Further Information

Peace Keepers

A branch of cybernetically enhanced super-soldiers that work for the UN, they're usually deployed when a threat becomes to large for an average task force to handle. The only reason you're being deployed for this low-risk assignment is to see if your team operates at the level expected of other teams. So don't mess up out there, alright.

Weapons Issued:

AR-19
Standard issue bullpup assault rifle, three toggle-able firemodes [AUTO/BURST/SEMI], used by most modern corporations and peace keepers. Not hard to use in the slightest. Holds 30 rounds per magazine.

Remington-870_v2
The classic pump-action shotgun re-imagined for the modern man. Comes with an ammo counter on the port of the gun, connects to the user's interface, comes with a customizable crosshair for interface users, and allows for all types of shells to be loaded into it [including plasma shot]. Holds 8 shots.

PS90
A remodification of a P90 SMG, instead of firing bullets, it fires bolts of plasma. It can fire 30 times before the battery needs to be swapped out.

Hard-Light Sword
Seeing as how the world is packed to the brim with humans and nature is almost a thing of the past, CQB weapons have made quite the comeback. From basic clubs and spears to advanced E-Swords and Plasma Axes. Its no wonder that some agents prefer a sword to a gun, as it doesn't need to be reloaded, and doesn't have the possibility to jam. The HL Sword is the size of a machete and was originally meant to be used as such, because the 'foliage' in the urban jungle is usually thick.

M2020
Based off a M1911, this combustion [READ AS: Super-Heated Bullets] based weapon holds seven rounds, burns the air it travels through, and normally kills in one well placed hit. Its literally a flashier version of a M1911.

Augments:

Standard Issue Military Cybernetics
This is your neural interface, it displays in your eyes, tells you how well you're doing, gives you news updates, tells you the condition of your team mates, lists current objectives, and literally improves every part of your body. Making you at least 1% 'kevlar'.

Throat Filter
An air-filter in the throat to prevent toxins of any sort from getting into your lungs, the filter needs to be changed every now and again. Its good to have if you're planning on using a lot of tear gas or you're heading into a quarantined area.

Arm Blade
One of your mechanical arms gets a long retractable blade inserted into it. Really sharp.

Optic-Camo
'Invisibility' essentially. It refracts the light around you to make you appear invisible.

Data Spike
One of your fingers gets a data spike inserted into it, it allows the user to jack into any form of technology. Including other people that have cybernetic-enhancements.

Biometric Scanner
Normally used by field medics to scan the internals and vitals of someone who isn't apart of the neural uplink. Allows you to see and know everyone about a person... physically at least.

African Region Militia

From birth you're selected to be a part of the AM, a genetically modified group of "peacekeepers" that police the African provinces. You've worked with and against the UN plenty of times in the past. Today you've been informed that you'll be working with the UN to recover a lost shipment of weapons that was last seen in the town of Anuket. You'll be meeting up with them outside of the township in a warehouse that's been a UN front for several years now.

Weapons Issued:

Burner-47
A heavily modified AK-47 that shoots superheated ammo that burns the air it travels through. Melts through both metal and people. Holds 30 rounds, and the 'furnace' needs to be refilled after about 90 rounds.

Zapper
Double barreled electric shooter, it shoots normal 12-guage ammo but as it leaves the chamber its infused with electricity. Shocking anything it passes. Including the user on occasion.

Mac-10
Machine pistol, no special modifications other then the fact that they only come silenced now. 25 rounds per mag.

Stunprod
A cattleprod that's been rebuilt to incapacitate suspects, making for far easier arrests.

M2020
Based off a M1911, this combustion [READ AS: Super-Heated Bullets] based weapon holds seven rounds, burns the air it travels through, and normally kills in one well placed hit. Its literally a flashier version of a M1911.

RPG-7
These used to be rare to see in the field until recently, as robots of all varieties have been encounter in the field more than they used to be. And these aren't your friendly greeter bots anymore.

Biomods:

Chimera Genome
A genome that you've been born with, gives you the appearance of whatever animal DNA they had at the time. Allows your DNA to be modified even more then your standard human.

Reinforced Skeleton
Your bone marrow has been replaced with that of a whales, causing your bones to be harder to fracture and allows you to not bleed as much when hit.

Exoskeleton
Parts of your fleshy form fall away to reveal the new layer of chitinous armor that had been growing underneath, God knows what insect it comes from.

Cat Eyes
Your eyes are like that of a cat's, allowing you to see in the dark much easier. But at the cost of you being hypersensitive you bright lights. I recommend packing some good sunglasses.

