This is stuff we could realistically build right now, today. It shouldn't be hard or expensive to make in the future, and given that the CDI is a literal non-profit organization, these aren't supposed to cost much. Really, with the way the R-70 series works, for example, they should cost around $800 to produce in today's dollar, not including optics and stuff, and assuming you pay your workers well.
