Double-post because fuck it. Posted here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/89427928/utterly%20raw.zip

* Goblins bumped up in size to human standards and given trapavoid, goblin civilization given access to steel.
* All full-on megabeasts given trapavoid, semi-megabeasts are still vulnerable to traps.
* Dragons given wings and flight, ye olde Random Dragon standard.
* Bronze colossi given a fun addition, namely ability to learn.
* Monsters from Adventurecraft ported over. They only use standard body materials though. However the gargoyles, mi-gos, and feral ogres are now able to learn.
* Attack triggers for all semi/megabeasts (except shoggoths) lowered.

* Eternal things are basically the Shai-Halud, a big-ass worm. Also uses the "two sets of ganglia" gimmick mi-gos use, but with far less body parts to confound dwarves.

The fort must be a desert now because of this.

I'll count that as two for desert (mine and Caconym's).

Spoiler (hover to show)

Well, that should be fun.

Suppose we'll wait a tick to see what Salt wants for start (I'm gonna assume he'll give this another go). How do you feel about deserts, RD?

Any other rules or theme we should apply here?

I think Salt had the right idea. I'd suggest we start by all taking one full year as a turn. After everyone has taken one, we shift over to the "keep it until a year goes by and/or someone asks for it" model.

Also, volunteers for first, or, bearing in mind I probably still suck at non-.40d, shall I give this a go this evening?

Desert's fine by me, yeah. No idea on suggested theme, though my experiences with desert forts tend to be "get an aquifer or you're fucked" o3o

And here I was thinking "no aquifer, race to the cavern".

Aquifer is probably much smarter and more interesting, but I have no idea how to breach one in new DF in the desert. Usually, I just self-drain them, or collapse them, but don't know if either work anymore. My only aquifer start since .40d was in one of my few 2010 games, and I started *beneath* it somehow. So that would be a problem for someone else.
Gone. Cheers guys.

If I recall, you can still use control cavein bombs to punch through one, but it's a bitch to implement if the aquifer is too deep.

Setup? Wait, hold on.

Spoiler (hover to show)
Go into "embark_profiles" and paste that in there. If you want. It's a very simple setup I use for rapid entrenchment. I've taken the liberty of removing the stepladder, charcoal, and chickens. The stepladder is useless in the desert, the charcoal is only useful if you embark with coal, and not everyone wants chickens.

Also, I do deserts all the time. Love those desert embarks. Glass is very easy to make and makes for decently effective traps. Max savagery too please, if you want.

As a side note, I thought dragons could already fly?

Nope. They don't even have wings. Unlike cave dragons, which do have wings yet also don't fly.

That looks good, though I may sub engraving for something else. Will have a OP up tonight (in this thread) barring disaster, or unless you wanna go first Salt.
Gone. Cheers guys.

Right on.

One more thing - if anyone feels up to collecting replies that I've missed in the OP, that would be cool. I'll update it to encompass our KK time, but it's much quicker and easier for me if I don't have to go looking for update posts.

Only if someone feels like it, in which case I'll do it tonight when I update for the new fort. Otherwise, it will happen eventually.

Also, just so everyone feels better about me starting the fort - what does a stepladder do, normally? Weird new dwarf shit.

You can use them in fruit gathering zones to reach taller branches without climbing, because dorfs are smol.

The stepladder allows dwarves to collect fruit from the branches of trees. It's part of the plant gathering labor. I took it out because deserts tend to not have many fruit bearing trees in them. Usually just saguaro and highwood. I don't think anyone but you can effect the OP. Except maybe a moderator.
