((So, just complaining about things here. Feel free to join in...))
So I took a glance at the RP exodus made, which was named tears of steel. Set during the great war, you know, the war before the over-the-top sequel. It made me thinking.
(Now before I say anything more, know that I respect those who fought in a war, and those who suffered and/or died during them.)
It pisses me off on how glanced over that war is.
I'd love to see a major AAA-title set in during world war one. A game that takes the fear of shells and machineguns right into the player.
But it won't happen, because the gaming industry thinks that it's boring to fight during that time (which is bullshit).
They also take distance from it because there was no destined good guys or bad guys. There were no nazis killing jews behind the front the allies tried to tear down, just young men fighting because their upstuck governments told them to, which makes it impossible to make the protagonist a testosterone-filled american killing the spawn of satan (sorry for the stereotype).
But if you ask me, that's a good thing. That means that you could be fighting for either side, and you still wouldn't be good or bad, but instead trying to stay alive as you stumble over the corpses of your enemies and your comrades, whilst pondering on what the war is good for.
That's my rant today. I just needed to get it said.
