Title: 1948: The New Order
Post by: RedVulnus on April 20, 2017, 12:48:36 am
History took an unexpected turn. D-Day was supposed to be a victory for the allies. No one expected the well armored Nazi soldiers, the twelve foot tall machine gun toting walking tanks, or the Arc Troopers. Entire squads of men all killed in a single burst from their weapons as they swept the deadly electric weapons over the battlefield.

Now the Reich rules America and the vast majority of Europe. Only a small contingent of rugged Soviet soldiers hold onto a small portion of Russia. The Japanese took over most of Asia and now they have an unsteady peace with the Reich. Resistance still lives in Europe and America.

That brings us here. Dissidents, the mentally ill, and those declared as 'deviants' were gathered up and thrust into cells wherever they were found. They would then be transported to the camps, normally labor camps but some were sent to the infamous death camps, where they would be put to work or death as the Reich saw fit.

Several individuals declared as Dissidents were being specially transported in a set of armored transport vehicles. No matter how much armor you have you won't be going anywhere if a bullet manages to disable your engine. The Resistance needed several of the men in these transports. But of course you already knew that, after all it was you they were looking for.
----
The heavy metal vehicle had been driving for hours and you'd become accustomed to the occasional bump in the road as you sat in the hard metal chair in your restraints. The faint sound of the two men in the cabin had lost any meaning it had initially had s the two completely switched to speaking in their native German language. The other prisoners offered little conversation either as they contemplated their fate.

You didn't hear the gunshot or the impact but you felt the vehicle suddenly stop. You heard one of the guards yell "Scheiße! Jemand schoss den Motor! Hast du den Schützen gesehen?" The response was also heard "Nein! Aber er muss in der Nähe gewesen sein!"

A series of pings sounded from the walls as bullets impacted or bounced off of the vehicle. After a couple of seconds the back door opened and a man climbed in and un-cuffed you before saying in a heavy French accent "Come with me now! Fritz will have called for help by now! Here, there are a couple of guns in there!" With that he tossed a bag into the truck.

----
Now, who are you?

Name: Katherine 'Kat' McKenzie
Gender: Female
Nationality: Welsh
Background: Her parents immigrated to the US in 1912. She was born in Providence, Rhode Island in 1925. When she was five she had aggressively attacked another student at her school. Her parents took her to a psychiatrist to figure out what was wrong with her. The doctors declared she had a severe case of multiple personality disorder. Fast forward to 1946. She is in her mental support home when the Nazis attacked. She was the only one of her group that made it out. She fought so viciously that they had to retreat at that moment. In early 1948 they had captured her and now she is being transported to an infamous death camp.

Name: Heinrich (Dr. Heindorf) Düsseldorf
Gender: Male
Nationality: German
Background: Heinrich is what is commonly called a "pure blooded nazi" with blonde hair and pearl blue eyes, ever since he was young he had dreamt of being a scientist. His parents fled from Germany during the Great War to escape the horrors that were there, Heinrich was born in 1920 in rural Minnesota. In 1935 he moved back to Germany knowing people like him, blonde hair blue eyes, were basically worshipped. Soon after he arrived in Berlin the fürer himself came to visit him as he took an iq test in Germany that rated him as an absolute genius. He soon began work with the smartest people in Germany, with the outbreak of WWII his career kicked into overdrive. Fast forward to recent events, a few years ago he was told by a psychiatrist that he was mentally ill and unstable, so the psychiatrist recommended to stop his work, being a little stubborn, Heinrich kept working, the reason he is on the armored car now is for treason, he was selling military designs to resistance fighters. Notable projects that Heinrich participated in: Nazi bell, arc weaponry, and various experimental aircraft.

So quick couple of notes before I start this either later today or tomorrow.

The year this takes place in is in the title. It's 1948 in the RP.

And if I'm correct in what the Nazi Bell is, it didn't work in this.

Name: John Fitzgerald "Jack" Kennedy
Gender: Male
Nationality: American
Background: Jack always knew he was destined for something big. Coming from one of the most influential families in North America, he was given only the finest of everything as a child, from his education to borderline immunity to the law.

Besides the obvious benefits of being a Kennedy, the family also instill in him a strong dislike of Communism, and during the lead up to the second world war, Joseph Kennedy, his father, used his various political positions to subtly garner support for international groups willing to oppose the reds wherever they may be found, such as the Spanish Nationalist Forces and the nascent Nazi movement.

Seeing personal opinions as secondary to the public's perception, the Kennedys shifted to a much more patriotic stance after  the US entered the war, with many of his relatives enlisting. Jack managed to use his father's connections to get both a commission in the U.S. Naval Reserve, and appointment to the staff of the Office of Naval Intelligence, a nice, safe job that was prestigious and respected, while keeping him far from the front lines. His service was fairly unremarkable until late June, 1944, when a series of historic and personal events caused a marked shift in his behavior.