Talons
Replaces the fingers on one of your hands with razor sharp talons.

Fins
You have fins grown on your thighs and under your arms, makes you aerodynamic underwater, and makes you look a bit like 'The Creature from The Black Lagoon'.

Attributes

Accuracy: It dictates how well you handle firearms and other ranged weapons in the field.
Strength: Dictates how well you can use melee weapons, unarmed, and how well you can carry heavier items.
Intellect: Shows your ability to use computers, common sense, and different sciences.
Witt: Your luck, and ability to asspull [make shit up]. It doubles as charisma.
Skills: Basically perks that you earn, don't put anything here.

If you have any questions on how anything works just ask me. I do have a system in place for rolls, weapons, health, lore, etc... But I figured it might be best not to bore you with that unless you're that curious.

Actually I'll clarify how I'm going to be rolling, I'll be using percentile dice and D20s for this. Alright I await your character sheet.

Oh yeah, and if you want custom Augs or Biomods (depending on which faction you pick) you can. Just explain them and I'll approve, rewrite, or deny them. Don't be afraid, I'm going to be really lenient with this since its been a while since I've written something, and the fact that this is still a forum RPG and that mechanics normally get abandoned in favor of laziness.

[[I'll just drop in anyone who joins in.]]

Peace Keepers

You've been sitting in this safehouse for the past few days with your handlers for this op. The safehouse itself is a converted old warehouse that used to store scrapped bots that have now been pushed to the side or are now hanging from the ceiling on meathooks doubling as a chandelier, since the IT guy figured out how to turn on the lights on the few systems they had.

The dust particles dance around the interior like snow, and the hazy light from the sunlight pouring in through the cracks outside give the place a distinct brown and orange tint over everything.

In the center of this building is the 'command center' a few desks arranged in a U-shape with all sorts of technology and tools carelessly arranged on them. You can see the IT guy fiddling with one of the routers they have set up while talking to the head of this operation. Lieutenant Carter.

"-ulled their file from the databanks, one of them has literally no history on him and essentially a cheetah with wings. The other comes from a long line of AM officials, not really much a big fan of the new "Unified World" that we have nowadays.", Carter says looking a datapad, scrolling downwards on the screen with his finger. He sets it down and leans his back on the table across from where the IT was working.

"Well that's not really reassuring. I don't see why we couldn't just send in these guys on their own and let them figure it out.", flipping up the antenna on the router he checks the lights to still see them blinking like strobes in a nightclub. He curses under his breath and he goes back to tinkering with its innards.

Carter cuts his head around the room and then leans in closer to the IT guy, "Well we actually could," He mutters. "The only reason we even work with the militia at all is because-"

African Militia

"I don't care how fast you can run, you need to rest before we get there, you run all the way there you'll be exhausted, thirsty, and great fodder for any thugs that see yet another mutie sprinting into their turf.", your driver states as he fights to maintain control over the steering wheel. You've been traveling across the plains since 3AM in a 4-seater jeep that doesn't have seatbelts, and can only pick up AM radio. Along with being pelted in the face with mud, sand, dust, and the wind itself it hasn't been much of a smooth trip to get to this damned place.

The scenery is still nice though, bright blue African skies even after all this time haven't been tainted with smog of any sort, and the wilderness is still mostly intact due to recent government action to preserve what little nature still exists in the world. Sadly it didn't start getting enforced all too much until a few months ago, people in the Sahara (now a giant city of cobbled-together metal houses) are getting forcibly removed and relocated offworld to live in the Mars colonies.

"We'll be arriving there in just a moment, we'll be coming up through what used to be called Faqar street ironic seeing that the whole place is just one giant slum. It used to be ruled by some kids that thought they could hustle everyone on the street for money, get a cut from the shopkeepers and such. Lasted for about a year or two until the AM caught wind and quickly shut it down, turns out that they were all bark and no bite. Heh-hahaha!" In the distance you can see the giant city of rust and filth in the distance, you can also smell it from here too. You're supposed to meet up with your UN contacts at an old scrap warehouse, the building has been tagged with bright blue spray paint. The tag itself is a circle with two lines going through the middle.

Your driver begins to slow down as you enter into the shanty proper, a few kids run by kicking a soccer ball down the street, a man is carrying a huge back of scrap parts out of his house and to the merchant down the block, shouting, crying, and chattering drowns out the sound of the engine. "Feel free to hop out anytime you like, I know a bar down a few streets down, its where I'm gonna be until you're done here.", your driver says as he lays down on his horn to clear a path through a crowd of watching pedestrians.

