[[been a while since the last Syndicate piece hasn't it?]]

Burns watched the men pop his cell open before standing. "Time to go Burns." Their leader said.
"Not without my friends." Burns said, standing there.
"Damnit I don't have time for this! You are coming with us now!" The man said.
"And I told you my condition. You must know my background, you know I can probably knock you and your friends unconcious before you'll be able to shoot me or knock me unconcious."
The man stared at Burns for a second, the truth of his statement sinking in. "Fine damnit let's move!"
--ten minutes later--
"Alright Burns, now you and your boys follow us."
Burns nodded and he and his friends followed the four armed men back out the hole in the building and into the awaiting truck that was their escape vehicle. The twelve of them clambered into the back as the truck started driving down the road and picking up speed. The six armed men started checking their gear and dissasembling the guns, packing them for destruction.
Burns looked at his friends and said "So, who are you guys betting on? Who do you think broke us out?"

[[sorry its short, but I felt I needed to finish the break out in it's own little post rather then continue past it in the same one.]]

"Yo, Manny! I got your dough for you!" The man said as he walked up to the private table in the club. "That product you been giving me is selling fast. I'm gonna need more of it tomorrow!" The man said, handing Manny a roll of cash.
Manny smiled as he accepted the roll of cash and handed it to his associate. "Of course. I told you I only distribute the highest quality product." Manny said, continuing to smile as his associate counted the money and nodded to him.
"So how much more do you need?"
"As much as you can give me man, like I said this stuff goes fast!" The man said, sitting down across from Manny.
"I'll see what I can do. I'll contact you when I've got the numbers." Manny said, pulling out a cigarette.
Realizing he had been dismissed the man stood and walked away...which is when Manny heard a gunshot in the club. He motioned for his two men to go take care of it while he ran to his office. He heard several more gunshots, getting closer as whoever it was dispatched his guards. "Shit, who would come in here and start shooting my club up!" Manny said, grabbing his pistol from his desk.
A man kicked the door to his office down and tackled Manny to the ground before he could take aim. The man threw Manny's gun across the room as two more men entered the room with pistols at the ready. The one on top of Manny stood and hauled Manny to his knees.
The man who was now standing over Manny spoke "Why did you do it Manny? Why? We were initiated together! I heard the rules right beside you!" The man said, and Manny recognized Burns voice.
"Rule two: NO DRUGS! The Chairman made it clear, we don't sell drugs. Then you went and broke rule one, don't fuck with the cops. Manny why the fuck did you do it?"
Manny looked up at Burns "I needed the money Burns. My sister was dieing, and I wasn't getting enough cash by being a grunt."
Burns looked down at him, an odd sadness Manny had never seen in Burn's eyes was present. "Manny, you just had to ask, you know the Chairman would have taken care of your sisters meds, her bills, whatever you needed man." Burns said, taking a couple steps away "Manny, the chairman wants your fucking head. He wants you dead."
Manny looked down at the ground "Burns, you know me. You know I couldn't ask that, of anyone. I guess what you used to say came true, my pride has finally killed me."
Burns didn't respond for a second, and the words hung in the air as the four men in the room stood still. Burns finally motioned for the other two to leave, and they did. "Get up Manny."
Manny stood, looking at Burns. "What now?"
"I can't kill you Manny. Not after what we've been through."
Manny sighed "You have to. The chairman would kill you if he knew you willfully disobeyed him."
"Manny, I just can't, okay? Your a brother to me." Burns said, tossing his pistol away.
Manny walked over to the spot the pistol landed, unseen by Burns who had turned away. "Burns, I'm sorry. But I'm not taking you with me." Manny said, picking up the pistol and putting the barrel under his chin. "Tell my sister I love her."
The gun went off, and Manny's body fell backwards as Burns turned screaming. He ran over and knelt down next to Manny as the other two men rushed into the room. They stopped a few steps into the room, looked at eachother, and then stepped out. Burns heard one of them say "Leave him to grieve for a few minutes. no one is going to report this to the police for a few hours."
Burns knelt next to the body, crying for a half hour before finally rising and taking his gun. He walked out, and another man walked in. As they had been instructed the man dipped a paintbrush in the fresh blood and painted 'Dishonor the syndicate, and die.' on the wall.
Once he was done he walked out of the room, and Burns and his three compatriots walked out of the club. Burns tossed a card on the ground that read 'May the holy have mercy' near the door.
The four of them got into the van and closed the doors. Rico looked at Burns "I'm sorry man."
Burns sighed, pulling his bandana off and tossing it to the floor of the van. "He killed himself to protect me Rico. He was a brother, we were initiated together, and now he's dead."

