I guess it's just me liking challenging, semi-annoying games that nobody I know can stand.

Like CoP with M.I.S.E.R.Y. on. And finishing Fallout: Dust.  And then there's Dwarf Fortress, and ADOM, which is almost unplayable even by my standards. Like, holy shit.

I turned the item spawn factor in cataclysm down to 0.01, as with the standard spawn rate, everything is far too common. So in most of my games, I barely ever got vitamins.
DF and ADOM are very playable, once you know how. ADOM being much easier to learn than DF, But this is related to a tolerance for complexity.

Speaking of MISERY, 2.2 is in the works now, should be good.

Meh. I always horded vitamins anyway, so the nutrition system wouldn't bug me. It's really more just...meh. I guess it's that "former contributor" thing.

It's beautiful isn't it? Wait till you get the super grenade launcher.

Amusing, though it's a pain in the ass to tweak spawn settings so I get some variety in weapons and monsters without it just becoming absurd. And even then it seems you see ridiculous monsters way before you see ridiculous guns. o3o
Yeah, I turned off all the tier 4 enemies. The black imps are dumb. Actually I turned off most of the new enemies except the zombie variants, and turned off most of the weapons I never use, like the standard pistol. Did you try the hell on earth map pack for brutal doom? It's pretty cool.

I didn't mean DF was unplayable, I'm actually better at it than Cataclysm. I was referring to ADOM. Honestly, I just can't get into it as much as other Roguelikes.

Unreal World is one of my personal favorites. I got that one's mechanics pretty quick.

And woooo, 0.01 item spawn for life. I had a character who lived in one of those worlds for two years.

Been playing payday 2's skill revamp beta and my reaction as a technician player thus far is: I'M USEFUL! I'M FINALLY FUCKING USEFUL!

Autoshotgun makes the dark imps go from annoying as fuck to glass cannons, quite efficiently.

Speaking of which, I'm working on another Doom mod idea of late...

Yeah, ADOM is... ADOM is ADOM. I've gotten pretty far in it, but most of the time I don't. Speaking of roguelikes, I find it interesting that "Tales of Middle Earth" changed to "Tales of Maj'Eyal" at some point, and a friend of mine got pissed about it when I told him this neat fact about one of his favorite games.

UnReal World is great. I have found that large animals trapped in trap pits with no spikes in them will stay pretty much indefinitely trapped in the hole. I have begun referring to spike less trap pits as "meat holes."

50 monster spawn and 10 years of evolution plus PK's rebalancing mod are enough to threaten Marloss Man Reborn. I have almost died a few times, the Solar Roller has been completely wrecked like six times, and MMR is approaching 100,000 kills.

Hmm. Leave it to me to be out and about on the laptop, only to now realize that I borked up the upload of that Doom mod by not filling out the last bit of the info text file. >.>

I've always found it a lot harder to have less monsters and less items, for some reason. Sure, monster evolution can get pretty bad, but a halfway healthy character hopped up on Adderall with an entrenching tool and a Five-Seven if it gets really bad has always been enough for me to handle entire hordes.

When you fight three zombies a day and can't get anything out of cities anyways, can't find that Adderall or that Five-Seven or even that goddamn entrenching tool, when it's you and the skills you start with and the clothes you start with and a heavy stick or a makeshift crowbar living out a lonely existence with scarce resources and little to hunt, that's always harder for me. And a little more fulfilling. Though normal worlds with normal monster and item spawns can be fun too.

Damn you Forrest, you just reminded me of the fun times I had as a barbarian, in the wilderness, with item spawns turned to the minimum. Doing anything required getting a rock, and I couldn't get one until I smashed down a lab wall. This was back before boulders, as well as when lab walls could easily be smashed with 20-odd strength and a battle axe.

Yeah. I started off as a hobo, and with the item spawns so low withdrawal would be a death wish, so my existence basically became hunting down NPCs, talking with them to find out if they had any booze with them on the trading menu, then killing them in any way possible to secure another bottle of liquor.

Eventually, I found cannabis plants in a basement, and began growing it outside of my gas station base, supplemented with bone meal from passing animals, in order to trade with any other random NPCs for their alcohol. Finally got the resources to buy a double barreled pipe shotgun off a passerby, then spent the rest of my time securing ammo in any way possible.

Honestly, it's really made average Cata seem easy to me, which is probably why I can still play it when so many have abandoned it. I spent ten days looking for anything valuable enough to buy shotgun primers, hulls, and copper jewelry off NPCs in order to make twenty five freakin' rounds of makeshift shot.