Kagame grunts a thanks and dismounts, grabbing his rifle and pack from the back of the ancient jeep. He does a quick check of his equipment to make sure nothing jostled loose during the drive, and does a quick scan of his surroundings, noting that this busy street is possibly one of the worst places the U.N. could have picked for a base of operations - blocked sight lines, lots of bystanders, and so much noise and movement that a guy could stick a knife in you without you even noticing. The only thing it seems to have going for it is that it lets people see how present and "ready to help" the Peacekeepers are. Typical U.N. thinking.

Not seeing any immediate trouble, he lights a cigarette and stands by the door to the warehouse, facing the street, flicking his eyes cautiously around his surroundings, and waiting for his companion.

It was at moment Duncan walked briskly into the room with his helmet under one of his arms. Upon seeing the Lieutenant, he stops his brisk pace toward the door and gives a brief salute. He would then head out of the building out of the back entrance (a back alleyway that from the outside appeared to be having construction done). Afterwards he would stand near the front of the building, his arms crossed and his back against the wall while he waited for the rest of the agents.

Post by: ApatheticExcuse on August 24, 2016, 04:47:27 pm
The corner of Kagame's eyes catch a fleeting glimpse of movement, and he turns to face the shape coming around the corner of the building, his finger twitching towards the trigger of his rifle. His grip tightens, then relaxes ever so slightly when he catches sight of the blue U.N. markings on the newcomer's helmet. Giving a nod of recognition, he takes a moment to appraise the man standing before him.

Heavy armour, big 'scary' sword, and fancy tech augments, he muses, taking mental notes of potential weakspots in the Peacekeeper's attire and pondering on how easily his Burner might poke holes through them. Looks like cop gear. Lot of good that will do him if anyone shows up armed with a real weapon. Once again, typical U.N., all flash and show. Keeping his thoughts to himself he turns back to the street, flicks his cigarette into a puddle, and resumes waiting, passing the time by thinking up different methods of killing his "ally", just in case.

Jamie walks in and gives a small salute, and heads out of the back entrance. He examines Duncan, heavy vest and helmet, cybernetic arms and legs. If need be could hack those and shut down his motor functions and movement. and he thoroughly looks at Kagame, Genemodded, cat-like eyes. Unable to hack this dude. he muses.

((I'm the one with fancy eyes and regeneration))

Another Peacekeeper comes around the corner. This one is big, standing a good couple inches over Kagame, who isn't exactly a midget himself, and is also a little more sensibly equipped: Reliable shotgun, if a little blingy, gear that you can still move around in, and whatever tech they've put into this one is a bit more subtle. He catches the look the man throws at both himself and the other Peacekeeper, and recognizes it as the same sort of look he gives when he's trying to size up a threat. He makes a mental note that of his two new 'teammates', this one is probably the more dangerous, though likely easier to 'deal with' if need be.

Kagame lights another cigarette, and throws a glance at the jeep. His companion appears to still be rummaging around inside, collecting his gear. How much longer are we gonna be stuck on this bloody deathtrap of a street? This was looking to be a long day.

Kagame was growing more and more uneasy, waiting on the exposed street. While he'd usually wait for his compatriot to do all the talking, he was growing more and more tense with every passing second, and did not enjoy the idea of some unfriendly folks deciding to take advantage of having such excellent targets just milling around in front of what was supposed to be a secure U.N. safehouse. Kagoslov could take care of himself reasonably well, or at least talk himself out of whatever trouble he could possibly get into between their ride and the entrance less than three yards away. Provided he can extricate himself from whatever is holding him up inside the jeep, that is. Legs of a cheetah, and he's still always the last one set to go.

Besides, he muses, If any more of these U.N. boys come around the corner and decides to stand around trying to look tough, I might as well stop looking at this as a "co-operative operation" and start considering it a "poorly planned U.N trap". Time was wasting, and while he was sure the ranking U.N. officer had likely briefed his men on whatever the reason was that they were putting this little force together, no one had bothered to inform the militia as to exactly why they were there.

Stamping out his second cigarette, he turns around and bangs twice on the safehouse's front door, hard.

Time to get this show on the road.

Alex listens to the Lieutenant for a couple more seconds, then gives an half-assed salute and walks out the back.   Noting the other three people in the alley giving each other evil eyes, he speaks up.   "Geez guys, who's funeral is it?  We're a peacekeeping squadron, not the fun police."  Alex turns to the Militia member standing by the door.  "I presume you've been briefed on the situation?'   Oh, name's Alex.  Nice to be working with you."