it doesn't. when you see guys like Burns walking around who wear bandana's bearing the mark of their Syndicate you don't report it, if your smart that is.
The Syndicate is prominent, and even though they have a rule against killing cops they have no qualms killing someone who reports them to the police. combine that with moles in the police department, an intelligence network, and a virtual army of guys ready to go to jail at the Chairman's word, and they've pretty well intimidated the majority of the people in the city.
The Syndicate has a couple of very obvious insignias they use, though these are usually reserved for the grunts and footsoldiers of the Syndicate, a way to advertise who they are. It's also helped reduce the number of friendly fire incidents the Syndicate has run into.

Essentially, you see a guy wearing something with one of these emblems, you don't report them for a few hours.

a few reasons
One: They are, just nothing on a large scale. Sting operations, busts, and taking down who they can. However the foot soldiers almost always take the fall, giving false confessions, so the major players almost always walk, and even then they get out of jail relatively quickly (Governor pardons often being used to get them out)
Two: They've essentially bought several people in the government. This generally keeps them out of larger scale trouble
Three: They don't want to kill the higher ups. These guys have enough knowledge that if the government can get them to talk the government will suddenly have a huge amount of information about criminal dealings in the larger criminal organizations, as well as give the government knowledge of a large number of weapons dealers.

And a few other things.
Essentially, they've bought government officials, they've got a large amount of resources to help keep them out of trouble. the government is trying to deal with them, but they have trouble actually pinning anything on major players. And the Syndicate has a HUGE number of foot soldiers who would gladly take the fall for the higher ups.

So basically they cant do anything legally and they've bought out the officials. Too bad the government doesn't have it's own mercs.

Burns walked towards the door of the Chairman's estate. Bastard broke me out to kill my friend he thought as he approached the door.
-----14 years ago----
Burns was seventeen and out on the streets, though at this point in his life he was called Mike. Manny was walking next to him, smiling and laughing. "Mike, we're gonna be initiated tonight, aren't you excited?"
"Of course I am Manny, but I'm nervous as all hell." Mike said, walking along.
"Come on, we've been working our asses off for the past year to get this far, let's celebrate." Manny said.
Before Mike could reply Manny suddenly tackled him to the ground as they heard gunshots followed by a car accelerating. Manny rolled off of Mike and stood up. "Shit man, those gangs are starting to get ballsy."
Mike stood up and said "Yeah. Thanks man."
Manny smiled and jokingly punched Mike in the shoulder. "I told you Mike, I'd give my life for you. We're brothers in my eyes."
Mike smiled and the two continued on their way.
---two years later---
Mike and Manny both walked down the street, wearing hoodies that bore the insignia of the Syndicate, and bullet proof vests under them. Mike motioned for Manny to stand at the door to the building and walked up. "Don't worry, this guy ain't gonna be walking out of here."
Mike walked into the building and up to the apartment that was his destination. Without a word he bashed the door in and pulled out his pistol. "Shouldn't of hit Manny's sister, cause now I'm sending you straight to hell you bastard!" Mike yelled as he walked into the apartment. He made his way to the bedroom and spotted the guy digging through a foot locker. Without a word Mike lined up his shot and fired, the bullet breaking through the man's skull and spraying blood onto the wall. "May the holy have mercy on you." Mike said before walking out.
When he reached the door Manny looked at him, and Mike said "I shot him. He's dead, so tell your sister he ain't gonna be trying any more shit."
Manny nodded and the two started down the road. Mike said "Remember when we were kids, and we didn't know what was going on when our dads got together with 'the guys'?"
Manny nodded, looking around and said "Yeah. I still don't know how we didn't realize what they were doing."
Mike said "They told us to stick together, and watch each others backs. I still remember the day we said we would die for each other man."
Manny smiled "And we meant it. Mike, if it came down to it, I'd give my life to make sure you lived."
Mike nodded, looking at Manny "It ain't gonna come down to that Manny, not if I got a say in it."
"You never know Mike."
----present----
Burns walked through the door and looked at the guards. As always they motioned him on, not even bothering to check him for weapons. He walked up to the Chairman's room and walked through the door way. "He's dead, now tell me why you sent me after a man I considered a brother."
The Chairman looked at him "Because he broke our rules, broke his oath. It's that simple. As far as why you specifically, well you were the only man I trusted for the job."
Burns looked at him, waiting. The Chairman continued after a moment "Now, I suggest you lay low. I'll have your 'situation' taken care of soon enough."
Burns nodded and walked out of the room.

