Lucas:
You drop you own radio on the ground.
#Private, where the helll are yo-#
And promptly stomp on it, smashing it.
Then it's off towards the lost outpost.
The jungle is unforgiving when you want to travel through it, although being on foot helps.
Through dense bushes, across one or two streams, under the high roof of trees. Soon you reach a good lookout over the outpost, on a hill next to a manmade clearing.
It consists of 6 prefabricated structures, tied together with pipelines and gravel roads. In the middle stands a more permanent concrete structure dug into the ground, seeminly some kind of storage.
The outpost is overgrown, and there are old signs of battle like bullet holes and craters. There are also the wreckages of 3 tread-born tanks, and a medium walker.
At first, the outpost seems empty and quiet. But as you look over the outpost, you note movement. A lone hound roams around the outpost, looking through the remains of the outpost. The hound seems perticularly interested in the downed walker, always returning to it to examine it more.
The hound doesn't seem armed, and is wearing casual human clothes. Could either be stolen clothes, traded of some smuggler, or even some kind of gift of kindness from some human.
The hound seem to pay no attention to his surroundings, focusing entirely on the search.
Father:
The sergeant tries, and tries again to make the soldier breathe again. She doesn't even notice you standing next to her.
After a few more tries, she sighs, and gets up on her feet, leaving the soldier dead.
She looks around. The sight of her downed men seems to dampen her spirit.
"What a disaster..."
She turns her head to you. You note that she's covered in blood, most likely not her own.
"We're the only ones left, aren't we?"
She unloads her gun, and looks at a lone bullet in her magazine. She then reloads, and turns once more to you.
"Did we atleast capture the commander?"
Smasher:
You note that you are indeed the only engineer here.
First you fix the broken sensors and cameras, clearing that out of the way. The fence, could not be fixed. It was replaced by a palisade of logs by the hounds, and even if it's a bit roughed up, works rather well.
Then you're tasked with fixing the AA-gun, which proves as simple as realigning the barrels. It was simple, and didn't take much time at all.
You squadleader comes up to you.
"Well done with restoring the OP to it's former glory, and giving us another weapon to use in case of attack. Now I have another task for you, so follow me"
The squadleader leads you to the yard, then around to the side of the tower, there he moves a bunch of bushes in the cliffside, revealing a large metal gate, enclosed by a concrete frame. Beside the gate is a smaller metal door, accompanied by a broken keypad.
"This is one of the reasons the colonel wanted this place back. It's some sort of storage."
He points at the broken keypad.
"All I know is that once the hounds were about to overrun this outpost, the men stationed here smashed the keypad, thus sealing the gate until fixed. I'm glad they haven't succeeded in fixing it themselves...
But now I need you to fix it, and restore the systems deep inside aswell. Take some soldiers with you.
You never know what Vita will throw at you next..."
He then leaves, and goes back into the tower.
You're in front of the previously concealed gate, to the side of the tower. It's the middle of night, and the moons are high.
The yard of the observation post has been turned into a camp, with tents and campfires. There are relaxing light infantry, patroling heavy infantry and a lone medic tending the wounded.
Wolf:
Leon pouts, crossing his arms in the gunner's seat.
"Hey! I'm the one in charge of blowing up buildings!"
You give Moore some instructions on how to use the belly-turret. It's as straight-forward as it gets, since she's only basicly manning a defensive machinegun. But she appreciaties the help and instructions nontheless, brining her mood up a bit.
Your radio beeps once for attention, then you hear mission control.