(I hadn't posted because I was planning on using a computer, but my grandparents took me on holiday so I'm stuck with a phone.   Sorry for not posting I guess.)

((Sorry guys, I'm just excited and pushy))

Yet another U.N. trooper comes around the corner. This one looks like support - scanners and light gear. Kagame makes a mental note that this fellow will likely be the most useful to him.

The Peacekeeper makes some inane joke about the posturing of the other two. This one and Kagoslov might get along nicely.

"I presume you've been briefed on the situation? Oh, name's Alex. Nice to be working with you."

Kagame grunts in reply, and then, as if remembering that Kagoslov isn't there to respond on both their behalf, speaks.

"Kagame. Kagoslov." He motions behind him to the thing moving around in the jeep.

"No, we have not. It looks like we've driven for hours just to have the honor of guarding the front door to your badly located safehouse." he says curtly, gesturing to the door he's just finished pounding on.

"Who is in charge here?"

With the impressions the other UN Peacekeepers were giving their Militia cooperatives, the next one that entered probably dashed their hopes even more than the others. This one, however, didn't come from the safehouse itself, but from the street adjacent to it.

A tall, lithe man, of about thirty years of age despite his silver hair, came strolling on out from the sidewalk with a strutting, self-assured gait. To any civilian or operative who wasn't familiar with neo-Victorian battle-fashion, he appeared to be wearing a luxurious wool coat with a short cloak, for some odd reason, and he didn't appear to be wielding any weapons, at least not any large ones like the others.

And he greeted his comrades not with a salute, but with double finger guns, a large grin plastered on his face.

"Right then, gents! This is the, uh...safehouse, right? Big, scary, secret place? Lotta good the cover's doing it, I mean, come on, an abandoned warehouse? Big, beefy-looking guys with swords and shotguns milling about outside with genetically altered African soldiers? Whatever floats your boat, I guess." His voice had a strange, vaguely European accent to it, probably not even real.

"Eh, anyways. Remington Loach. Special operative. Asked onto the operation to represent some...special interests."

The newcomer walks up, seemingly out of nowhere. Even Kagame's practiced eye hadn't seen him coming. Perhaps it was that, or the Peacekeeper's mannerism, but either way something about him made the militiaman's skin crawl. Kagame takes an immediate disliking to him, though he can't help but admire the well concealed, quality pistol poking out from beneath his absurd jacket. THIS one is not typical U.N. We'll see how jovial he is when the shooting starts.

"You're in charge?" he asks.

Loach responded to the militiaman's query with a dismissive shrug of his shoulders, his grin diminishing to a sort of leering smirk.

"I'm in charge? Dunno. Could be. What sorta mission is this, when the operatives don't even know who to take orders from? All I know is I was supposed to show up here, at this time, and meet some of my fellow lawmakers. Any of you have the slightest idea what this is about?"

Loach punctuated his sentence by falling backwards from his shrug into a rough lean against the wall of the safehouse, his hands resting in his pockets. He didn't know how to feel about any of the others yet, though he could tell he was giving the militia member who'd spoken negative vibes. Eh, he often had that effect.

"One where we were ordered into our transport at 3 a.m., just to come all the way down here and do nothing while your commander eats his breakfast." he growls. "We know nothing more than you do."

His distaste grows as the Peacekeeper leans against the warehouse non-chalantly. Maybe it's because he's so.. clean. No one stays clean long spending time outdoors in these parts of the megacity - not even the 'special' U.N. employees. Filth permeates the lower class areas and is more or less a part of life for the less privileged and those who deal with them.

Kagame looks at the other men standing around. "Is anyone responsible for your unit?"

Tired of everyone looking down at each other (and especially him), he decided to provide the facts that this Afrikaner wanted. That and he supposes everyone else forget the briefing that they were given.

"Lt. Carter is the CO running this operation. We were told a weapons shipment had been taken be hostile native forces in this region and we've been tasked with regrouping with Militia forces and securing the shipment. Since you're a local, who would have the means of pulling something like this off, Afrikaner?" Duncan said, his eyes never leaving the ground.

We would Kagame thinks, but pushes the thought aside. What use would the ARM have for more weapons? Besides that, there's easily half a dozen other groups he can think of that could pull it off. He turns to face the speaker - the heavily equipped metal man. Despite his gear, which speaks of a rash, bold close-combat technique, the man's stance and voice betray some inner uncertainty.

