only the person who made the opening post or a moderator can change the opening post, which whilst I'd offer to change the OP if someone would gather the info and PM it to me I don't have admin/moderator privileges here.

Oh, I can change it. I just don't have a ton of time to look through 13 pages for the links right now. Though I'm thinking having everything stuck there is more something I care about than anyone else anyway. So really, I'm just being lazy.
Gone. Cheers guys.

I've lost home internet and am reminded why I don't like cellphones. So, disaster did happen apparently. Should be repaired next Thursday (ie I'll pay my internet bill), alternatively, I can try to steal an external drive from work, then try to upload it there in the next day or two. As a third alternative, someone else can go first. I kinda fucked the embark anyway. If someone does so, I'd strongly suggest avoiding an evil desert because they've been made pretty rough.
Gone. Cheers guys.

I'll do it tomorrow then. After going over what we wanted from the embark again.

Gone. Cheers guys.

Sorry about the delay. I spent all day running system diagnostics. My hard drive has begun the process of failing. I'm not sure how much longer until it's done for good. Maybe a year, maybe a week. We will see. In the meantime, I'll use it while I can. Lemme go take care of Salem stuff and then I'll do this.

edit: I guess I'll dorf madmen like we did with utterly bold.

Headache is subsiding now. I'll get these raws packed into a copy of DF and start here in a moment. Again, sorry about the delay. Apart from the revelation of my slowly dying laptop, I also went on a hunt for worms in Salem. Black friday event unveiled a special NPC stall that allowed you to trade items for items instead of silver for items. They put up a special stall that took worms in exchange for items that normally cost real money, or items that are ball shrivelingly tedious to produce. I got ahold of a "chefs pack" for 100 worms. That thing normally costs 20$ real money. A fucking steal for 100 worms.

If yer dorfing, I'll take a noble or a miner, please!
That can be arranged. Seeing as my setup makes it so that one of the miners starts out as the expedition leader... If a mayoral election occurs during my stay with the fort, I supposed I could fiddle the numbers at the ballot box...

And, uh, maybe dorf me as a militia commander. ._.
A bit trickier in that it gives you less control of your dorfs normal profession. I'll see if I can make it interesting.

Double post for reasons

I am now genning the world.
World size is small

History is short (125 years)

Number of Civs is high*

Max number of sites is low*

Number of beasts is very high

Savagery is very high

Mineral occurrence is sparse.

*-these settings like this, in my experience, raises the number of viable locations (by keeping them free of towns and such) while keep world population (and thus invasion forces) high.

Had to discard at least 30 or 40 otherwise good maps and a few absolutely shit ones, but I finally managed to gen a world that is almost entirely deserts and dark "human" forts. There's even a volcano in a desert on a peninsula beyond normal human territory, but I believe it is beyond goblin reach, and might be within reach of a tower. We will see when I begin embark. side note: gen time is very slow for some reason.
