No, drunk piloting is best piloting.

I'm most comfortable playing Tactical, because DAKKA.
I think for the first game I'll end up playing Captain just to organize everything, unless someone else wants to try playing Captain first.

Once a few more people post here saying they'll join in then we can work out a time we're all available to play and probably start in some kind of Free For All or Team Deathmatch game so everyone can learn how it all works together, while getting to blow each other up.