"You mean to say that your mighty organization, with all of it's technology and resources, has no guess who might have done this?" he deflects the question, "And that you now concern yourselves with petty theft?" Kagame lets out a coarse, short laugh. "Have you not thought to ask yourself why we're all really here, Peacekeeper, if this is the mission we've been given?"

Thus far unimpressed, Kagame lights another cigarette, subconciously blowing the smoke towards Loach. Perhaps this Lt. Carter knows more than these grunts, or ourselves.

The backdoor of the warehouse flies open as Lt. Carter emerges his hand gripping the door handle, his knuckles turning white from the amount of force applied to it. "Inside. Now.", he says through gritted teeth.

Finally. I hope his breakfast was good.

Kagame pushes past the Lt, into the warehouse. It's in a fair state of disarray, much to his surprise - for all their flawed logic and faults, the U.N. is usually tidy. Must still be setting things up.

"Ahem, well, excuse our mighty organization for not being up-to-date on such....rustic locales, militiaman. And I'm not sure what your tone is supposed to convey with that sentence, "why we're all really here." I'm pretty sure we're here for the same reason we're always here. To put some pressure on the locals, get some names, find some people, put bullets in those people, and locate what they've stolen." Loach recited casually, fanning away the cigarette smoke heading his way offhandedly with a gloved hand. He seemed to adapt quite well to a situation he apparently knew nothing about twenty seconds ago.

"And I don't care for the question-dodging going on here. And let's just say that no, our organization doesn't have an idea of who it might've been. You live here, correct? So, I'm gonna go ahead and guess that you might have some inkling of a clue when it comes to pointing fingers at which shitbirds just might've stolen a shipment of weapons from a large military organizatio-" Alas, he was cut off by the Lieutenant, who burst out the door just as Loach was finishing up his sentence. With a little grumbling due to his monologue being cut off, Loach headed on in after his new CO.

The lieutenant takes a deep breath, closes his eyes for a brief moment, and then proceeds to the "briefing center". "Alright. If all of you are done bickering at each other like housewives at a soccer meeting, we can actual discuss the mission at hand. Like adults.", he proceeds over to a small hologram projector on the floor in the center of the 'briefing room' and steps on it to activate his 'presentation'.

"As you all have, loudly. Confirmed, you know about what we're doing here. Some group of wannabe freedom fighters hijacked some shipment of prototype weapons, yadda-yadda we gotta go find them." Your CO walks through the projection displaying the cargo that was stolen, he clicks the remote in his hand and the image changes to that of a young man, thin-build, holding a 3D printed AK, he has a bright yellow bandana tied around his left wrist. "This right here gentleman is your freedom fighter. 'Harambe's Honor Guard', as they're calling themselves. Why they call themselves that is unknown and it really doesn't matter, fact is they have the weapons we need and they need to be gotten rid of. So look for the yellow bandana's it'll lead you to the cache." The projection turns off and Carter turns to face all of you, "Now if you have any questions, ask them now using your indoor-voices."

"Lt. Carter, do we have an idea on their source of income? If we can perhaps track that down, we can perhaps locate enough information to find their HQ, which in turn can help locate the cache." Duncan said.

"No clue, from what it looks like they're dabbling in everything until they can get their foothold in something. That's why we're assuming they jacked the weapon shipment, so they can get in on the arms trade... or arms smuggling. One of our moles has been noticing a lot of their men coming and going out of some nightclub here in town, possibly drugs or human trafficking. Could be something you could look into.", Carter says tossing his projector remote on a nearby table.

Duncan nods quietly after the commander is finished and finally says, "Alright, then I suppose there is one course of action then: We need to head over to this establishment and find out what we can. We've wasted enough time outside so let's head over there right now."

Kagame stood at the back of the room, and listened to the U.N. officer's briefing, as well as Duncan's questions and replies. His ears perked up at the words "prototype weapons", and at the potential lead. Secret weapons. Nightclubs. Great. These Peacekeepers will stick out like a sore thumb, and, typical world-police U.N., will probably have no concern for collateral damage if things stir up.

Taking a step forward, he locks his eyes on the LT and says "Do we know how these kakkerlakke got information on the shipment? What sort of 'prototype' did they capture?"

He stubs out his third cigarette on some radio equipment, and continues.

"If they expected the shipment, what says they aren't expecting us to do exactly what you've planned to do - traipse around like a group of monkies, asking questions and shaking down petty criminals? And if they don't expect it, they will surely see your blue uniforms from half the city away, and be prepared by the time we get there."

