You turn around, and head on back to the surface exit.

You're about to leave the the stairwell, before you make a sudden stop at the door.
A golem strides by the exit, chasing some kind of hovering sphere.

"That... was something I didn't want to run into again..." carl whispers.

But in a moment, the golem is gone in the distance, chasing that object.