The most significant event in his personal life was the death of his brother, Joseph Jr., who had enlisted as a bomber pilot against his father's wishes. Though available records from that chaotic time are not particularly detailed or even fully assembled yet, it appears he was shot down and killed some time during the failed D-Day invasion. While the personal loss hit Jack hard, it hit his father harder - Joe Jr. had, for most of his life, been groomed and prepared for one single event - becoming president soon after the war ended. With his loss, Joe Sr.'s focus shifted to Jack, who developed previously unseen ambitions and embraced his future whole heatedly.

This, however, was not the benevolent future that had been created for Joe Jr., thanks almost totally to the crushing failure of the Normandy landings. Joe Sr., always both somewhat sympathetic to the fascist cause, and considered a defeatist to the point it had ruined his own political career, had seen that the writing was on the wall for the Allies after the Nazi war machine easily slaughtered them on the beaches, and had accordingly begun the process of preparing his family to maintain their success should the war end unfavorably for the Allies or the US. Jack, as the new best bet for future political power, and in a particularly good position for it, managed to convince the Abwehr to recruit him as an espionage agent, and he spent the rest of the war passing secrets to the German intelligence.

This, combined with the efforts of the rest of his family, meant that the Kennedys were almost completely unmolested after the war ended, and unlike virtually every other prominent family in North America, managed to retain a great deal of power and wealth despite the rigid social and socialist economic policies of the new regime. Jack, (likely correctly) guessing that the road to political power in this new world order is to be found through military service, formally transferred to Abwehr field operations at the end of the war, aiding in the pacification of Occupied America. He has also officially joined the party, in preperation for the eventual civil reorganization of western society and to be best prepared to seize his position as controller of the Americas under the Third Reich.

(TL;DR Skills: Basic military training, advanced intelligence training, covert operations training, speaks english, german, and french, powerful connections, lots of money, etc. etc. I didn't really have a way to convey it without making this really long, but he's supposed to be a good, but not really exceptional military intelligence agent who gets treated like an exceptional one by most people around him.)

In early 1950 they had captured her and now she is being transported to an infamous death camp.
It's 1948...details are kind of important.

Now onto starting this thing!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Heinrich, Katherine, and Erica Braum

The man shook his head as he finished uncuffing the rest of the prisoners and said "All we have for you are some old MP40s. Now you need to go right once you leave the truck and head straight down the road with the rest of us. We'll show you the way but stick with us."

The sound of several German soldiers yelling came from outside as the man walked towards the doorway. One of them came into view and began to lift his weapon when a bullet hit him in the head and sent his body to the ground. Hopping out of the truck the man motioned for you to go as he fired at an enemy you were yet to see. "Hurry now! We've got to do this quickly!" He shouted as his sturmgewehr fired at the approaching enemy.

--
Jack

The armored truck drove down the road towards the city you'd be operating inside of for the next few days at the least. Sitting in the front passenger seat you saw the countryside pass quickly by as your driver and Demolitions expert Paul quietly tapped the steering wheel with his thumbs. You heard him say idly in German "If only the radio worked out here. At least then there'd be some music, maybe the results of a local game of...whatever these idiots play out here...sorry sir, I forgot myself."

In the back were your two rifleman Oskar and Emil along with Schultz the Arc Trooper under your command. Schultz spoke through the window between the cabin and the back of the truck "Oh will you shut up Paul, we've been driving for the past six hours and you won't shut up about the damn radio not getting signal for the past four!"

Paul shook his head and you could tell he was about to say something when the radio crackled to life. Paul smiled under his helmet "Well I hope you like this new American 'garbage' you always complain about back at base Schultz." taking a second to look at his watch Paul said "We should be there in ten minutes. Could probably see the place once we're over this hill."

Coming over the hill you did in fact see the city you'd been assigned to. The checkpoint that you were soon to reach also stood out thanks to the watch tower with the multiple mounted machine guns attached to the sides. According to your orders a Behemoth Trooper was in what had become the Reich's Enforcement Office. A warehouse converted into an operation base for intelligence operations and starting point for anti resistance operations. The men you'd been assigned were there to aid in whatever operation you should require them for.

Jack suppressed a smile at the exchange of his companions. They were alright - he had a hard time not thinking of them as just a bunch of kids, in a strange land far from home, despite him not being any older or the current incarnation of the United States being really much more familiar to him. Though he hadn't worked with them before, he'd found it was fairly easy to integrate himself into their circle, despite his initial reception as a somewhat untrustworthy Amerikanischer Helfer. For the most part, he was just happy that he wasn't stuck with a bunch of SS jackasses. While most people in the Party were pretty normal, something about the blackshirts, particularly the ones he frequently found himself working with, was a little unnerving.

