[] Your ancestors immigrated over to America shortly after their fight for Independence, with your ancestors helping rebuild the newly born nation. Creating factories, textiles, and being a major player in its "urbanization" out in the east. Your grandparents were the ones whom moved your family out west during the Lewis and Clark expeditions seeing it as an opportunity to claim the land out there before anyone else. Forging a strong friendship with a few other explorers and neighboring tribes.
-Benefits: You start with a few more valuable trinkets, deep rooted history in the starting town of "Lockjaw", and already have an alliance with the Native Indians faction. You get a wagon and oxen from your grandparents traveling days.

[] Your ancestors came from a long line of plantation owners and slave traders. Creating a vast infrastructure out in the east, and being one of the "mains" who kept the slave trade in business. You own a several large plantations out to the east, receiving funds every now and again from your main hub, by the way of boat or snail mail. Your grandparents made so much, and had so much man power. That they were able to fund a large wagon train for them and other entrepreneurs to settle out in the far west, where they had plans to found their own country.
-Benefits: You start on a plantation instead of a ranch, you receive a "servant" named 'Winston', you get large sums of money sometimes when you visit a large population center that has a post office. "Lockjaw" is a famous plantation town, where the streets are paved, they have an organized police force, and with a huge downtown area where you can find anything.

[] Your family comes from a long line of traders, merchants, and businessmen. Being the owners of a large textile factory out in the east, your family name has been known to carry weight. As you've employed the most people in New York City, than anywhere else out in the globe; most of those employees however are and were children. Wanting to escape from their inherited past, your grandparents ran away to the west, taking a large sum out of the family vault and changing their names. Settling down with a few other pioneers that they met in their travels. They eventually settled down and formed the settlement of "Lockjaw", remaining there ever since.
-Benefits: You receive a large sum of money at the start of the game, you've been educated in any business skills (of my choosing) by your grandparents, and you receive your grandparents suits and dresses.
