Utterly Mad

From what i've been reading here and there, bethesda over stated the system requirements? As in, a PC that can run skyrim can also run fallout 4 fine? (30FPS is fine)

Hear me, hear me, FO4 is complete shit and I pity those who bought it.

Not only did they screw up optimization by a gigantic margin(try Ultra textures and tell me this shit is good enough to only attain reliable 60FPS on GTX980, I dare you), the most of the game is pathetic. The map is empty, the story is laughable, there's pretty much no side quests to bother with, voice acting is horrific and is only made worse by it being forced on your character, there are bugs everywhere and it's worse than release of New Vegas, it takes 30GB with about 25 of those being uncompressed voice files(not lossless, just uncompressed), skill removal is atrocious in its own regard, most perks make no sense, complete lack of level cap means that you can be all-10-SPECIAL with all perks maxed out without much trouble, there's only one or two situations where you can actually talk yourself out, power armor system while good on paper requires heavy rebalancing, instead of fixing durability system it was removed completely, there's not nearly enough weapons even with supposed endless modification possibilities because most weapons share parts and there's a pitiful amount of those, did I mention bugs I think I did, almost every NPC that is not a raider is set to be essential, power armors are now everywhere, you can't romance female robot unless you give her human body. Oh, and now archives are using different approach and NIFs are screwed; fuck you, modders, who cares about you trying to make this game not trash.

On the good side of things, shooting is now not as shit as it was before and power armor is not just a reskin of Daedric set. That's about it.

Sorry, can't hear anything over the sound of everyone jerking off to Bethesda making another stunningly mediocre game.

Im still gonna get fallout 4 because I haven't had anything good to occupy my time with. Also, Trusty, ohhhh nooooooo people are wanting to put their creative power into making a game better. How dare they!

I hope you pirate it, I know I shouldn't care about someone blowing $60(or $100 if person is stupid enough) on a bad game but I still kinda do.

Well despite what was said above, I'm going to play the shit out of it and probably agree on all the points already stated... except on the graphics front because I'm playing on med-low settings.

The voice acting for a lot of the major NPCs is terrible, and the canned animations are hilariously bad. But for the side NPCs and the filler NPCs voice acting ain't to shabby on that side of it. I've also grown to hate Piper within the 2 minutes I've known her and I will most likely kil- oh wait I can't kill her because the game deemed her "plot important".


So yeah, after I beat the main story and sink retarded amounts of hours into this thing I'll most likely write a review. However I'm still loving the world, but I have to nitpick one thing that Patches said.

The map is empty

So was Fallout 1's and 3's. But I can see where you're coming from. This is the Commonwealth there should be a denser population of fuckwits since California has managed to make a functioning society, and New Vegas has literally become Afghanistan within the timeframe of 4. So where the fuck are all the major hub cities, where are the factions fighting for control? I'll tell you where they are, off screen because Bethesda can't fucking do something cool, they can only write about it.

Yeah I'd love to see that big ass war going on just south of Boston, fuck I'd like to take a piece of the pie down there. But I know its going to be the first DLC, or the 2nd, or hell it might be like Skyrim where it just never happens in game.


Also one last major bitch complaint I have, your guy steps out of the vault, wondering what the fuck happened, crying over their stolen child and dead spouse. And yet they just accept it after talking to Codsworth or wandering in some direction. Like wouldn't it have been better to have a Raider encounter on the way out of Sanctuary Hills, where they treat you like a friend (you could possibly join up with them) but things get fishy the more you talk or hang around them, and if you're dumb enough they'll just attempt to kill you on sight.

I don't know, I personally think the opening's best part was the pre-war segment, but everything after that was just Bethesda trying to funnel the player into the wasteland immediately.




OH AND FINALLY ABOUT THE POWER ARMOR! I personally don't mind the damn things being everywhere, Power Armor feels more like a temporary power up or like a "car" then an actual viable option to wear all the time. You always need power cores. But the real reason why the did it is for the newfags that just whine about, "HOW I DIDN'T GET MY POWER ARMOR YET, I DON'T WANNA WORK FOR IT!" So yeah thanks Bethesda appeal to the CoDfags that are going to be playing StarWars Battlefront and not Fallout 4.


Jesus I just need to stop typing already and play the fucking game some more so I have more things to praise and/or bitch about.

All that matters is that we have fun with it, even if that fun is just killing random shit and tooling around in the wasteland.

No. I could still have fun playing with sticks and rock given enough time, but Bethesda really needs to start stepping up more in terms of game design and storytelling. You can't just keep cutting shit out of an RPG until it becomes a shell of what genre it used to belong too, since you'll end up alienatimg most fans.

I could have plenty of fun with it now, but if I don't have many stories to tell or usual RPG story debates, I won't come back to it. Eventually people will stop buying into it... like right now actually, but we just classify people with valid complaints as "hardcore gamers", "haters", or "people over reacting". All because no one can bitch about precious Bethesda.

Listen I love Bethesda as much as the next fanboy, but I'm not going to just give BS a free pass because Todd Howard had a hand in it. I want Bethesda to make great, complicated,  huge story-sandbox RPGs (with good writing). I don't want Bethesda to keep making Skyrim 2, AKA: as wide as an ocean, deep as a puddle.

because I kinda feel the need to say this: The ONLY thing that matters is that you enjoy the game and feel you got your moneys worth, end of story. Saying 'no, the company needs to step up' is all fine and dandy, but if you put in a hundred hours and enjoyed the game, I'd say you got your money's worth (less then a dollar an hour)

But then companies get into a rythmn where they don't change, and that's my only problem. You can still love and game and have fun with it, and acknowledge its short comings and flaws. But then again that doesn't sell videogames or make sense, because fuck it this is the internet.


If I'm going to be honest I don't know where I stand with Fallout 4, when I'm roaming around the wasteland doing my own thing, crafting my own guns and just exploring in general; I really love the game and I feel its the best yet. But as soon as I start doing a shitty questline or purusing the main story, that's where it feels like Skyrim (bad Skyrim, not good Skyrim).

And now that I've played it I wouldn't be as harsh on it as I was earlier or like Patches was. Honestly trimming the fat is still bullshit in my eyes, but the shooting feels good to play with, I like shooting someone in the head and watching it become a blob of red jelly. I like taking drugs and hearing my character scream as he gets high off his ass. And while I hate the new dialogue system, the talking protagonist has really grown a little bit on me, I just wish there were more options, or more ways to be nice or to tell someone to fuck themselves other then just having the one choice.

But then again something might come up that makes me backtrack again, and its also the reason why I'm avoiding the main quest like the plague. Because I know I'm going to end up hating it by the end, because I'm starting to predict what the outcome will be, the opening will be great and have the most attention, but by the end of it, it feels like the writers gave up half way through writing it.




Fallout 4 is a SOLID game, not mediocre, SOLID. I'd put it in the same category as MGSV, it could be perfect, but one or two flaws really hurt the game for me. And to be honest I haven't run into any gamebreaking bugs in a while, so I might be lucky.
