#This is Warwolf, we are ready to deploy.#

After they are lifted off, Duncan will help Pvt. Moore with any questions she has with her new role in the crew.
There is probably no more terrible instance of enlightenment than the one in which you discover your father is a man — with human flesh.

"Oh shit..." Lucas mumbles, he rips off his dogtags and looks at them for a moment before tossing them to the side. He looks at the cowering family and says, "You need to leave, right now. They're burning the huts." and leaves, he grabs the CO's shotgun and leaves. He thinks if he has any sort of tracker on him, maybe in his tooth or some-shit.

Smaher:
You scrub the system, reboot, and reconfigure it from default.

Soon, the system is back under Uniware control. The still functioning sensors and cameras begin scanning the surrounding area anew.
You see on the screens that the battle at the approach has concluded, and the teams are moving over to the tower.
Using the cameras, you can see your squdleader among the teams, looking a bit roughed up. Still alive though.

The heavies seem to remain on the top level, watching the horizon.

Wolf:
James moves the walker out on the yard, and the H-VTOL comes in from above. It's not using cable to carry the walker, but instead lands on it, and grabs on. This makes it possible to move around without belts in the walker.
Within a minute you're airborn, and on the way south-eastwards.

While airborn, you turn your attention to your new engineer; Moore, mounting the turret on the bottom of the hull. The seat is minimal, which is good considering she's wearing heavy armor.
"I get that I'll carry out repairs in the field, but what do I do when there's nothing in need of repairs? Just point and shoot with this thing?"
She pulls the handle of the turret, and it turns slightly to the right, suprising Moore.

Lucas:
You toss your dismissed dogtags to the ground on the hut, and tell the hounds to get out. Unsuprisingly they don't understand english, but you manage to pass on the message with gestures, and the family scamble out of a hole in the back of the hut. They leave you with the corpse of your former CO.
You grab his shotgun, and check for any possible tracker on you. There's no physical tracker that you can find, and you're quite sure there's nothing inside you.
So unless you're willing to cut yourself open and double check, you could call yourself clean.

As you're about to leave, the radio of your dead CO comes to life.
#Sir, we're facing resistance here at the center! Orders?!#

You leave the hut, into the burning village. Around you are burning huts, and dead hounds. Most of them are charred, the others are shot. It's pretty quiet, if you don't take in the distant gunfire, so the village has most likely been cleaned soon.
There's gunfire maybe 100 meters away from you. By the sounds of it, both Uniware guns, and hound guns.
There's paths to both the center of the village, and out of the village into the jungle. Both paths are quiet and cleared.
I regret nothing.

Hettie heads back down to the base of the tower, and waits for either a transport back to HQ, or someone to give her another task.

Lucas decides to grab whatever ammo the CO has on him for his shotgun along with the CO's radio. He heads out and to the path leading into the jungle.

Smasher:
You head on outside, and find the others gathered around. Your squadleader steps up on the wrecked VTOL, and speaks to the teams.
"Well done people! The observation tower is back under conpany control!"
The soldiers cheer a bit.
"But I hope you like this tower, cause we've got orders to hold it until relived!"
The crowd seems a bit less enthusiastic.
"I can't give you guys the details, but the colonel needs us ready, and the tower operating! Dig in and get comfortable!"

The teams spread out across the yard, and some move out past the palisade to man the trenches.
The heavies from before start tossing out bodies from the tower, and your squadleader heads inside.

Lucas:
Since you probably won't be given any more ammo and equipment by Uniware, you decide to head back in to scrounge up what little your CO still have.
Pistol and shotgun ammo. You've now got plenty of both. You also swipe his radio and digital map.
#Sir?#

Then it's off into the jungle. You head off the beaten path, and head east, away from the immediate Uniware precence.
#Sir? Are you there?!#
It's difficult to traverse the dense jungle, but you're moving further and further away from the burning village, and the distant refineries.
#Sir?... Something's wrong, regroup, and-#
The jungle is a bit dark at night, but the moons keep some sort of light coming in from between the cracks in the dense treetops. Other than that there's the fireflies. Well they're not fireflies, but they glow, and they're some kind of insects.

Your own radio comes alive.
#Private, regroup at the edge of the village.#
It's the corporal, filling in for the sergeant.

You're now in the middle of the jungle. The map says you're just south of the lake. There's a small stream leading there next to you.
There's also a an outpost just east marked as "Lost".
I regret nothing.

Lucas looks at his radio and drops it to the ground and stomps on it, no need for it now that I have the commander's. Until they find out that he's dead, that is. He heads towards the Outpost, hoping that it's just abandoned.

Breathing heavily, Saul takes a moment to recompose himself using the calming sight of the burning fortress. What beauty....Ahem, after a few seconds, he turns to his CO, trying to revive the dying recruit. He's no medic, so he just absentmindedly stands behind her, waiting for her failure or success.
Area Record 1782:
Date: 08/29/██

Event: An elderly human feeding itself to a group of kakapo. Did not express pain, appeared ambivalent.

Hettie gets around to doing minor tasks like fixing the perimeter fence and attempting repairs on any busted cameras or surveillance equipment.

Duncan places his hand on Moore's gently and try to give her a crash course in turret control and aiming.

"Well yeah, of course. I'll call out targets and then you blast them. It's a lot like handling a rifle if it was twice your size and blew up buildings."

Lucas:
You drop you own radio on the ground.
#Private, where the helll are yo-#
And promptly stomp on it, smashing it.