As they pulled into their new posting, Jack couldn't help but marvel at how little the city had changed since his last visit, pre-war. Besides the heavily armed structure looming in front of him, and some flags that would have looked more than a little out of place a few years earlier, you'd be pretty hard pressed to actually notice what had happened, or that a low scale insurgency war was raging every day.

Paul pulled up, and shut off the engine, killing the lights and the jazzy sounds coming from the radio it a sharp click of the controls. Grabbing his hat from the dash, and adjusting it on his head, Jack jumped from the cab, and walked to the back of the truck.

"Sarge," he said, eschewing Paul's lengthy, formal german title for the more causal and convenient American term, "You and Shultz will come with me to report." He glanced at the two riflemen dismounting from the cargo bay, and switched to German. "You two secure the truck and check out the area. See what our neighbours look like. Find a good bar too, if you can."

As his men moved off, he took a deep breath and entered the warehouse. "Sieg Heil," he exclaimed, snapping a sharp salute that was matched by the men next to him. Though he'd been given the impression that this was to be more or less his command, he assumed a senior officer would likely be present to hand over the command, or to act in a supervisory role. Better to embarrass himself saluting to inferiors than to accidentally breach protocol. "Stabsrichter John Kennedy reporting, sir!"

Heinrich, Kat, and Erica

As the three of you jumped out of the van the man started back pedaling before turning and sprinting down the road. "Why wouldn't we save the man who sold us some very valuable information, after all right now you've not really got any choice but to work with us." The man shouted over the gunfire.

To the left of you you could see a number of German soldiers firing into the buildings and road that you needed to run down. Down the road you could see a number of resistance members returning fire as one motioned for you to hurry. Rushing down the road with the man he led you into an alley and down a hidden entrance to the sewers while the others followed quickly behind. The man shook his head as he lead you through the sewers "Sorry about the smell but this is a better way than just rushing through the damn roads. Quite frankly we'd have lost more men then you'd be worth doing that."

One of the others shook his head and said "Oh will you shut up ya damn pessimistic asshole. We need anyone we can get and besides they ought to be able to help out."

One of the men with you now reached into a bag and handed each of you a headset "Here, need these to be able to communicate over distances. Plus the boss wants to talk to ya."

Jack

Several of the men stopped to return the salute while others continued moving large boxes through the room. A man approached and gave a short salute in return before speaking in German "At ease everyone. Mister Kennedy I cannot say it's a pleasure to see you here. I would be handing over control of this operation to you if not for certain individuals doubting your capabilities to carry out your duty which makes my job more difficult. So I am giving you command but will be supervising you and will have the capability to veto any orders you give."

A voice came over the intercom asking for the commander to come to his office. Sighing the man said "You are free to use any resources, both material and personnel, that you should require for whatever operations you care to undertake. You'll also be managing things here. There's the 'war room' set up, it contains information on areas of suspected activity and individuals who are believed to be at least sympathizers of the resistance. It would be advisable to at least have patrols in those areas, maybe assign some of our agents to follow those suspects as well. But that's no longer my job though if you should desire any help I'll be available in my office. Oh, and your Behemoth trooper is in the vehicle bay for now."

The man walked away to leave you to begin your work.  Schultz watched the man go and only spoke once he was out of earshot "Why do I doubt working with him is going to be fun?"

Paul shrugged as he looked at Jack "Any orders sir? Or should me and Schultz find our two riflemen before they decide to get drunk at the first bar they find?"

Heinrich quickly followed the resistances fighters into the sewers.

You have a good point, also, I designed these sewer tunnels, the tunnel walls absorb the nasty smells from the air, so the smell isn't the thing to worry about, there are laser tripwires with arc emitters attepaced to them, just follow me.

He started to carefully traverse the sewers.

((so couple things. Frist I'm not going to be able to update today since I'll be without the internet for a while, secondly please don't assume things about the environment you are in, especially without asking me first. Describing things is fine but there's no booby traps and the Germans wouldn't have designed the sewer systems in what was an already existing city before they arrived. if you want to include these types of details in a post either PM me or catch me in the chat and we'll talk it over.))

Jack watched his "commander" scurry away. It had been the welcome he expected, and he immediately wrote the man off as one of those old Prussian "war is fun, occupation isn't" types. With a sigh, he turned to his men.

"Shultz, take a quick little poke around. I'm sure our friends here have set up an adequate defensive perimeter, but I'd like you to make sure. After that, go round up the other two and have them report back." The corporal nodded, and Jack looked towards Paul. "There's a bit more work to be done before we investigate whatever watering hole the others have found," he smiled, "I want you to check through the personnel files and inventory reports. See who we're working with and what sort of equipment we can expect to be dealing with. As the commandant suggested, I'm going to go over those reports, check the current assignments, and see if anything stands out as a worthwhile use of our time. We'll reconvene in two hours."

