The Darkness of Dreams
« on: June 03, 2015, 02:20:05 am »
I remember the chill in the air as I awoke to find myself in the same stone floor I've started out on several times already. I've gone through this so many times that I've been able to control my body better and remember more as I awake. Indeed, I was dreaming yet it felt so real that you can almost forget. This time ,however, was different from my usual incursions into what could be described as a usually uneventful and strangely maddening experience. No, instead the usually mossy walls are smeared in a black substance that smells of rotten meat and was sticky when I approached and laid my hand upon it. It was at that point that I sensed the creature that hunted me.

I only caught a glimpse of it before it slithered past the entrance into this room, no doubt hunting. The beast stands at seven feet tall and appears to be made out of the same substance that coated the walls I had just investigated. It's body had no distinguishable form but constantly changed shape. It had several realistic eyes that covered its entire mass, constantly twitching and watching in every direction as it hunted. The creature is extremely hostile and even thinking about it is enough vomiting. Being caught would send me back into the Waking Realm where I'll have to use several tissues to wipe the blood from my nose and eyes as it causes damage to my mind.

Outside of this room is a maze of several long hallways, tight corners, and other empty rooms that hold nothing of value in them. If there is an exit, I have not yet found it for my ability at mazes is... less than optimal. I have no choice in the matter for every night I fall asleep, I will find myself here again and again. My only relief will be to discover why this darkness plagues me and to crush it with impunity for even in the waking realm I find no salvation. The shadow figures play games in my peripherals and the whispers in my ears speak in tongues that hold no value to me. In the waking realm I find no useful answers to explain what these beings are besides the usual conspiracies like "aliens" or "ghosts".

I have only myself to blame for these occurrences though for no other explanation exists. My delving into what lies beyond the value of our current scientific has plagued my dreams and whatever is left of my sanity will drive me to discover the meaning behind whatever I have uncovered. For now though I shall proceed through the stone maze that is my mind to find the exit for this is no other option besides the sweet embraces of death.

Tonight I have made progress in a much longer than usual delve into the maze before I was awoken by an outside force. A room I entered held material for the first time and I have found some interesting tidbits of information that I have been unable to discover while awake. The information was written in broken English and was hard to decipher amongst the strange symbols that accompanied the misspelled words but went into detail about an exit to the maze I have found myself lost into for quite some time. I was suspicious on why I was only finding this room now but I chalked it up to just passing it by on my several attempts of escape and captured by the beast that hunted this maze.

But suddenly, the horrific monster appeared behind me making its horrible sounds of slurping and screeching as it leapt toward me with all its black, oily mass; it's several human eyes spinning in all directions in their unblinking rage. I let out a gasp as I barely moved out of the way as it crashed into the table without a sound. The table disappeared within its body as two large and thick quivering masses appeared from its body and slowly moved its way towards me-

And that's all I remember up to that point.

But as I awoke with a jolt, I was not alone in my room. A pair of shadowmen were standing at the end of my bed, staring at me with their globes of white orbs for eyes watching as I yelled for someone to help. Instead they simply stood there as if they were searching into my very soul.

There is probably no more terrible instance of enlightenment than the one in which you discover your father is a man — with human flesh.