Burns sat on the coach and stared at the TV. He had been there for almost three hours now, just staring at the TV for no particular reason. Probably because he head nothing else to do.
So during the past year he had done what he'd done for years as an enforcer. Then he shot up a wedding, spent a few months in jail, and then had his best friend commit suicide to protect him. All in all a shi*tty year.
With a sigh Burns stood up and picked his pistol up off of the table. As he walked towards the door he tucked the pistol into his pants and picked his shirt up over it. He walked through the door and pulled a cigarette out of his pocket along with the lighter. After he lit the cigarette he tossed the lighter into a pool of gas in the room.
As he walked to the sidewalk and down the street the house caught on fire. No traces left, a new ID, and a set of keys to his new place. Burns sighed again as he walked and looked up at the sky. "Start of a new chapter, let's see whats coming my way."
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Okay, so this is the end of the first 'chapter' of the Syndicate. For now this is where I will leave off, as I've got other ideas I want to try. If you've got any questions I'll try and answer them.

Sam and Mike ran through the streets, dodging cars and bikes as they rushed to get to their destination. Behind them a Globe Sec observer was chasing after them as it flew over the cars and other traffic.  They were runners, and they had just gotten caught.
Sam leaped over a low rider and rolled onto the sidewalk, with Mike right behind him. "Move it Mike!" He shouted.
Mike just kept running, looking at his watch for a second and then motioning to go left. The next opening between the buildings the two ducked into the alley and booked it for a door. Mike burst through it first with Sam right behind him. The two stopped for a second and Sam tossed his bag to Mike "Get it to drop off, I'll distract Globe Sec."
Mike looked at him and said "You crazy? If they catch you you're dead!"
Sam looked at him over his shoulder as he walked back to the door they had entered through "Freedom or death Mike, I told you that was the choice when you got into this. If those don't get delivered then Globe Sec wins."
Sam walked out the door before Mike could reply, and started running as fast as he could. The Observer followed him as he took off down the street and he could now hear the sirens of a Persecutor. He knew the risks when he got into this so he didn't stop when he saw it drive over and crush a car that had been sitting on the corner of the street.
Instead he leaped over the hood of the vehicle and kept running. The Observer zoomed past the Persecutor, and the two kept following Sam. He knew the operators inside the Persecutor were calling in to receive free fire permission, so at most he had three minutes.
He turned and ran into a park across the street and ran through it, the two Globe Sec vehicles following him. He heard the motors in the turret of the Persecutor activate as the operators started the targeting process.
With a sigh he reached into his coat and pulled out an old 'pineapple' and pulled the pin. After a second he turned and tossed it through the window of the speeding vehicle and then ducked to the right to dodge it. As the Persecutor sped past it exploded, sending Sam flying into a building.
Sam hit the building and felt a couple of his ribs break, along with a few other bones. He knew he wasn't going to make it out of this so he pulled out his pistol and aimed at the Observer. Before he could fire the secondary Operator, whom had already opened the door of the small aircraft and leaned out, shot him twice in the chest.
---mean while----
Mike walked through the door to the drop off and tossed the man there the bags. Mike said "Okay, there's the bags."
"Where's Sam?" the man asked, checking the bags.
"He took the heat." Mike said, and the man stopped. They both knew what that meant.
"Damn, sorry kid. If it's any consolation you've just garunteed the success of one of our field teams." the man said, picking the bags up having been satisfied with what was in them.
"Sure, whatever. I'm going to go get a drink."