He flashed a quick salute, dismissing his soldiers and moving towards the ops room. As an after thought, he turned back to Paul, and quietly added "Make sure to find out our new commandant's name, just in case he plans to be more hands on than he indicated. See if you can dig up anything useful on him, but don't dedicate too much time to it just yet."

Erica grunts quietly as she braces the MP40 with her knees, using her good arm to reach across and pull back the handle slightly.   Satisfied that they did, in fact, give her a gun with bullets, she goes back to holding it 'normally', and heads off with the rest of the group.

Jack

The ops room was large enough to house a large map of the city, several operatives listening to radio chatter and directing security forces where they're needed and other various tasks. An officer who you assumed to be around the age of nineteen approached with a set of folders and you noted the missing ear and mask over the left half of his face. Snapping a quick salute the man said "Hello sir, good to see some new blood running this place. I am in charge of radio dispatch and communications as well as confidential files such as these." Laying them on a nearby table the man continued "These are the personnel files of those that came here with you should you like to view them. Someone up the chain of command said they were for your eyes only."

Motioning to an old filing cabinet the man said "Should you like to see old reports we keep a back log of two months on hand before sending them to a storage facility." Walking over to the map table the man continued "Should you like any older reports we can request them from the storage facility. It will take some time of course but sometimes our agents over look details in reports before filing them away."

He then opened a drawer on the table that the map was on and pulled out a handful of reports. "The current reports are kept here. Nothing of much concern so far today, a few arrests for public drunkeness, one for lewd behavior, and an incident of domestic violence which the officers on hand dealt with. Some concerns in District 4 though, one of our Abwehr agents over heard some individuals speaking ill of the Reich, one of which we've had suspicions about already. If you should like we can have him watched."

Motioning to the map itself the man said "You can assign men and Abwehr agents to the districts on the map. As you can see we have several agents watching District 2, the place of business of a man named Xavier Bronson in specific. Some suspicious activity has been happening in the area near the business and he was already suspected so a handful of agents have been following him."

Continuing the man said "We're also watching a number of other places including the 'Bronze Star Brewery', the 'Northern hotel', and a public housing building in district 5. Those are all of our current intelligence operations. Everything else is just the standard patrols and arrests that happen everyday. Nothing requiring your attention though I'm sure the police department will be more than willing to provide the reports you want."

The man gave another quick salute and said "If you should require me simply call for Walter over the intercom." With that he went over to one of the radios and started listening to the radio chatter, occasionally speaking to someone on the line.

Two hours later Paul you found Paul berating two of the Wehrmacht soldiers in the warehouse before walking over toward you. "I'm sure things went well for you. Equipment wise we have plenty of surveillance gear to run a handful of operations, wish we had more but it looks like the commandant was more worried about armed uprisings then preventing them so we have more guns than we have personnel. Speaking of personnel we're dealing primarily with newer recruits from the Wehrmacht, a few veterans from the European war mixed in but not many. The Abwehr men we have are a bit more experienced on average but they all seem to want to put a..." Paul stopped to think for a second before continuing "...put what the Americans called 'stars and bars' on their shoulders I think. They want a medal at least. Younger men wanting to make a name for themselves."

Shaking his head Paul said "Our Commandant friend is named Gerhard. He did something and got sent to the Russian front but it's been classified. Whatever he did over there impressed someone because he got transferred out of the front and to America." Paul pulled a cigarette out and lit it before continuing "Trust me sir, you have to fuck up badly, very badly, to get sent to the Russian front. You have to do something miraculous to get back out."

Paul motioned to the entrance and said "Kids are home."

Schultz walked through the doorway behind Oskar and Emil shouting at them. As they approached you heard Schultz say "Hello Sir, I'm back with the two men who were, as they put it, 'investigating the locals'. And By that they mean attempting to talk two of the local women into bed later tonight, rather unsuccessfully."

Oskar mumbled something under his breath about not having much experience which received a strike to the back of the helmet from Schultz. "Awaiting your orders sir."

The Resistance

The headset crackled to life as a voice came over the radio "Hello new recruits. We're going to be nice and give you the choice between joining us or us giving you a Saturday Night Special and sending you on your way after we take you a ways away from our base. I highly recommend option one."

The frenchman that had rescued you led you further down the tunnels as the man continued speaking to you over the radio "We could use more people, always do. You'll be helping free America and later the rest of the world. Of course as I said it's up to you, after all we only really were after helping out a friend of ours on those transports but figured we'd save everyone else involved."