Then it's off towards the lost outpost.
The jungle is unforgiving when you want to travel through it, although being on foot helps.

Through dense bushes, across one or two streams, under the high roof of trees. Soon you reach a good lookout over the outpost, on a hill next to a manmade clearing.

It consists of 6 prefabricated structures, tied together with pipelines and gravel roads. In the middle stands a more permanent concrete structure dug into the ground, seeminly some kind of storage.
The outpost is overgrown, and there are old signs of battle like bullet holes and craters. There are also the wreckages of 3 tread-born tanks, and a medium walker.

At first, the outpost seems empty and quiet. But as you look over the outpost, you note movement. A lone hound roams around the outpost, looking through the remains of the outpost. The hound seems perticularly interested in the downed walker, always returning to it to examine it more.
The hound doesn't seem armed, and is wearing casual human clothes. Could either be stolen clothes, traded of some smuggler, or even some kind of gift of kindness from some human.

The hound seem to pay no attention to his surroundings, focusing entirely on the search.

Father:
The sergeant tries, and tries again to make the soldier breathe again. She doesn't even notice you standing next to her.
After a few more tries, she sighs, and gets up on her feet, leaving the soldier dead.
She looks around. The sight of her downed men seems to dampen her spirit.
"What a disaster..."
She turns her head to you. You note that she's covered in blood, most likely not her own.
"We're the only ones left, aren't we?"
She unloads her gun, and looks at a lone bullet in her magazine. She then reloads, and turns once more to you.
"Did we atleast capture the commander?"

Smasher:
You note that you are indeed the only engineer here.

First you fix the broken sensors and cameras, clearing that out of the way. The fence, could not be fixed. It was replaced by a palisade of logs by the hounds, and even if it's a bit roughed up, works rather well.
Then you're tasked with fixing the AA-gun, which proves as simple as realigning the barrels. It was simple, and didn't take much time at all.

You squadleader comes up to you.
"Well done with restoring the OP to it's former glory, and giving us another weapon to use in case of attack. Now I have another task for you, so follow me"
The squadleader leads you to the yard, then around to the side of the tower, there he moves a bunch of bushes in the cliffside, revealing a large metal gate, enclosed by a concrete frame. Beside the gate is a smaller metal door, accompanied by a broken keypad.
"This is one of the reasons the colonel wanted this place back. It's some sort of storage."
He points at the broken keypad.
"All I know is that once the hounds were about to overrun this outpost, the men stationed here smashed the keypad, thus sealing the gate until fixed. I'm glad they haven't succeeded in fixing it themselves...
But now I need you to fix it, and restore the systems deep inside aswell. Take some soldiers with you.
You never know what Vita will throw at you next..."

He then leaves, and goes back into the tower.
You're in front of the previously concealed gate, to the side of the tower. It's the middle of night, and the moons are high.
The yard of the observation post has been turned into a camp, with tents and campfires. There are relaxing light infantry, patroling heavy infantry and a lone medic tending the wounded.

Wolf:
Leon pouts, crossing his arms in the gunner's seat.
"Hey! I'm the one in charge of blowing up buildings!"

You give Moore some instructions on how to use the belly-turret. It's as straight-forward as it gets, since she's only basicly manning a defensive machinegun. But she appreciaties the help and instructions nontheless, brining her mood up a bit.

Your radio beeps once for attention, then you hear mission control.

Lucas puts his weapons away, he reveals himself to the unarmed hound, hands up showing he's friendly and open to be searched.. "Do you, uh, speak english?"

Hettie begins fixing the keypad, sighing.   "First day in active duty and you're already doing stuff like this."  When she's finished with the keypad, she tries to get a squad assembled.

Lucas:
You put the shotgun on your back, along with your assault rifle, and approach the hound as non-threateningly as possible.

When you're a mere 10 meters away from him, he tears his attention from the scrap around him, and goes into an alert stance. He stares at you, possibly confused.
You ask the hound if he speaks english. He looks at you, and opens his mouth a little. He hesitates, but tries to speak.
"Yes. I can speak most english."
He speaks with a thick extra-terrestial accent, unsuprisingly.
Up close, you get a more detailed look of him. He's a hound, as you though. He's a little shorter than you, and seems relatively young. His fur is dark brown, and his ears are pointy triangles, much like a german sheperd back on earth. The clothes he wear are human made, but are quite well-maintained, if you look past the unavoidable mud of the jungle.
He holds his lower left arm as he waits for your response.

Smasher:
Uniware did promise exitement...

You attempt to fix the keypad, but alas, it's too broken. You have to simply bypass the keypad.
You tear it off, and tinker with the wires.
As you do, an unspecified squad of volunteers arrive. 3 lights, and a heavy.

You succeed in crossing the right wires, and the gate clicks.
It would seem that the emergency battery had enough juice to pull the lock, but the generator being out means you have to pull the gate open yourselves.

You and your volunteers pull until your arms cramp a bit, and finally the gate opens.
Behind the gate is a dark concrete hallway leading forwards, and downwards into darkness. There's and assembly of webs and even some hanging eggsacks of various small insects.
One of the lights express his concern.
"Damn it's dark down there..."
The heavy turns on his helmet-mounted flashlight.
"Could be worse..."

Luckily, you're also equiped with one of those. In fact, everyone in your temporary squad has them. Good thing they're standard-issue.
I regret nothing.

"Are you with anyone else? I, uh, despite looking like it, am not with the soldiers." Lucas says, he rubs his chin. "Anyways, who taught you English?"
