Soooo, bit of a rant incoming but I'm both kinda mad and somewhat amused.
Okay, was having a semi intelligible discussion in Dirty Bomb, it's a free to play FPS on steam. It says it's an early access, but in my opinion I don't think it should be calling itself a beta.
Why? Core mechanics (gunplay and merc abilities) are done and work fairly well, as good as pretty much any other f2p fps. What it lacks is maps and maybe some mercs to fill niche roles.Other then that it looks to be done.
So, what they are doing( the devs) is adding in new maps and mercs, and making changes to the abilities and such of current mercs, ok. Do you know what those are? Quality of life updates as far as adjusting existing mercs and tweaking the new ones after they've been introduced and adding new maps. So, nothing game changing enough to warrant calling the game a beta really. So far as I've seen no recent updates have done MASSIVE overhauls to the game, just nice little tweaks to make it somewhat better.
Now, as someone who has a modicum of knowledge of how games are made thanks to extra credits and other factors, I think my opinion does have some knowledge behind it and should at least be considered, you know like everyone else opinion. Well apparently I don't know how games are made at all according to some arse who kept repeating that and telling me I 'should be happy to get into the beta at all'.
Seriously, the game already has micro transactions, up to $30 or so dollars I think, this is not a fucking beta anymore....
But whatever, I apparently have no knowledge about game development despite using some readily available sources of information, some of which are made by people in the industry. No knowledge whatsoever. Nope, none.
Oh wait... I do. I hate people insulting me and trying to just push my opinion to the side without presenting ANY kind of argument for their side.
think I'm done for now.
