so, here we are. the planet Outreach, stonghold of the Wolf's Dragoons. a practial hive for mercenary activities. you four were lucky, you won a sponsorship in a competition, and are on your way to the hall where your reward mechs and C-bills are being held.
"well, here we are" The man driving the car said, loudly. "yer mechs are in the hanger there, a full lance of lights. Divide them up as you wish, there is a man inside to describe em to ya. tata"
The man driving the car was a representative of the Erandi Lighthorse, a rich and old mercenary unit with a very good reputation. the hanger is a large, grey warehouse, with a look of slight neglect to it.
(my bad OP skills go!)
-
"Woo! Alright!" Jove starting running for the hanger faster than his legs could move. "Thanks man!" Jove cried out in joy as he stumbled into the warehouse, taking note of how drab it looked, but he was pumped to get out and working mechs again.
-
Gimhon patiently waits for his fackin' mech, not saying a word.
-
Cath followed the others at her own pace, glancing over her surroundings before entering the hangar behind Jove. She glances back at Gimhon, wondering what he was waiting for then goes to look at the mechs.
-
(im just going to go on without Lork for this first update)
You step inside the hanger. it looks just as run down on the inside, with what looks like a smaller building in one corner. but all you really see are the mechs. standing ten meters high, they are massive compared to you. there is a man standing in front of them, talking to a few techies. once he sees you, he walks over. "so, are you the new owners? names Charles, I'm in charge of maintenance around here." he says, taking a slight bow. "its a good mix of mechs here, the computer has a list, so you can divvy them up there. now, if you will excuse me, we were trying to find some sort of rodent that slipped in." He walks off. The computer is in the small building.
-
Gimhon looks at le computer in the building.
-
Jove, not getting there first, watches the screen impatiently behind Gimhon. "Heyyyy, hurry up will ya?"
-
On the screen, you see three buttons. one says contract, one says inventory, and one says Mechbay. you click the mechbay, and see on the list.
One Urbanmech, a short and painfully slow machine, but with a very big gun. (http://www.sarna.net/wiki/images/thumb/4/41/Urbanmech.jpg/191px-Urbanmech.jpg.png)
One Commando, a workhorse light mech useful for many things.(http://vignette4.wikia.nocookie.net/battletech/images/b/b3/3025_Commando1.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20060921145016)
One Stinger, a scout mech that moves fast and is dirt cheap.(http://www.solaris7.com/Images/TRO/BattleMechs/3025%20Stinger1.JPG)
One Jenner, an iconic, if mediocre, scouting mech with a decent set of weapons.(http://www.sarna.net/wiki/images/thumb/8/87/3025_Jenner1.jpg/191px-3025_Jenner1.jpg)
-
"Ooh! I call that!" Jove says pointing to the Urbanmech. "Guns are my style, if you couldn't tell." He smiled with a little eyebrow wiggle.
-
"Uh... I'll go with the Commando."
These all suck.
-
"Fuckn' sick, a Jennner!" Mike yells as he pokes the button repeatedly.
-
Cath shrugged and picked the Stinger. They all worked for her.
-
(sorry for the gap, my moms idea of light exercise is over a hour of biking over bumpy, hilly, ill maintained Missouri country roads.)
Now that that is taken care of, you check the CONTRACTS menu. Here you see several jobs that are currently up for the taking. The only people willing to hire a light mech lance right now are the Free Worlds League, who need a light force to deal with some minor piracy on a border world, and the Magistry of Canopus, who need a garrison for a world on the border with the free worlds league. The first job pays 500000 c-bills, and the second pays 450000. Both have you on contract for a month.
-
Gimhon does whatever has to be done to pick the first job.
So detailed, I know. :P
-
(FWL pirate shooting it is)
You sign up for the Free Worlds League Contract. A representative arrives shortly, and orders his men to get your mechs into the dropship. he turns to youn and says "so, you are the Mercs who took that contract eh?? Well, you are in FWL employ now, so hurry up to the dropship. the mission will be elaborated on once you are en route to the mission site. We offer you full salvage rights to the pirates vehicles, we dont need a few cobbled together tanks/light mechs." He smiles, and motions for you to get in the dropship. "Also, enjoy the ride."
-
"Finally, action!" Mike said as he hurried onto the dropship [In his Jenner if that's what was said]
-
(No, this is a fairly fancy dropship. It has a crane. Less jostling for position.)
-
"Agreed, my friend!" Jove yells out, hopping into his mech and getting ready for pick up, and drop down.
-
Gihmon enters his mech, and looks around the controls, glad that they seem some-what familiar. He then waits for pickup.
-
You get yuor mechs into the belly of the beast. a voice comes over the overhead speakers. "ok, we will be arriving at the mission site in a weeks time, im transmitting your briefing to the computer in the crew area now."
The Mission Briefing reads
Mission: Pirate Raid
Objective: Destroy all enemy elements occupying the ruined moonbase.
Location: the moon of Titul, a minor world on the fringes of the FWL.
Conditions: Hard Vacuum, no weather.
Expected resistance: Light armor and mechs
Pay:500000
Salvage rights:Full.
-
"How many explosions- I mean enemies should we be expecting." Mike said with his shark grin. He reveled in the joys of combat and never thought twice.
-
"No more then two lances. Minor pirate king, shouldn't be too difficult."