He walks forward and stabs a finger through the rifle in the projection's hand. "And we do not know how many we may face, or how they are armed. If they are simply wanting weapons, we should prepare a 'shipment' of our own, and take them when they try to take it, not stumble in to whatever they may have waiting"

Carter pauses for a moment, scratches his beard with his augmented hand and then looks at the IT guy. "You did tap into another weapons shipment coming this way correct?", the lieutenant walks behind the IT guy's chair placing his hands on the back and looking over his head at the screen.

"Yeah, but its not heading this way.", he says scooting his chair towards his laptop. The IT begins to furiously type on his keyboard, looking over shipping schedules of Omni-Tech LTD. "I mean it'd take a lot of convincing to get them to send another shipment out, especially after they lost the last one. And from the sound of the plan, it sounds like there's a chance you could cost them more cargo."

Carter steps away from the computers and looks towards Kagame, "It's still an option, but so far from what we've seen they're armed with really cheap weapons. 3D printed ones. Stuff that wouldn't even pierce the armor we built into our implants. That's why we're not really worried about numbers here, they have a snowball's chance in Hell to take us out. As for the prototype, we don't even know, something energy based we know that for sure."

You can see that the IT guy is pulling up information about a corporate liaison, "Alright. I have some information on the Omni-Tech liaison, he's in the city proper so you'd still have to hoof it to get there. He's located at their PR office, office V-18, his name is Kyle Reese. If you wanna talk to him about your idea that's the guy you're going to have to go to." The printer lights up and starts whirring, in a few moments a sheet of paper with Kyle Reese's information slides out onto the tray.

Kagame earns +10XP for actually having an idea!

Kagame suppresses a smirk. Definately a cop, this one - walk around, follow leads, no accounting for the value of a tactical advantage. He turns to face Duncan.

"I do not see you having much luck grilling some barroom scum by yourself, Peacekeeper - not everyone finds your U.N. to be of benefit to us poor people." He waves a hand towards the front door, in an attempt to indicate his partner, still outside. "Nor do I see us having much success talking to some corporate stooge without the U.N. insisting on their co-operation."

"I am a soldier. My task is to plan, and fight, not to talk - this is what Kagoslov is for. My plan is tactically sound. We are well equipped, and have no reason to believe the kakkerlakke know we are looking for them - yet anyway. Yours, I think, is not, and does not need to be executed with urgency if your intel is to be believed. But as this is a 'U.N.' operation, it is also my task to accompany your unit to where ever you decide to go." The last words are said through gritted teeth.

He looks around the room at the rest of the Peacekeepers, as if expecting them to weigh in on the course of action. After a moment of reflection, he grudgingly adds "You may be correct in saying we should keep our options open. If it is decided that we should act separately, I'd ask that one of you U.N. accompanies me, to aid in.. persuasion." He motions towards the door again. "I'd suggest you take Kagoslov with you, if you can pry him away from his conversation in the jeep. His... 'skill' would be valuable."

Returning to his thoughts, he ponders over the other information the CO provided. Either he doesn't know anything else, or he isn't telling us - the U.N. aren't fools, so why aren't they more concerned about being sent on such a trivial operation? Besides, there's no way that a bunch of backwater 'revolutionaries' with toy rifles could take a well guarded arms shipment without either an insider, or some other factor we don't know about.

The dangerous one speaks! Not the one I expected to offer help, but maybe there is a soldier in this group. Still, this will require persuasion and guile to succeed, not someone who can shoot well. That, hopefully, comes later, and I can do that better than any Peacekeeper I've met.

"And you feel you could convince this liaison to provide information and assistance?" Kagame says, trying to gauge what other skills this guy might bring to the table.

Loach remarked in a not-at-all subtle way, coughing into his arm as he strode to the center of the room. "Anyhow, well, those barroom folks might not be up for speaking with a UN rep, but how 'bout a suave young guy with a lot of cash representing some groups that may wanna, I dunno, buy this shipment?"

Bar Crawl

Duncan and Loach head out into the front of the warehouse, sticking out from the crowd like sore thumbs. High-tech looking fools, nicely dressed, and visibly armed... okay that last thing isn't out of the ordinary here. Seems like everyone over the age of 4 has a gun strapped to them, probably best not to stir up any trouble unless you're ready to take on a giant horde of pissed off poor.

Even with your high-dollar augments, you'd be reduced to blood and scrap before you can even get down one street. (Don't take this as a challenge.)

