The three of you drift through space for a brief moment before Sato opens an airlock and let's everyone inside. On board the research vessel your suits indicate that on this part of the ship the life support is still working so it's certainly possible that there could be survivors. Everyone also notices the various burns etched into the walls, indicating laser fire had taken place and a possible battle though there are no corpses to be seen.
