Ah, how odd. I am on there as Chaosvolt, but...eh. Not sure if I'd do anything in a steam group. :V
Neither does anyone else, so it's ok. I imagined it was just a means for madmen to keep track of other madmen. You know, to keep them from stealing each others pudding or sinching each others straight jackets too tight.

Sweet zombie Jesus, they added a real-time mode to CDDa. And they made it on by default?

As well as a "filth" mechanic to clothes. Which was shot down by KA101, i2amroy, and coolthulu the first several times it was suggested, as well as being more or less taken straight from the "we make stupid suggestions" thread. Really, pretty much every change that's been made lately flies in the face of both the design docs, and common sense. I've got back to playing baseline 0.C, since it's less full of tedious bloat mechanics.
Gone. Cheers guys.

Mierda. Well, I can now say that I have a new reason to not want to play the game anymore. Not only does it make my contributor senses flare up, but it's too derp to salvage now. ;w;

There is also the fact you have to balance your vitamin intake in the game.

At what point will 'realism' trump fun for them?

Edit: Also if they are going to take ideas from the bad suggestions thread, Butt CBM's when. 😛

I recall repeatedly stressing: realism is only good if it enhances gameplay.

Coolthulhu I remember was good about balancing realism and gameplay, but they can only do so much.

Seems like there's lots of "realism" left to put in. For example, we don't have to poop yet. Or cut our hair so zombahs can't grab us more easily. Or change our oil regularly (though we do need hoists to work on cars now). I wouldn't be surprised to see any of that in 0.D. I think The Almighty Granola Bar (given most of the other active devs are saying these are bad changes) is really just more interested in proving he can program all these mechanics rather than making a fun game these days.
Gone. Cheers guys.

Fuck fun. Realism for all!
Sweet zombie Jesus, they added a real-time mode to CDDa. And they made it on by default?
That is daft as fuck.
edit: had to go look at it. That's REALLY daft as fuck in a game like cataclysm.
And whose idea was it to call it "automatic zombie advancement?" That basically hides it's option in the menu. People scan down looking for something like "real time movement" and can't find it so they assume that's just how the game is. I'd go so far as to say someone is being a bit pretentious with how they label their new features.

At least the dumb ammo and nutrition shenanigans have blacklist options.

Because in an apocalypse, you really care about how clean your clothes are and making sure you're getting your RDAs of vitamins.

I mean, I would. Dirty clothes would get into your wounds and you need vitamins and minerals to survive mengo.

Plus technically overall dirtiness has a thing in DF, and it factors into infection from injuries.

Thing is, I don't know if CDDA filthiness affects the healthiness stat or odds of infection from injury. I recall when I first saw the filthiness idea, likely in the bad ideas thread. I suggested it WOULD be a decent idea if it had DF-style effects, and was more than just a morale effect like 90% of the dumb shit (shaving, haircutting) that was making it in at the time.

Also I think it's to prevent you from taking the clothes off of A FUCKING ZOMBIE. I thineed you guys are... I want to say over exaggerating but I'm not sure if that's the right phrase... you dudes are making it seem like a bigger problem then it actually is. Except the real time thing, I agree with that.

Eh. I'll admit that nutrition might be not fully essential, but I wasn't delivering a daily dose of salt about that. I was the one getting irked about the possibility that the filthy clothes thing might ONLY serve to add another useless morale effect, along with the equally-useless deterrant to wearing zombie drops.

Zombie clothing already tends to be in utterly useless condition. Compared to repairs, the added hassle of cleaning it is not a big detriment to how readily you can use it. Hence my question: did they at least do the smart thing and add a higher risk of infection when filthy?
