1940: The New War
« on: August 23, 2015, 03:44:40 am »
Alternate history, blah blah blah, werewolves and stuff, world building for an RP I'm thinking of making.
------
1940 September 1st
German officers surrender to allied soldiers en-masse. Majority of German soldiers report seeing ‘monsters’ that tore their comrades to shreds and ate them. Reports were disregarded and allied soldiers moved into formerly German occupied territory. Soldiers cycled from the frontlines back to home reported monsters that ate those that they killed, while some Germans refuse to surrender.
Reports of German soldiers defecting and fighting alongside allied soldiers have grown too numerous to disregard and officials have been sent to investigate and should radio in their reports within the month. Until then orders have gone out that any defecting Germans are to be detained.
1940 October 3rd
We have received no word from the officers sent to investigate and orders to detain defecting enemy soldiers have been completely disregarded. Battalion 503 has been sent to investigate and enforce.
1940 October 20th
Battalion 503 has sent back reports of monsters attacking both Germans and Allied soldiers and that the two sides have parlayed with each other to deal with the threat that these ‘beasts’ represent. Addition resources have been dispatched and discussion about how to deal with this new threat is under way, and photos have been supplied. Evidence suggest these ‘creatures’ to be similar to the mythical werewolves.
Excerpt from the diary of Johnathan Moriarty James
It was my second day on the front and I was already splitting bread with German soldiers. We did not understand each other very well but we knew each other by sight at this point. One of the German soldiers had learned to pronounce my name and we had shown each other pictures of our kids, laughed together, eaten together. I didn’t know what was waiting.
It was that evening, while a big group of us were eating together that we heard one of the heavy machine guns start firing. We all grabbed our weapons and ran towards the jeep mounted gun and started scanning for targets. We spotted one of the beasts and started firing our rifles at the damned thing. We watched as a pile of lead bullets fell to the ground at it’s feet and heard the machine gun cease firing as it ran out of ammo.
One of the men yelled something I didn’t understand but I knew it meant ‘run’. We all turned and started booking it for the nearby hotel. I was the first through the door and took position beside it. Once the last one was in I shut the door and closed the makeshift bar we had set up.
I motioned for one of the men to man a machine gun we had set up and one of the men reluctantly took it. It probably wouldn’t do anything but it might, and at this point a ‘might’ was better then nothing. I saw the German soldiers have a short conversation before Wilhelm pulled a silver knife from his belt and stood near the door. He looked at me and gave me a small, sad smile that he might have given a wounded comrade. I didn’t know what was happening but the man on the machine gun nodded to Wilhelm and waited.
The beast smashed into the door and the bar splintered. The second strike broke the door in and the beast rushed in. The machine gun fired a quick burst that stunned the beast and Wilhelm stepped up and stabbed it in the chest. The blade pierced the beast’s skin and it howled in pain.
I just stared for a second as Wilhelm pulled the blade out and stabbed it in the chest two more times before the beast knocked him into the wall. The machine gun opened up and tore the beast to pieces as it emptied it’s entire ammo box into it. The beast’s body fell the ground as I rushed over to check on Wilhelm.
He died on contact with the wall, broke most of his back and cracked his skull open. But hopefully I knew what we could use to kill these things. I picked up the silver dagger and tucked it into my belt.
Everyone nodded to me, as if to say they were going to follow me.
But of course where there are one kind of beast there is bound to be more.
