. "Finally a chance to escape this hellhole..." He mutters. In the alley way (If allowed to) he finds an old, rusted crowbar so he pick it up. (If not allowed to) He ducks around the corner to find an APC on the main street. "Huh, They must really not want me out here." He said.

Gil looks around a little more, he's mumbling to himself.

Alex
You don't find anything in the alley. You do spot a vehicle designed for transporting large numbers of people to the Re Education camps along with a couple of trucks for the squads used to drag people to the transport.

Gil and Carter
Gil looks around and finds a couple of empty liquor bottles and a mostly full canteen but not much else. Looking around you notice that it looks like the building you're in was damaged and abandoned while it went under reconstruction. You could probably look around for clothes or something to help you better fit in here.

"I need to get past that if I want to escape." He cursed under his breath. Though he did spot a lone guard in some number of alleys down.

You do indeed see a guard in an alley. There are also a couple of patrols moving down the street and a work crew fixing a few damaged areas of the road.

Gil looks around for spare clothes.

(What is the guards equipment?)
Alex weighs his options. He could either tackle the guard and chock him/her out or quickly dive around the corner to a nearby shop of some sorts. Neither option was going to be easy.

Gil and Carter
you two don't find any spare clothes in the immediate area but there are more buildings to explore nearby in similar condition to this one.

Alex
The guard is in standard uniform, consisting of the cloth shirt and pants, boots, a flak vest, gas mask and helmet, as well as a pair of gloves. You see he's carrying a pistol in it's hip holster and a shotgun in his hands. You think you can hear them searching through your apartment above you.

Alex also was thinking of bribing the guard as well but he had to choose quickly before they found him. (What are the chances of bribing the guard?)

Well for one, you've really got nothing of value on you so not very high. You can hear someone shouting from above "Check the alleys!"

Could I possibly hop in real quick? And would this kind of role be acceptable for the setting?

Name: Harris Weaver
Age: 25
Skills: Rifles, Throwing, Climbing
History: A former soldier, Harris did not spend much time outside the brig due to his rebellious nature. There were multiple times where he'd refuse to follow orders on account of "being told to commit crimes against humanity" in his words, and at one point finally snapped and offed his immediate superior. Naturally, the high command was not pleased and gave a dishonorable discharge immediately upon return to base, and was "reassigned" to work in one of the camps. Subconsciously, he rejected every one of the "reeducation" lessons, but worked his hardest and attempted to sign himself to Civil Protection in the slim hope that he could at least see work as a street patroller just to get out of the horrid camp conditions.
Record: 3 counts of insubordination, 1 count of murder, 4 counts of theft, sympathizing with the "anarchists".