The Brothers Muerte and Vida
--------------------------------------
Muerte walked into the room in his tank top and jeans and walked over to the couch. As he sat down Vida shook his head and watched as Muerte pulled on his black combat style boots. Muerte looked at Vida for a second before reaching over and picking up the gun on the coffee table.
"So, our friend, he has the sentencia de muerte?" Muerte asked as he put the pistol in his hip holster.
Vida nodded and said "Sentencia de muerte. Payment of ten thousand upon receiving proof."
Muerte nodded, and stood up. On his way out the door he picked up an assault rifle off the rack near the door. It paid to have a gun nearby when you took lives for a living.
Vida was right behind him, and slid over the hood of the car to the passenger side. Muerte started the car as Vida got in and put his seatbelt on. "You know, for a guy who's a hired Asesino you're pretty safety conscious."
Vida looked over at him and pulled on his mask. "Hey, better Vida then Muerte."
The two burst out laughing, and Muerte punched Vida on the shoulder. "Still using that joke amigo?"
Vida smiled under his mask "Why change what's not broke?"
Muerte smiled and hit the gas. It wouldn't be too long until they reached their destination.
-----3 hours later------
Muerte pulled the grenade out of his glove box as the two got out of the car. Works better then a pistol he thought as the two walked towards the mansion. "So this is what witness protection gets you? Eh, I've seen better. Now let's make some pesos."
Muerte pulled the pin and threw the grenade like a baseball through the window next to the front door.
--inside--
The officer inside watched as the grenade flew through the window and bounced off the wall. As it hit the ground and rolled he spotted the smiley face painted on the side of the grenade and the words 'Toque de agonia'. That's when it exploded and the world suddenly turned black. after a second he spotted a man in the mists carrying a scythe
--outside--
Muerte kicked the door open and lifted his rifle to shoot. An officer stepped out from behind a pillar and took a bullet to the neck. "What the fuck? This isn't witness protection!" Muerte said as Vida took out another cop with his pistol.
Muerte took down another two cops before moving into the main room. It was nice, but he prefered his living room where there was always a gun nearby. Vida motioned to the stairs and the two moved to the next floor.
Two cops stepped out of cover and shot Muerte in the chest several times, causing him to fall back onto the ground. Vida took them out with his pistol before reaching down and pulling Muerte up onto his feet. "Damn. At least they always forget about my vest."
"You good brother?" Vida asked, sounding concerned.
"Still in la flor de la vida brother." Muerte asked, retrieving his rifle "Target should be in the next room."
The two walked over to the singular door and took cover on either side of it. Muerte moved and kicked the door open with Vida covering him. They saw the target sitting in a chair and smoking. He didn't even look up to see the men that were going to kill him. Vida lowered his gun and looked at Muerte. Muerte looked at him, and then Vida walked off to leave his brother to handle this. "You want to finish that cigarette or just get this over with?"
The man tossed the cigarette and looked at him. "Seriously, you want anything? I mean I'll still kill you, but I try to be nice to the cooperative ones."
The man sighed and motioned to a drawer. "There's a letter in there. Please just put it in the mail."
Muerte pulled out his pistol and sighed, he hated killing the cooperative ones. He lifted the pistol and made a clean kill. He pulled out his camera and took the photos for proof, then retrieved the man's letter.
As he walked down the stairs he nodded at Vida. "Proof of death." He said as he handed the camera to Vida.
---------------------------AUTHORS NOTES-----------------------------------------------
Okay, so a few things here
So to our Spanish speaking members, I hope I did not use anything offensive or such. I looked up Spanish translations for Death and Life, and used words and phrases I found on eudict. If I used something offensive please tell me so I can replace it, probably with english as it's my native language.
On to why I used Spanish. I'm trying expand what I can use for writing, and I plan on actually learning some new languages(well new to me...) so I can better use them. For this story I got some character ideas, edited them, looked up some info, and then made the final characters of Vida and Muerte(Life and Death respectively according to eudict). I think using other languages could be a useful thing in writing and I'll probably continue to experiment in using it, though probably in a different manner.

