Post by: Noctifer-De-Mortem on November 05, 2016, 08:29:38 am
Do any of you play pokemon rom hacks? Any recommendations? I was playing Pokémon advance advanture but the cyborg motif turned me off... Pokemon snakewood seems promesing and so does Light platinum.

The problem isn't finding links, it's finding ones you can be reasonably sure are the good shit. :V

Set up a sandbox environment and then download one to see if its legit.

How do you even do that in Windows aside from VMs? Linux has the whole sandbox/jail thing down but I've never figured out if Windows does it.

VMs is the way to go with windows especially if you want to use an antivirus in the test. Haven't tried using a bootable external harddrive for tests.

Never really tried sandbox or VM in Windows, admittedly. >.o

Its not really difficult and not as resources intense as you might think.

VMs are really only as resource intensive as you let them be really, depending upon how you're using them. They're also incredibly versatile, you can use one to allow two people to game off one computer with two monitors, keyboards and mice.

It can be a pain in the ass to do and often requires specific software to set up like VMWare, though I believe Windows 10 may natively be capable of it since it has fairly expanded VM support.

I would just make the VM connect to the wifi game via lan.
