What do I do when A. Am 15, B. Live in St. Paul, MN, C. Have strict, unfun parents, D. Have little money, and E. Want a gun?

Oh, easy.

Step 1: Go out and use your meager funds to acquire some really nice clothing. Split any change you have left into as thick of a wad of singles as you can.

Step 2: Drive or get a ride to Chicago. It's only like 400 miles away, which is considered walking distance in Canada, so I'll leave the details of how you'll do this up to you.

Step 3: Make your way over to West Englewood. Specifically, you'll wanna end up outside of a place called the Sexty Sex, which is just off west 65th. Since you made it 400 miles without help, I'm pretty sure you can find your way there.

Step 4: Now, they probably won't let you in the bar, so what you're gonna wanna do is pace back and forth outside. If it's earlier than 11 PM, do this in front of the bar. Otherwise, there is a small alley next to it you should focus on pacing.

Step 5: Whenever a customer comes out, ask them if they know where you can score some gear. Every time you ask someone this, make sure to flash your giant roll of singles - the key is to do so non-chalantly, while still being incautious and quick enough that the person you are talking to can't really tell you only have $60.

Step 6: Someone with a gun will be along shortly.

I'm pretty sure the whole thing is a setup. Not only did the left not care that Obama was bombing Syria, the Russians didn't either. Combine that with the huge numbers of troops the rest of the world is pumping into Poland and around the black sea, and it kinda feels like something is up that has much less to do with Syria than would be immediately evident.

The other thing to consider is that there's UN-documented evidence of both sides using chemical weapons since 2013. This isn't new or even unreported.

Without getting too detailed, I'd suggest keeping an eye on Turkey and seeing what happens there.

Though I gotta say:

"OH NOES, GAS ATTACKS! TRUMP SHOULD DO SOMETHING!"

*Trump does something*

"WARMONGERING ASSHOLE! WHY WOULD HE BOMB SYRIA? NO ONE WANTED HIM TO DO ANYTHING!"

The left are fun people.

so after this post let's move this to the political discussion thing

as someone who initially was pissed about the attack I am much less so now that I've gotten more info. Initially why I was pissed about the attack was that it was presented as having done nothing.

In truth it looks like severe damage was done, though nothing that disallows the use of the airfield since the bombs neccessary to do that amount of damage are evidently only capable of being used from manned planes which we didn't want to risk. So something was actually accomplished, but most places are presenting it as nothing of value was done which is why I think a lot of people are pissed about it.

I personally would be more irate that he ran on a totally "let's not get further involved in our mess" platform, then changed his mind when Facebook told him to.

Realistically though, it didn't do anything of value. The huge majority of chemical attacks that have happened in Syria have been rocket based. Really, beyond the official statement that connects the airfield to the gas attack, we don't really have any evidence at all that it was launched from there.

Even if it had been, he killed about 7 people (which according to the media were either Russians, civilians, or actual terrorists), and at best, put a single airfield out of Syria's 21 public military airfields out of commission for a little while. Besides that, the shittiest plane (IMO) in the Syrian arsenal capable of ground attack is probably the Yak-130. It's got a range of something like 2000 KM. Given that Syria is about the size of the state of washington (albiet a different shape), a quick glance at google maps seems to indicate, using their scale system, that even a shitty trainer like the Yak can hit pretty much any target in the country with a few bombs strapped to it.

So yeah, the attack literally did nothing. Which I think would have been better accomplished by actually doing nothing.

Approved. Though IMO, the space station is likely the thing in this post that would need any approval, not the division itself.

I'll likely be back and the end of the month when the phone company is done putting in fibre optic and it's actually worth getting internet.

Huh. Guess I'm pretty well poised to be the LMP winner here. Hm.

In seriousness though, we really should not bother The Almighty Granola Bar. He's an ass, but two wrongs don't make a right and other sage sayings.