There was no redemption for him, not after what he did. That didn't stop him from running, the pistol still smoking in his hand as he ducked into an alley. He knew what was going to happen, he just hoped he'd have a little time before it happened.
--2 days later--
He had managed to lay low for a couple of days at a friends house, one who thankfully didn't know what he had done. He was alone in the house while his friend was at work, so he looked at the pistol in his hand and thought about what he could do. Go to the police, but they'd throw him under the bus for what he did, or he could go back to his boss, but then he'd end up dead much faster.
He suddenly heard two car doors slam in the drive way and looked out the window to see two men in trench coats walk up to the door. Before he could react they kicked the door down and headed straight for him. He dropped the gun as the two walked over to him, tommy guns ready, and one of them knocked him unconscious with a stock strike.
--2 hours later--
He was pulled out of the back of the car and one of the two led him to the edge of a pit. He looked around to see a cement mixer waiting and several construction workers standing around, pretending not to notice the trio. As he reached the edge he was forced to his knees.
"Should'a known better Monty. Shouldn'ta killed a cop. Cop killers don't live long Monty, and you knew it."
Monty  sighed as he looked down at the pit. "You know if we don't do this then the cops'll come after the rest of us, and we can't have that Monty. If we get rid o' you then we're in the clear."
Monty looked over his should and said "Get it over with you two."
"Have it your way Monty." One of the two trench coats said, lifting his pistol. Monty's last memory was the sound of a gun shot.

I was just chilling out at my apartment and watching some TV. I got up to get a drink from the fridge when the phone rang. With a sigh I got up and wondered who it was, couldn't be work since it was the weekend.
I picked up and said "Yo, who's this?"
"Hey Johnny, it's Carl, I was wonderin' if you'd like to come to the casino with me?"
I checked his watch, noting it was one PM and said "yeah sure, I could go for some fun right now."
"Sweet, meet you at your place, we'll go there in my car." Carl said and hung up before I could say anything.
I shrugged and went to my closet. I changed to a white tank top, blue jeans, and brown work boots, my usual attire when I left the house. I then walked to my bathroom, gave myself a quick shave and then put on deoderant.
After that I walked back into my kitchen and pulled out a soda to drink while I waited for my buddy. True to form I heard his car horn and I walked outside. He smiled and waved me into his car.
The two of us chatted about sports, our dock jobs, and then about the weather. It was thirty minutes later and we were already sitting at a table gambling.

and yall probably thought I wrote something somewhat happy didn't you?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I was up a couple hundred and was having fun at the table when I spotted three men walk through the door wearing masks and carrying guns. I didn't know what kind of place Carl had taken me to but I had figured it wasn't exactly legal, and my suspicion was confirmed when one of the men said "Vinny told you this block is his turf you dumb fucks!" and started shooting.
The last thing I remembered from that night was a shot through my chest that sent me backwards out of the chair.
----
I woke up several hours later to find myself tied to a chair and a man in a white suit sitting in front of me. What was the most unnerving about the situation was the simple fact the man did not have a face, it was just a white area where it should be. In fact, everything on him and about him was pure white.
before I could say anything the man said "Let's get to the point, your dead."
I looked at him and said "You think? I got shot in the chest."
The man looked at me, how I could tell I don't know, and said "Yes, but I'm offering you a chance to live again, and get revenge on the men who killed you."
"What exactly would this require me to do?"
The man sighed and said "Simple, you'll take care of some very notorious criminals in your city, and in return we'll bring you back to life."
I smiled and said "Guess I don't have much of a choice."