The man leading you said "Okay, here we are." One of the others started up the ladder to your right as the Frenchman waited and watched the tunnels. "All clear up here."

Motioning for you to go first the Frenchman waited. Once up the ladder the resistance members led you onto a large truck with the others they rescued. "Of course you'll make that decision once you get to our base, give you time to consider things." the man said

The back of the truck was closed and you felt it begin to accelerate out of the building. Some time passed, how long you weren't sure, before it stopped and you were guided  into a warehouse and blind folded. From there you were led somewhere that you couldn't tell the location of. Once the blind folds were removed you found yourselves in a sealed room with a man sitting in a chair in front of you. Smiling at you he took a sip from the cup he was holding before speaking in a distinctly british accent "So, the boss wants to know what your decision is. So what's it gonna be? On the run or working with us?"

There was more than a little bit to be done. Fortunately, besides serving a minor purpose, the informal recon mission he'd sent the others on had given Jack time to put together a basic angle of attack.

Firstly, the basics. He cast a severe glance at the two riflemen. Though they hadn't really followed his orders of consciously gauging the attitude of the locals in the immediate area, the fact that they'd managed to make asses of themselves without causing any trouble led him to conclude that it was pretty unlikely there was any immediate, significant issues likely to arise with the base or it's surroundings. While it was more his nature to run a pretty loose unit, he was well aware that his new posting was a fairly significant command, and he was one of the few Americans fortunate enough to hold such a position. His superiors weren't generally "casual" people in his experience, and acting as a lax officer who encouraged fraternization in front of half the operations staff wouldn't do him well here. A "public" tone would have to be set for his unit, unfortunate as it was.

"Corporal," he addressed Schultz in a sharp tone, his eyes not leaving the troopers, "You're to take these two and secure us some good quarters. Modest, but better than the barracks here, and nearby. I'll expect a stocked kitchen, basic communications equipment, and proper recreational gear. Get what you need from the stores here, or withdraw from petty cash. I'm sure we can offset the expense by having these slackers transport most of it without the truck." He dropped the edge from his voice slightly, then added "I expect written reports on the nearby drinking establishments as well."

Dismissing them, he turned back to Paul. "Staff Sergeant, I want you to audit the operations here. There's a fellow named Walter around somewhere who seems like he has a handle on things - get to know him, and if you trust him, work closely with him. See if there is any sort of statistical or predictive analysis group running. If there isn't, assemble one from whomever seems most promising. Have them start running through the on-site files, look for any discrepancies that seem to be regularly repeated or anything else that may be amiss with the police force here. Anything older than two months is kept off-site, but if you have permission to request access to whatever you may need from there.

After that, I want you to have them run through the general demographics and behavior data for the districts under our purview. Our goal will be to loosely categorize the area we are responsible for into one of three classifications - "safe", where we have never encountered issues and reasonably expect no trouble, "threatened",
where we have indications of dissent but no organized, violent resistance has occurred in the last two months or is expected int he near future, and "dangerous", where we believe there are Resistance operations currently underway, or where violence has occurred. Once this work has been completed, brief me on your findings and we'll commence our operations and resource allocation in depth.

Finally, I want you to personally check through the filing here and identify any activity linked specifically to communist or Soviet resistance activity. I cannot say what exactly you're looking for, except that I trust you'll know it when you see it should there be anything of note there. Report directly to me on this and do not involve the others. Jack paused for a moment, feeling as though he was missing some crucial instruction, but shook the thought from his head. "Let me know if any thing comes up that requires my assistance." he finished, dismissing Paul with another salute.

Looking around, he found himself a spare desk tucked into the corner, and began his own work - firstly, he checked over the personnel files given to him by Walter, starting with the behemoth which he suddenly remembered he had yet to inspect. Making a note to do so shortly, he read through the rest of the personnel data before moving on to the activities reports.

He cast a quick glance at the District 4 file, but quickly wrote it off as not yet worth his direct attention - the soldiers and plainclothes agents there seemed to be on top of things. Shuffling it to the edge of the desk, he turned his attention to the other reports, reading through the files on Mr. Bronson, as well as the current monitoring operations at the three locations Walter had mentioned.

By the time he had finished, it was late in the evening, and it seemed most of the other office workers had left for the day. Stretching, he stood from his chair, and decided to go meet the behemoth trooper while he tossed all the new information around in his head.

(Mrno let me know that his character agreed to be part of the resistance and told me to go ahead and update)
Resistance
"With that out of the way, welcome to the Resistance." The man stood and opened a door that led out of the room. Drifting out you came to a more open area with several people walking about or working. Whether they were checking weapons or listening to the radio signals everyone seemed to be doing something.