Down the muddied streets to your right you see some stores and a giant signpost that's pointing in every which way with text sloppy painted on the jagged arrows that jut out of the signpost like branches on a tree.

To the left you see a street lead into the wide open plains of Africa, tall dry grassy fields and a few trees as far as your enhanced eyes can see.

The street is packed with people and the air is filled with the noise of chatter and other such normal things.

Slum Scum

Kagame and Jamie head out the front door of the warehouse and walk down a ways to still see their driver casually tapping on the wheel while the other Militia man just stares at his supplies, almost comatose. Kagame's driver turns around and spots Kagame and the UN boy, "Done so soon? Thought I'd be at the bar by the time you got out, but our friend has just frozen up. Maybe malaria?"

Bar Crawl

You proceed down the muddied streets and arrive at a larger shanty shack constructed out of sheet metal and shipping containers, it has an old coke sign quietly buzzing above the entrance. There is some writing right next to the entrance, written in bright cyan paint it reads, "Mac Donalds".

Loud trance music rattles the exterior. No one is guarding the entrance, but there are some dirt bike.

Slum Scum

Your driver sits silently as he pulls out of the shanty onto an asphalt road, he clicks through some stations on the radio settling for a nice hip-hop station. After a few more minutes he pulls onto an overpass freeway and cuts a few lanes across on the busy road. In a an hour or two you'll arrive in "The City of Glass".

The cheetah-man had caught up with them quickly. Kagame glances over at Kagoslov, who'd hopped into the seat next to him as they made their way through the crowds.

"So what did boss-man tell us to do again?" his partner asks.

Sigh.

"We're off to meet with a corporate liaison. His group has managed to lose a shipment of arms to what our new C.O. has assured us is nothing more than some ordinary kakkerlak street scum, and we've been tasked with retrieving it." He lights his fifth cigarette, and continues, "For whatever reason, the U.N. have decided to get involved with this petty crime, and have been *gracious* enough to allow us to participate. Half of their team is off playing policeman," he motions to the other two men in the jeep, "While these ones have smartly chosen to come with us to try and get more information before proceeding."

He draws on his smoke, and exhales a thick cloud that quickly dissipates in the breeze. "We, or rather one of you, will also hopefully be able to convince this liaison to allow us to reroute the next arms shipment nearby, so that we can lay an ambush for these kakkerlakkes rather than blundering around like our U.N. friends."

((So, just to make sure I'm straight on this, Duncan and Loach are at the bar, and the rest of us are crammed in this little jeep, right?))

SIGH. Though Kagoslov had been very useful on many occasions in the past, his mannerisms and wit having diffused more than one tense situation and helped the militiamen get their hands on information they otherwise wouldn't have access to, it sometimes took all of Kagame's strength not to strangle him to death.

Bar Crawl

Entering the building you see that it's a lot larger on the inside, a small dancefloor ahead of you made from taped together card board boxes with a cheap plastic disco ball hooked up to the ceiling with a even smaller DJ booth tucked into the corner.

To the right of you is a bar that takes up the entirety of a wall, three shelves fully stocked with a random assortment of "local flavorings" along with some taps that have seen better days.

There's also a few places to sit and lounge around situated around tables that are filled with discarded pill bottles, bongs, and needles.

Besides the janitor picking up discarded garbage, the place is empty.

Slum Scum

You enter the city proper, its sprawling freeways towering as high as the skyscrapers that surround you. The road you're on cuts through several buildings and weaves between them like a snake. You see the Omni-Tech Headquarters from here, a tall obsidian colored building with orange neon lights along the borders of the windows.

Your driver rolls down the windows to let out the cigarette smoke, even in the future smokers are still inconsiderate fucks.

As the jeep gets closer to the building, Kagame does a final check of his gear. All in place. Almost as an afterthought, he leans over and taps the driver on the shoulder. "Let me borrow your knife."

Duncan, with Loach in tow, approaches the janitor.

"Sir, I'm with the UN. I need to talk to the owner of this establishment."

[[Alright finally after planning out what videos are coming out for the channel, and taking a break from Gamemaker and the internet in general I can start updating this once more.]]

Bar Crawl

The janitor jerks his broom to the side sending dust flying up in the air, "And I'm from the Cleaners Union, I'd like for you to get off of my dust pile." The small framed janitor glares at you and points down to your feet. Underneath your enormous boots you see that you squashed a sizable pile of lint, dust, and glass into the stained fibers of the carpet.