So, you guys think China might try to increase coal production or that they're more likely to try and import coal now that they've cut off Korea's supply?
Isn't china supposed to be a huge producer of solar power?
If this were true, people over their wouldn't all be wearing face masks to try and avoid having their lungs make contact with the incredibly toxic/caustic air. Seriously, a majority of the pollution here in the US/Canada drifts over from China, it's their leading export which they provide free of charge delivered via the jetstream and assorted ocean breezes.
It's only the last couple of years they made a big push towards solar, nowhere near enough to undo decades(or more) of heavy pollution though.
http://www.collective-evolution.com/2017/02/12/china-is-now-the-worlds-largest-producer-of-solar-power/
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solar_power_by_country#Global_deployment_figures

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_electricity_consumption

Assuming it's somewhat accurate, the disparity between China and the next country down on that list is more the problem with solar doing anything for them. In theory, they can produce like 4,000 MW more than Germany per year. Unfortunately they require 5,386,800,000 MW more power per year as well.

Nuclear or thorium solutions are the only thing that come to mind to really alleviate their coal dependency. As it turns out, the numbers indicate that despite their energy policies attempting to focus more on these types of things, China just doesn't have the proper technology for efficient nuclear generation just yet.

So for now, the Rand corp is probably right about how things will eventually look:

Probably a drop in the pond, really. China has some of the world's largest coal reserves, and is the world's largest coal producer. Compared to how much they import from other places (and considering they saw a 25% increase in imports over the course of 2016), I'm pretty sure how ever many tons they were pulling out of the peninsula is pretty irrelevant compared to to native production and imports from elsewhere.

Personally, I have a lot of trouble believing the "reduce our coal dependency by 50% by 2040" line China gives. Statements like this, no matter who's making them, always seem to assume energy requirements can be measured in a vacuum without regard for the effect things like population, technology, and so on. Pretty sure they'll be reliant on it due to the realities of their massive power requirements until something else that's equally cheap comes along.

I don't know how legit this is, but it's interesting.

A night of nights. Of accusations and comradery. Of vampires, werewolves, and other creatures of the night.

Thought a man stole my bells, apologized profusely for accusing him of stealing my bells when I noticed that they had simply slid down the door and out of sight.

A new night creature appears! The "Sleeping bag lady." She suddenly appearated in the doorway, carrying a pillow and clad in slippers, boxer shorts, a sweatshirt, and a sleeping bag. She fidgets and babbles uncontrollably. She bought a bunch of food, placed it on the table at the back and then bought a bunch more food. She threw things on the floor all over the place and then ate her food. A  lone traveler entered, seeking shelter from the heavy rain and sleet outside, and also to purchase cigarettes. THE SLEEPING BAG LADY STRIKES! She takes offense at his very presence in the building and decides to leave, before doing so though, she buys even more food and hurls insult at the innocent traveler. He asks her if she is alright, to which she flips her shit at him and vanishes into the morning darkness and driving storm.

The traveler and I pass some time discussing various things as he waits for his phone to charge enough so that he might pass a message to his friend for a ride home. He is stranded in town after being left behind by said friends. He talks about his kids and how he didn't get to spend any time with them this weekend, as his ex-wife had decided that he simply didn't need to see them, and decided not to tell him so. He introduces himself and thanks me profusely for allowing him to charge his phone, it's the least I can do after the sleeping bag lady spat her vitriol at him, and also the least I can do in exchange for his inadvertently driving her out, making it so I didn't have to throw her out later.

A man smelling strongly of smoke, and wearing the clothing you usually see adorning the paid rioters on the news, buys some cigarettes, refuses to leave his metal club outside. As long as he doesn't make trouble and his money and ID are good, I won't put up too much of a fuss about it.

A woman with a bag stuffed with charging cables of various type and length spends two hours in the store buying scratch tickets. Sometimes, she would leave for awhile and then come back to play some more.

Four people stuffed into a tiny car. All of them are covered in piercings and tattoos. Thought it was four men, it was actually 3 men and a woman with a half shaved head. They completely ignore the rest of the store in favor of the scratch machine, which they spend huge amounts of money on. They have nice knives, but the handles are all obnoxious in the extreme.

*slow clap*