One man motioned you over and spoke in a heavy German accent "Hello! So I'm the quartermaster, as such I'm the man you get your equipment from." The man stopped for a second to look at the chamber of the pistol he was inspecting before continuing "Since you're new here all I've been allowed to give you are those MP40s, some spare magazines, and whatever equipment that's required for the job. Whenever you're here just come and find me if you need ammo or gear. By the way, it's nice to know I'm not the only German with a conscience."

With that the man turned and started stripping a rifle on his table. The Frenchman that had rescued you walked up and said "I see you've already met Edgar." He motioned to a man standing in front of a radio talking into a headset "That's the boss, go around, talk to whoever you want or just take some time. Whenever you're all ready he'll give you an assignment."

Pointing to a hallway he continued "That leads to the barracks, the training grounds, and the med ward." Motioning to another hallway on the other side of the room he said "And that leads to the 'hangar', as the men have taken to calling it, the workshop, and storage."

Walking away the man started talking to another Resistance member that had been cataloging several loose items in the room.

(so if you want to check around do so, you'll get more opportunities later but you'll find more characters to interact with which might prove useful)

Jack

Walking into the Vehicle Bay you saw the plethora of armored transports, jeeps, and your Behemoth trooper. Standing ten feet tall the combination of flesh and metal was standing on the far end of the Vehicle Bay. After you approached it didn't react for a few seconds before turning and speaking through the speakers built into the 'helmet' "Hello Captain Kennedy. It will be a pleasure serving under you."

Jack noted the machine gun attached to Wolfgang's right arm. The left had nothing attached to it but Jack could see that it was designed to have something attached to it as well. The armor plating that may as well have been his skin at this point was painted a dark grey and there were several spots that appeared to have once had decals painted onto them but since been worn off revealing the dull color of the metal itself.

(well I update once a day on pretty well all my RPs including this one. As a note I'm going to as much as I can actively update things like combat so that that stuff goes by a bit faster)

Resistance
Erica
You make your way to the training grounds and hear a handful of guns being fired before entering the room itself. The room was split into four areas, the shooting range were a handful of Resistance members were practicing shooting under the direction of a man whom was missing the lower half of his left leg. The second area was an obstacle course apparently designed to get the members used to traversing difficult terrain and working together to overcome obstacles. The third was a shooting course where members were learning how to maneuver appropriately in combat.

The fourth was an area designed for members to organize into two teams and simulate combat. Three men were walking on the rafters set up above the area monitoring the exercises. The weapons used here were not actual guns but designed to deliver projectiles that deliver enough of a sting to alert the individual that they've been hit.

A woman wearing a metal helmet and chest plate carrying a Thompson walked over to you and said "Hey! I've never seen you here before so I'm assuming you're new. I'm in charge here. I run this place pretty tight but so long as you don't break one of my guns I won't care how long you spend in here and if you need any help with anything just ask. Hell impress me and I might give you something from my personal collection. Oh I'm Shirley by the way."

Kat
The sounds of machinery greeted you before you entered the room. Several voices shouting to each other over the machines could be heard and you spotted the frame of what looked like an armored vehicle sitting in one of the 'bays' of the workshop where they apparently housed larger projects.

A large man wearing a leather apron walked to you and said "Welcome to the workshop. We primarily maintain the handful of vehicles the Resistance uses and develop concealable weapons, make armor, and do our best to produce counter weapons to what the Nazis have."

Another man shouted from one of the workbenches "HEY BOSS WE NEED SOME MORE PARTS!"

The man in front of you frowned and then said "As you can probably tell we can use whatever resources we can get. Tell you what if you can bring us some useful items, gears, springs, weapons parts, metal plating, anything we can use to do our work I'll see about getting you some better equipment. Oh, and if you should require me further I'm Charles."

"Okay Charles. If I find any of that I'll be sure to give it to ya."
Kat explores the workshop, checking out the projects at hand.

Erica
You walk to the obstacle course and a man shouts down at you from the rafters "HEY NEW BLOOD, YOU GONNA RUN THE OBSTACLE COURSE OR JUST STAND IN THE WAY?"

You could see several groups rushing through the course. Climbing over high walls and helping each other up otherwise unassailable terrain. There was a small pit in which they had made a simulated muddy and rocky terrain to one end of the area as well.

"DO YOU NOT HAVE A PARTNER ALREADY? I CAN GET YOU SOMEONE."

Kat
There was an armored car that they were canabilising for parts in one bay. In another you saw several men carefully working on a field gun. In a third you could see two men laying on the ground with anti tank rifles pointed at a behemoth that several others were slowly working on taking apart. In the final bay that was being used you could see a single man wearing a helmet decorated with a Russian star and singing a Russian song you couldn't understand. He was busy taking apart damaged weapons and either replacing parts or building new guns out of them.

