The game just works
10/10 Bethesda
Played the game right when it unlocked, can confirm it just fucking works.
I am playing with the graphics though to get a decent blend of performance and quality, but then again I'm using a shitty card.
I'm still trying to move ot from the laptop to my PC.
I'm basically having the problem that the console versions of the game are having. Well minus the whole FPS drop during intense combat because I haven't had that happen (yet). But when I'm indoors the game starts stuttering some of the time, and let me tell you its bringing back some Fallout 3/NV memories of playing it on the PS3; where you'd look at a certain point and the frames would just fucking drop, especially when inside factories or the Sierra Madre in Fallout New Vegas.
But I mean I'm having bad frame dips (like gets into the 20ish range its still playable, but there is some serious stuttering) when I'm in the sewers and I think that's due to all the fog, lighting, and particle effects. Because a lot of the indoor areas are just crammed full of particle effects, dust, fog, webs, radiation spores you name it.
Another problem I'm having is with the radio and dialogue, Preston Harvey (Minuteman Dude) skipped half of his lines on his own when talking to the Gypsy Lady, and the radio station has these weird long drawn out pauses while it loads the next line for the DJ to say or for the next track to start. I mean I could reduce the graphics to low instead of High and Medium, but the game runs and looks fine where its at, if it gets any worse I'll drop some of the texture and model quality.
Other then that within the first 10mins the new DJ has grown on me, he's an awkward hipster type and I can't wait to meet him in person. Also I didn't make the neckbeard of the wasteland... well I kinda did but I modeled him after me since my name was on the list, and I want to hear the name "Aaron" get spoken in the game.
But I'm stopping my playthrough tonight for now, I got to Lexington and decided I should wait and get some other things done. Because I know I'll want to do nothing but play it for the next two days. That and I know it'll run and look better on the family desktop on the other room. So yeah, goodnight my fellow Sole Survivors, I'll enjoy this Coke and head to- ah who am I kidding I won't be able to sleep tonight.
