I dunno. Powder near the chamber & muzzle vs. powder literally everywhere including inside the lockwork. Also, being able to properly take the gun apart for cleaning without a screwdriver is kind of a plus.

Nagants are awful to shoot. And the cartridge is underpowered and most of the little features that Leon Nagant thought up to make it better weren't really all that important for a military sidearm. Honestly, they should've stuck with the S&W Model 3, .44 Russian's pretty alright when it comes to power, and inherently accurate, even if the Nagant's gas seal increases accuracy or whatever it was for.

I imagine you probably could 3d print one that would work just as well as the actual commercial product, which is not at all.

Well you can 3D print a gun anywhere, it's just not legal in a lot of places. 3D printed guns do work though but not when you're printing a piece of shit that never worked in the first place.
I have a hatred for Zip Guns because they got all hyped and then were a massive letdown.