((so since the two groups are seperated both by distance and time at this point I'm going to just update the two groups seperately. The groups being Kennedy and Resistance members))

Heinrich
Entering the room you could immediately see several people moving crates of weapons and gear around and onto shelves. And the vast room was spread out into numerous rows of shelves and further into the room you spotted areas where they stored things too large to go on the shelves.  A man turned to you as you entered and said "If you need anything come talk to me, if you're here because someone needs something talk to me, if you're here for the scenery you picked a terrible spot to look for beauty." Looking up from the book he was reading he shouted at one of the men carrying crates "Hey don't fucking put that there, it goes in B section for christ's sake!"

Erica
"WILLIAMS HELP THE LADY WILL YOU!" The man shouted.

Soon enough a man walked up beside you and the instructor gave the order to begin. The two of you run over the first few obstacles with ease and come to a highwall. The man boosted you up and you helped him up the wall. Rushing forward the two of you made it through most of the course before coming to a climbing obstacle. With minor difficulty and some help from Williams you make it up and over. From there the rest of the obstacle course went rather well.

As the two of you finished the instructor above you shouted down "THAT WAS FAIRLY IMPRESSIVE! NOT THE BEST I'VE EVER SEEN BUT PRETTY GOOD." From there he moved onto yelling at other groups to get moving.

Erica wipes the sweat off of her palm, then reaches out with her stump as if going for a handshake.   Realising her mistake, she quickly switches arms.   "Thanks for that.   Name's Erica.   I'm apparently a resistance member now.  What's up?"

Erica (at this point I'm gonna stop labelling shit...)

Shaking your hand he said "Williams. And Right now I was moving a few things around when the sarge asked me to help you out. Made better time than most people do as well." Handing you a coin the man smiled as he walked towards a box of crates "Shirley gives us these coins to give out, she might be willing to let you use some of her gear depending on how many you have and how convincing you are."

((it's been about a week. So gonna force an update for the Resistance folks. First though: After this if you don't post and haven't given me a legitimate reason in advance I'm going to just remove your character from the RP entirely. I'm going to be nice and give a grace period for the most part but I'm not going to let people grind things to a halt because they don't like down time and interacting with characters. If you want to just go around with combat encounters this is not the RP for that, most of mine aren't and those that are usually obviously state that. If this isn't your cup of tea fine, just let me know so I know that I don't have to wait for you. That's literally all I've asked is that people let me know if they can't post or lose interest. Instead people decide to just drop out in the middle of non combat stuff and the only reason I can think of is that it's just that, non combat.))

The three of you were guided into the briefing room some time later. A man stood at the end of the table in the room and motioned you over. "You three. New assignment for you. We know a convoy is going through this area, going to ambush it as it reaches this crossroad." The man motioned to a spot on the map "We have people there already, they need a few more hands. They have specialists equipped to take care of the convoy's protection, some old pieces of armor that were moved off of the Russian front. You'll be following a man named Oswald. Talented sniper, competent leader."

The man straightened himself and turned to one of the radio operators, speaking in French. turning back to you he said "Transport for you is waiting. Spare magazines are waiting for you in the truck so good luck."

Sometime later.

The back of the truck opened and you were quickly guided into a house. Awaiting inside were a handful of armed men covering their faces with cloth masks. One of them spoke "Welcome! I'm Oswald, the boss 'round here. You'll be with this group in this house. Pick a window and get ready uncle Fritz will be here soon. Once all the guards are dead we'll move in and get the supplies out of the truck. That about sums up the plan so keep your heads down."

Walking out the door the man rushed down the road to a different house. The men with you took positions as you waited.

((so basically for this just decide where you want to be, first floor, second floor, or attic for this first bit.))

Name: Alex Shoemaker
Gender: Male
Age: 26
Nationality: United States
Background: Alex was once a soldier for the USA army; he ended up where he is after he was abandoned by his unit while in an infiltration attempt in France before the D-Day invasion. Feeling betrayed and used for nothing more than cannon fodder he decided to join the cause of the French resistance. He primarily focused in smuggling goods and people between the sewer tunnels. He was caught one day smuggling “undesirables” and as such was labeled one himself. Not much is known about Alex’s previous life due to an obvious language barrier and the fact that he rarely talked about it since it reminded him of his perceived betrayal. What little is known is that he lived with his parents and join the army after he dropped out of collaged soon after he entered. He joined after he decided he wanted to make a name for himself instead of following in his father’s footsteps and becoming a simple tailor like many before him. He is not very skilled in anything but the basics of mechanics which he learned in college before choosing a major and hard labor which he had done while in captivity by the Germans.

