Venting frustration
« on: March 05, 2015, 01:26:32 pm »
((So, just complaining about things here. Feel free to join in...))

So I took a glance at the RP exodus made, which was named tears of steel. Set during the great war, you know, the war before the over-the-top sequel. It made me thinking.

(Now before I say anything more, know that I respect those who fought in a war, and those who suffered and/or died during them.)

It pisses me off on how glanced over that war is.
I'd love to see a major AAA-title set in during world war one. A game that takes the fear of shells and machineguns right into the player.

But it won't happen, because the gaming industry thinks that it's boring to fight during that time (which is bullshit).
They also take distance from it because there was no destined good guys or bad guys. There were no nazis killing jews behind the front the allies tried to tear down, just young men fighting because their upstuck governments told them to, which makes it impossible to make the protagonist a testosterone-filled american killing the spawn of satan (sorry for the stereotype).
But if you ask me, that's a good thing. That means that you could be fighting for either side, and you still wouldn't be good or bad, but instead trying to stay alive as you stumble over the corpses of your enemies and your comrades, whilst pondering on what the war is good for.

That's my rant today. I just needed to get it said.
I regret nothing.

HS!
You stole the words from my mouth. There were no destined good guys or bad guys, that's why it's my favorite.

Only WW1 game I know of is Verdun.

HS, you're pretty good at analyzing this sorta thing.

Thank you, it's hard to express an opinion without fearing to step on toes.

No need to worry about that now since we're 100% freedoms when it comes to speech.

Open Broadcast software why you hate Borderlands pre sequel.
Seriously, I've had enough trouble I'm about ready to find a game that OBS will easily record and abandon the presequel let's play I was doing. If it's going to take me two plus hours just to get my software to record without crashing the game for a single session then it's just not worth it.

how high end is your PC? I've never had problems with OBS, but then again, my PC is a monster.

It's an out of the box desk top. I'm unfamiliar with the exact specs, but I've only ever experienced problems with the presequel recording. going to experiment a bit, but I'm probably just going to go and record some thing else.
besides which I've no idea how to look for the specifics of my computers hardware.

what is the highest level you can get the presequel up to graphics wise? Cause that gives an ok measure of it.

All settings on High with Physx at Ultra, View distance on Ultra High, Foliage distance on far, Resolution was 1280x1024, full screen, with frame rate set to smoothed 22-62 FPS. With anistropic filtering set to 4x because I forgot to change it.
EDIT: Forgot a couple things: Ambient Occlusion on, Depth of Field on, FXAA on

i HATE that they stopped making Mechwarrior games with  Mechwarrior 4: Mercenaries. i just really want to get my mech shooting fix, but i cant find any games like it. i mean singleplayer games. Mechwarrior Online was shit (Imagine World Of Tanks with a ton of pay to win, and you have to pay for repairs), and Living Legends is good, but sadly only multiplayer. I just need more mech games i guess.

EDIT: i just found out that the reason i didnt like mechwarrior online (lack of a metagame/massive war) has been fixed, and a different publisher is in charge, so it might be worth playing. still want a full new game though.