From behind you hear a heavy metal door swing open, heavy footsteps follow suit. "Oh great. Another government boy here to harass us yet again!", says a man in a booming voice. You hear the clacking and rattling of firearms!

Slum Scum

Your driver curls his lips, "I don't know what you're exactly planning, but I don't think giving them a 'shave' will be the best course of action." He unhooks his sheath (with the knife still in it) from his shoulder and hands it to you.

You feel the car jerking to a stop as you park at the front of the Omni-Tech building. The front of the Omni-Tech building is one big concrete plaza that's bustling with activity, men and women dressed in sharp jet black uniforms and suits. You can see a few private security guards, outfitted in some serious gear patrolling on a cat walk suspended above the plaza.

In the center of the plaza is a giant fountain that's displaying holograms that advertise various Omni-Tech products.

"Harassment is hardly the term I'd use. Please lower your weapons or I will be authorized to use deadly force." Duncan said as he stood his ground, but ready to use his cybernetics to help clear the jump between him and the bar where he would take cover.

"You're a bit forward, ain't ya?" Loach off-handedly inquired of Duncan, laughing a bit under his breath."Anyways, ahem...OI! WHAT MY PARTNER SAID! SHUT THE FUCK UP, PUT THE WEAPONS DOWN, OR I PUT THREE ROUNDS IN EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU!" Loach's voice was surprisingly menacing compared to his usual tone, his hand effortlessly brandishing the shining piece at his side. His coat would protect him from some small-arms fire, but to be sure, he slid on over to a table, using his shoulder to knock it over for cover.

Bar Crawl [Get Busy Posting or Get Busy Dying]

Loach sends the junk on the table flying all over the floor, bongs, needles, and discarded patches scatter and crash onto the carpet. The janitor sighs as he walks over to the new mess to sweep it up.

Both of you turn to face the irritated group. You see a augmented African man that stands at about six feet, his right arm has been replaced with chrome cybernetics that gleam in the light, his eyes have been modified with some form of UI as you see small strings of yellow text scan across the inside of his eye. Behind him are three lowly grunts in junk armor made from tires and left over UN gear from a policing action many, many decades ago.

The owner of the establishment is unarmed, while his grunts are equipped with 3D-Printed AKs.

"Oh nice. Another set of retards that immediately run for cover once they see a few men standing around with AKs. You dumbasses know that we're allowed to have these right?", he applies his palm to his face in an irritated manner. "Listen if you came here expecting a fight I'm sorry to leave you disappointed, between the usual shit I have to scrap off the floors here-" The janitor interrupts him, "I think you mean the shit I have to scrape off the floors." His boss stops and stares at the lowly employee for a full second. He continues.

"Along with these kids thinking they're freedom fighters because they have a gun and a rag tied around their wrists. We're pretty stretched thin as it is. Just ask what you need to ask, fix my table, and then get the fuck out of my club." You notice that his grunts are moving towards his sides, their guns still aimed at the ground.

Kagame tucks the knife into his leatherboots, doing his best to conceal it. I don't plan on surrendering my weapons, but you never know with these corporate types.

"Hey, Kagame? When this shit is over wanna hit the club?" Kagoslov says from beside him.

That mind is never on the task at hand."No." he replies flatly. He jumps from the back of the jeep, and begins walking towards the building at a slow pace, waiting for the others to catch up.

Alex exits the jeep, looking up the skyscraper and whistling.   "Ooh, fancy.   Can't wait for this to go wrong."

Kagame attempts to hide his knife, he succeeds.

You proceed past the concrete plaza and arrive at the doors of the building, you see two armed guards situated in between the doors and some lesser security personnel scanning people for contraband. One of the armed security officers starts looking over your way and nudges the other guard to look towards your way.

You didn't exactly show up dressed for a business meet.

Jamie gets out of the Jeep, he hurries to Kagame. He looks toward to security guards, "Well, this can either go really good or really bad... But hey," he starts to say in a dry sing song voice, "Ya gotta look on the briiight side of life."

Kagame, not wanting trouble to begin where there obviously shouldn't be any, sizes up the guards, and walks directly towards the one he deems 'in charge'.

"We are from the UN. We have an appointment with a Mr. Reese."

Loach awkwardly stands from his position behind the table, scratching his head with the barrel of his pistol. "Hey, you gotta admit you came off pretty menacing there, bud. Anyways..." He steps over the table, waving his arms around dismissively. "Let's forget what just happened. We're not here to harass you guys. We're here to find those dumbass "freedom fighters." You think you can help us out, anything at all?"
