It's indeed for bird hunting. And pumps are far superior for that because you can have a total of three at that point, as well as a much less expensive gun. Only disadvantage is a single choke, but I get the idea few people really understand how those work anyway.

Birds here generally being waterfowl. Might differ where you are, but here you can take as many rounds to chase grouse as you want.

It's actually good that tube is glued as the threads are easy to fuck (as is the actual mag tube) if you don't know what you're doing. What I find is much more frustrating is the way the foreend is attached. You have to replace the whole thing with one from a 500 just to get a flashlight rail on there.