(quick thing about how combat updates will work. I'm going to actively update as I can so once everyone in a combat has posted I'll update it save for the standard once a day post if someone in a combat doesn't post. If someone doesn't post for a couple days I'll just start skipping them.
ALSO: As a general rule tell me who you are attacking but don't just outright assume success or failure. I roll for every attack on a d20 to decide the outcome. Feel free to include details like where you try to hit them and like though.)

Resistance
It was some time later that the convoy started through your area. The men with each of you took aim but waited. The first shot rang out and hit the half-track in the front of the convoy and tore through it's engine. The men in the cab of the truck started shouting as they dismounted and you could see several men beginning to dismount from the rear of the vehicle. The sound of gunfire erupted from several of the houses on the street including the one that you were currently in.

The men from the convoy started spreading out and taking cover behind the vehicles. They fired back at the resistance fighters as they could and you could hear one shout "Wachen Sie den Behemoth auf! Eile!"

Several of the German soldiers fell as your compatriots found their mark. You knew their had to be more but you couldn't see them. The twenty you could see were a pressing enough matter to the men with you if their enthusiastic fire told you anything.

Total number of visible targets:20
Behind the Halftrack:4
Behind the truck: 6
10 are out in the open as they rush for cover.

Player participants: Erica, Alex, Heinrich, and Kat

Accustomed to combat on the tunnels Alex went for nearest target not behind cover. "Aim for the chest," he muttered remembering his former army training, "more vital organs to choose from!" He knew that the ones behind cover would make aiming time a problem but that's what the others were there for. "Don't let them get to cover!", Alex instructed, "Don't worry about the others yet, just avoid their fire!"

Alex
Firing into those running for cover Alex hit one in the chest sending him tumbling to the ground. A second followed shortly thereafter as his MP40's fire tore into them. A third was in his sights as he pulled the trigger.

The bullet flew through the air and found it's mark in the man's chest. Tearing through his flesh the bullet impacted a grenade hanging from his bandoleer. The resulting explosion tore the man's upper torso off and killed two more of his compatriots in a shower of shrapnel as the others continued running. (This is the result of a nat 20 by the way)

Erica
Taking careful aim the first round impacted it's target in the neck before the second flew out of the barrel. This too found it's mark in the chest of one of the german soldiers sending him tumbling to the ground. The following pair of shots missed and sent dirt spraying into the air near the German's rushing for cover.

Kat
Taking aim you fire a burst into the awaiting enemy. The first round takes a soldier to the ground as it ripped through him. The second found it's way into another German's chest as he fell to his knees followed shortly by the ground.  The third shot killed it's target as it arced through the air and into the side of his head.

Resistance
The resistance members with you opened fire and you saw the remainder of those out in the open fall as a hailstorm of bullets found their way towards them. The sound of several rifle shots from the down the road were followed by their targets behind the half track to fall dead to the ground.

The sound of an MG42 roared through the air as you saw one of the buildings your compatriots were in get raked by enemy fire. A loud and synthetic booming voice echoed through the air "DISSIDENTS! SURRENDER NOW AND YOU SHALL BE SENT TO THE WORK CAMPS! CONTINUE TO FIGHT AND BE EXTERMINATED!"

Visible Targets: 6 behind truck
Known targets: Behemoth Trooper

"Holy shit!!!" Alex exclaimed in disbelief as the explosion of the grenade took down 3 men. There were no other targets out of cover when it was said and done and before he could choose another target he heard the sound of the dreaded buzzsaw ripping through his allies so he chose to hide behind cover instinctively. He then heard the inhuman voice announce its ultimatum, chills went down his spine and if it wasn't for his experience in the german camp a simple tailor's son would have broken at this point.

He had heard while in the tunnels about secret projects the german were doing but they were nothing but rumor up until this point. Alex gripped his gun an made his choice, he went out of cover and fired in the direction the voice had come from, towards this behemoth. Only his head was out sticking out the cover of the wall and he fired his gun without aiming as a result. He just wanted to know what this thing could take.

((Heinrich is out permanently))

Alex fires into the Behemoth and watches as his rounds ping off the heavy metal armor of the monstrosity. Ducking back fully into the building Alex can almost feel it as the rounds from it's machine gun tear into the brick building he was in. As this occured he heard the distinct sounds of an anti tank rifle firing. The others in the building opened up with their weapons and eliminated the rest of the men behind the trucks before they could get a shot off.

One of the men with you shouted "OUT THE BACK BOYS! GONNA NEED COVERING FIRE IF I'M TO GET CLOSE ENOUGH WITH THIS ANTI TANK GRENADE!"

Alex followed the order without question; He was still in too much shock to question any motives or did he had the will to do so. “T…that thing…it almost killed me!”, Alex stuttered to himself. After a couple of seconds to compose he went to the one shouting orders, assuming he was now the guy in charge, and simply asked, “Where do you want me?”
