You sigh and decide to tell the King the truth. "Sire, there is something I think you should know. If someone is manipulating the power of the Great Forest, there will be dire consequences. Whatever they are doing, it will not go the way they desire it to. They are tampering with something that even the necromancers agreed was too powerful for them to manipulate. Not only could it cause great damage, but it could release the ancient beast that was imprisoned in the Great Forest long ago. If they continue to manipulate it, then the bonds holding the beast will weaken and it will be able to break them."
The King closed his eyes and considered it for a few minutes, the words that you had just spoken hanging in the air. Finally he speaks and says "So, this matter must be resolved immediately lest great damage is done. I am afraid I must send you to take care of this, as none of my men know magic or intricacies. No, this will require a magi's hands and expertise to deal with."
You nod and say "I understand, I will gather what I require from my quarters and I will leave to handle the matter."
With that you take your leave, with the King bidding you farewell and good luck. You head to your quarters and take your spell book, a simple dagger, and your bag of supplies that you always kept ready. As you go to leave one of the soldiers leans against the doorway and asks "Daga, my friend, I heard you being assigned this mission. I'd like to offer you my aide, if you will take it?"
You recognize the capable Johnathan in his metal armor. You remember how quickly he rose in rank and proved himself one of the most skilled swordsmen you had ever met.
Do you accept his offer?
