Dwarf Fortress. Again. I noticed after retiring a fort that legends mode says that the dwarves of my fort "regained their senses after an initial period of questionable judgement."
I love the idea that the player is seen as an unseen senseless force by the legends mode, some kind of incompetent boob playing puppets with the lives of the dorfs.
It makes you wonder if what it says changes depending on how 'well' you played the fort, like retiring it once it gains enough wealth or becomes legendary to the dwarves.
Also I thought it was confirmed that we play as Armok, controlling people and adventurers at random for our amusement. I mean half the people I go up against in adventure mode makes my PC cry in fear.
I don't know about the Armok thing, but your theory about it changing depending on how well you ran the fort might be something. I recall this fort had an undead siege that wiped out all living things bringing my fort down to 3 dwarves (a fishery worker, a child, and a metal worker) from its once lofty 76 and then a second wave of undead which was crushed via the power of a giant ostrich cock, his sidekick honeybadger, and his retinue of terrified one humped camels.
I have since reclaimed the fort (I only retired it to look into legends mode) so that I might begin "The Ostrich Project." I have no idea what the project entails, all I know is that I have several ostriches stuffed into a single cage, and I need to do something productive with them. I believe the idea was to fully domesticate them, but I'm not sure.
On a related note, I'd like it to be known that I fucking love this game sometimes.
